Hi Linda, As your booking was made through Homeaway, unfortunately you receive their emails as well as ours. Our emails and text messages are automated to remind guests to complete their Online Check In as per Governments guidelines, garbage bin night and to remind guests what day it is for them to checkout. These messages are all generated from feedback we receive from guests over the years- this is the 1st complaint we have received so we will take your comments into consideration. When you made your booking you specified the adults and children, one of our staff then spoke to you on Tuesday 24th May pre your arrival to confirm that the property could not sleep extra adults. We apologise if you felt the neighbour had interfered with your stay, the neighbour has nothing to do with the property, she is not the owner or caretaker. The advertisement for the property stipulates that Castaways is situated just metres from the water and is nestled in a waterfront parkland reserve. Having the gate for direct access to the beach is very handy as children do not need to cross over any roads. The wildlife and sunsets at Soldiers Point are spectacular, we are glad you were able to enjoy these. The house is advertised as split-level design, we are not sure about the 3 steps being steep, these steps are shown in the lounge room photo on the website, I hope your mothers knee and hip heals quickly. Hi Joanne, Thank you for your feedback, we hope you and your family enjoyed the beautiful location. Thank you also for raising your concerns. Being a beachfront location, the outdoor furniture is indeed weathered but still very serviceable. And, like any other timber furniture, the bunk beds require the bolts to be tightened from time to time. This is being resolved along with any small tears in the fly screen. Fly screens, by their nature, are fairly brittle and prone to damage from severe weather especially with beach front properties. It is unfortunate you did not call the managing agent during your stay, as these minor matters could have been rectified quickly within a day or two. They also have technicians on call 24/7 for smoke alarms. While Castaways is a traditional beach house with some of its original features, every effort (and significant expense) has been made to equip and furnish the property to a high standard. As many other reviews indicate, the house is considered to be very comfortable, stylishly decorated and ideally located.
