What a lovely home and property to bond and enjoy some family time together. We enjoyed the hot tub, pool, making s’mores by the fire pit, family meals together, and a nice little hike at the nearby pocket wilderness. My 5 year old granddaughter is still telling everyone about the “Yellow House”

Big Ole Family Thanksgiving Retreat
Chattanooga is closer to 1-hour away. The house is older, 80's I believe, and has a lot of wear and tear. I would definitely recommend insurance due to this. Felt as if something could break at any minute. There are additional rules listed on the refrigerator that were not listed in the ad which was a bit annoying. Definitely hoped to explore some of the land but it was mostly overgrown with stickers/thorns. The house was a bit messy...we cleaned upon arrival. Electronics were dated and thus, tricky to use. We chose to clean the pool. Yes our trip was during fall but I would have expected the pool to be covered or if not at the least not be full of leaves. We didn't clean it to use it... instead we cleaned it so it would look nicer to the eye and most importantly so we could see the bottom in case the children fell in given no fence. Also, gutters all full of leaves which didn't bother me at first cuz it's not my house until the day we tried to come home when it was raining and all the rainwater was flowing over the gutter instead of through it and onto our heads as we tried to enter the house.
Outside of those observations, all in all a good family trip.

Loren, we're sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations. We take the accuracy of our listings seriously and use only professional, local photographers to ensure that our photos clearly represent each property. We can confirm that the photos are up-to-date and accurately portray the maintenance and furnishings in the home. Additionally, if any items are broken, the owner is prompt in repairing to ensure that it does not affect their guests. The home is on 37 acres of land, surrounded by the woods. While it's not uncommon for the woods to have overgrown plants, stickers, or thorns, we're sorry that this was not what you were expecting. The pool had been properly cleaned before your check-in, however, during the fall season wind can sometimes blow some leaves into the pool. Gutters are typically cleaned out after all surrounding trees have shed their leaves, and while we wish that we could control the rain to make your stay better, this is, unfortunately, an external factor that we are unable to control. We strive to provide a 5-star experience for every guest that travels with Evolve, and we are looking forward to helping this homeowner continue to host satisfied travelers in their vacation rental. Best, the Evolve Team
We stayed at this property for a long weekend for Labor Day. My husband and I stayed with our five children. There was plenty of space for us all to stay. We enjoyed the pool, exploring the property, and neighboring area. It was beautiful! We especially enjoyed hiking at Pocket Wilderness just down the road. The home is old and has many antique pieces. The owner is very kind and helpful.
The home was perfect. My sister and her family live in Alaska and the rest of the family live in Indiana. The home was big enough to host 4 families comfortably. The location allowed others to stay close by and still gather together at the big house for much needed fun. The home had everything you need to feel at home plus all the things to make you feel like you are on Vacation. Perfect.

Rustic home
The house could have been a lot cleaner! The couches smelled. It did not appear that a cleaning service is doing the cleaning. We knew we were going into an outdated rustic house, there are a lot of little things that could make this rental much better. The pool was dirty & the filter was not filtering anything, it just stirred it up. The hot tub was nice & big, plenty of parking & huge fire pit. I expected bugs outside, but there were ants in the kitchen & saw a cockroach. The modem went out on the day of our arrival , but before we arrived & the owner was replacing it, which was great because without it , there is no cell service, however we arrived at 5:30& check in was 4pm, the owner was in the house & had never let us know what was going on, he should have given us a heads up , so that we knew what we were walking into It was by far weird! He even stayed for another 45 minutes after the modem was up & running & played my 25 year old son foosball , he kept striking conversations etc. he was nice , but we were VERY weirded out by this!! There was a cell phone left on & plugged in & on a lock in the kitchen, Because we were already weirded out, we turned it off & put it in a cabinet, for all we knew it was some kind of recording setup. We rent homes ALL the time & have never met the owners or been so creeped out.

Hi Carrie, We always appreciate hearing from our guests, but we'd like to clarify some of the items that you mention in your review:
- The homeowner was at the property to make sure that everything was clean & ready for your arrival when the modem stopped working
- They immediately went to get a new one and reached out to let you know what was going on and get your permission to be at the property after your check-in time
- Since your son arrived before you did, he and the owner chatted while the new modem was being installed
- Internal cameras are not allowed - the cell phone was a temporary replacement for the landline that had been damaged by past guests
- The pool had been cleaned and serviced just an hour before your arrival, and the couches & carpets had been professionally cleaned as well
We're confident that the issue with the modem was an isolated situation and that upcoming guests can look forward to a great stay in this vacation home!
