The Beach Lodge , secluded with panoramic sea views

The lodge is in a stunning location overlooking Golden Bay with a walk down to a private beach. Lots of outdoor deck space and a gazebo barbecue. Has 2 main bedrooms with king size bed and single bed and another bedroom with 4 single beds. Can convert to 10 single beds. Has 2 showers, 2 toilets and 2 kitchens.
1.6kms walk to the Mussel Inn , or 4 minute drive along private road. The Mussel Inn is well known for its craft beers and many music nights in the summer.
The walk to the beach is through rambling gardens with an artistic bent. The beach is safe for swimming with long beach walks beckoning.

Woman’s retreat

Views were stunning, beds were so comfortable and very clean. The BBQ was unfortunately a little too grubby to use and the oven had a large piece of appliance broken inside- which we managed to fix ourselves. But overall- an awesome place to stay!

Secluded, zen retreat

John was great to deal with and responsive to an issue we had with the gas. The house did smell a little damp and certain areas could use a deep clean, but the bathrooms were clean and the beds were all well made. We really enjoyed staying at Shambhala and loved having access to the beach through the beautiful gardens. The view from every bedroom is amazing. Thanks John!

Beautiful quiet spot in Golden Bay, good for large groups

Beautiful spot in Golden Bay. It's off the grid on gas, solar and tanks so is a little rustic but that comes with the location. It's a large place so good for groups and our 6 year old loved it. John is a good host helping with any questions we had.

A wonderful retreat

Really enjoyed our time chilling out at The Beach Lodge. Off the beaten track with a lovely, relaxed vibe. Our host, John, was excellent.

Beautiful environment, very spacious house.

John was obliging, pleasant and responsive to our queries re wifi, rubbish bags, compost etc. Fridge space was not really adequate for a crowd especially without a freezer. But my family thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Idyllic stay in a little slice of paradise

This is a wonderful property in a very special location. Very peaceful and relaxing with everything we needed for two families with young children and our elderly parents. We stayed 8 days and didn’t want to leave. Highly recommended and we can’t wait to stay there again. Our children loved exploring the gardens and beach. The local weka were a highlight as well. John, the owner was friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.

Great Golden Bay experience

A great place to unplug and unwind. Wonderful bird life, gardens and sea views, peaceful and sunny. House is comfy and roomier than the photos suggest. Solar powered - there is phone coverage and WiFi though both can be a bit spotty - bring books and put your feet up on the porch under the bougainvillea.
