Beautiful location- Unclean arrival
A beautiful location and home. There is no lake quite like pristine Newfound Lake. After many years apart, my family was reuniting for one precious week on the lake we loved as children. Being out on a private peninsula was awesome. Lovely outdoor patio and the dock was handy for our pontoon rental from West Marine. However…I am sorry to report that our vacation was tarnished upon arrival when it was immediately evident the house had not been cleaned after the last occupant- dirty towels, old dried up soap, unclean fridge, and every bathroom surface and more was filthy. After paying a substantial rent, renters should at the VERY least, expect a clean home. To have my guests arrive to such an unclean mess was embarrassing, to say the least. After a long trip north, my guests needed to use the bathrooms. Due to the late hour, I had to clean them myself. I reached out to my contact, voicing my frustration and disappointment. While she offered to have a house cleaner come over, at that point it would only have interrupted our vacation further. I had already spent way too much of precious time with my family trying to rectify the situation. I hope at the very least, my communication with her and the pictures provided will save a future renter from such an awful experience. I suggest always confirming a rental has been cleaned. Note: We had to supply our own sheets/towels, soaps/shampoo etc. Going forward, such a high-end home rental as this should provide these amenities.
