Only 25 miles to New Orleans' French Quarter and Bourbon Street but worlds away as you sit overlooking one of Louisiana's most famous Bayous. Bayou Barataria which once was the home of Pirate Jean Lafitte. From the largest and nicest decks and docks in the Lafitte/Barataria area you can sit over the water as you take in the beautiful views of the bayou and Bayou Life.
Don't be fooled by other listings in the area that aren't even near the water or is a house crammed together with many other houses on a man made canal with only the view of houses next to, across, and behind you. Please check out our views and then compare it to all the others....there is no comparison. Those rentals you will not be able to see the beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the bayou....just look at the pictures of the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from this home and decide where you would rather be. This unique home overlooks the real natural Louisiana bayou and marshes providing the perfect setting to experience the serenity and beauty of the Bayou Life!
Our unique place provides direct access to the Bayou for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just relaxing. Fish and crab from the dock, keep your boat in the water ready to go, or our fishing guides can pick you up from your backdoor. Fish, crab, live the Bayou Life and be a New Orleans tourist all in the same trip!
Bayou Life Charter Fishing offers a complete fishing experience package. Our fishing guides pick you up right from the back door on the largest dock in the area. Relax, drink your coffee on the dock as the sun rises, and step straight on to the boat. We are at the end of the Lafitte/Barataria area so the boat ride to your fishing hole is that much closer. After booking contact us and we will arrange the perfect fishing and Bayou Life experience. We can also set up swamp tours, boating excursions, sunset wine cruises, and morning breakfast excursion by boat to a local restaurant on a barge. We even have unique access to a neighbors softshell crab experience not offered anywhere else. Come for a visit and we can make sure you have a unique, complete Bayou Life experience.
No other rental will provide a more complete Bayou Life experience. We provide crab traps and fishing poles complete with bait to experience catching your own dinner the Bayou Life way. With provided notice we can even bait the traps and set them out prior to your arrival so they can start catching dinner. Each rental will have 5 lbs of jumbo shrimp caught by neighboring fishermen (contact me at booking to reserve). No better way to start off livin’ the Bayou Life than with fresh local jumbo shrimp for dinner....Bayou Life lagniappe.
We provide so much more than any other rental....even a commercial ice machine for FREE ICE! Completely equipped with BBQ, smoker, fire pit, and patio furniture for a relaxing and enjoyable Bayou Life experience. Kitchen is completely stocked with all the pots, pans, utensils, and gadgets you could want as well as an extensive amount of spices, condiments, salad dressings, and much more so you don't have to waste time and money at the grocery store. If you choose to hit Bourbon Street and do a little partying don't worry about driving....No problem getting to and from the New Orleans French Quarter....I have several Uber drivers on call and ready to take you to and from the New Orleans French Quarter or anywhere in New Orleans at any time of the day or night.

Morgan was the best and very knowledgeable about the area. Although we didn't take advantage of all the amenities there were to offer there were plenty. We were just looking for a quiet place to stay while visiting Mardi Gras. This place delivered, it was peaceful and about 30 minutes from downtown New Orleans.
An incredible location that sparked my kids’ love for fishing. The home was clean, well-stocked, and included all of the extras you could ask for. The host was very responsive and checked in after a good storm. If ever in the area again, we know where we will be staying.
This was our first VRBO we ever stayed at. Morgan was so friendly and the place was in such a great area. Really enjoyed my morning coffee right on the dock! Would absolutely stay here again!
This house, we rented both rentals-the upstairs and downstairs, for a company fishing trip. The customers loved the space. With a short drive to Joe’s landing, the guys were able to hop in one vehicle and get there with ease! We cooked burgers one night and being able to cook on the grill provided was such a great addition! Having a tv outside also made it easy for our wide range of football fans. We were able to have multiple games on at the same time! This is our second year booking and will definitely be back next year!

Very glad and happy to accommodate your large group. I always do whatever I can as fast as I can to help guests. Next trip let me line up the fishing trip. The fishing guides I coordinate with will come right to the back door dock and pick you up. No need to drive down to a marina to find the boat. The fishing guides will also clean your fish right on the dock in the backyard and give you the trimmings to use for crab bait. So convenient, easy, and a great experience. Come on back any time!
The house was fantastic! Excellent host that made sure we were comfortable and gave us a lot of great info prior to the trip about local things to do to make for a great trip.
The host is very accomodating and has an open line of communication. This stay was one of the more relaxing and easy to manage stays of all we have booked.
Thank you Mr. Darrell for being a guest at Bayou Life. I see you only gave me 4 stars for Communication. I am ALWAYS available and respond IMMEDIATELY. I love to talk to guests, tell bayou stories, and provide detailed information on everything to do. I don't ever impose or get in the way of the guests during their stay but I am very quick to respond and be there when the guests ask for or need anything. I checked our conversation and don't see where you ever tried to contact me. I sent several communications about the house and your stay but never got a response or any communications from you. Sorry you gave 4 stars for communication but you never tried to contact me even once. I was giving you and your family space to enjoy the beauty and relaxation of Bayou Life. Come on back any time. I will sit and tell you stories for hours.
Amazing area to relax, crab from dock, fishing and oh the restaurants so good. This house has a beautiful deck with firepit to enjoy the evening. We will definitely be back.
My family and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Bayou Life. We loved having our two dogs with us, although I would recommend booking the lower floor if you have dogs (it’s a lot of steps if they need to go out at night). The property is in a great location and very well maintained. We did a charter with Captain Chad (recommended in the property description) and had a great time! Caught 20 plus catfish from the dock. We would definitely book again if returning to the bayou!
Had a great time down in Jean Lafitte with my son. 2 days of fishing with a guide that picked us up at the camp dock right outside the back door was fantastic. We did just ok fishing but that’s to be expected in March. I would definitely recommend this place
This was an amazing small getaway that was away from the hustle and bustle. Unfortunately for us the weather wasn’t kind so we didn’t get the opportunity to fish and enjoy the nice dock it has in the back. Owners were quick to respond to any inquiries. We would definitely come back.
Quiet location on the bayou less than an hour south of New Orleans. We had a wonderful time. We especially enjoyed interactions with Morgan and friends, relaxing on the dock, the views, fishing expedition, crab and shrimp boil on the property, tour of the soft shell crab facility nearby, and other recommendations. We stayed in the third floor unit which was well maintained and provided everything we needed. Would definitely stay again. Loved the Bayou Life!

Thank you Kay for a lovely review. It was a pleasure to have met you and your husband. We really enjoyed boiling the crabs and shrimp caught off the dock for y'all...especially while listening to your husband play the saxophone out on the dock. I am very glad y'all were able to live and enjoy the Bayou Life!
Two brothers in their 50s looking for a base camp for redfishing and our WWII Museum visit. Barataria and Bayou Life turned out to be a perfect spot. Charters picked us up right at our dock each morning (no early-AM car rides!) and we were able to fish from the dock upon our return. Well appointed house; no problem there. The dock is the hidden gem here; we spent hours out there. Very quiet location on a dead end road. Recommended particularly for fishing but convenient for side trips to NOLA.
Our stay was everything we were going for. Morgan checked in with us to make sure it was great. This is a 3rd floor home. That means yes there are stairs. Seeing other reviews and guest book messages people were amazed there were stairs and that was a compliant. Know what your booking ahead of time, yes stairs, but great quiet house on the bayou. Book the charter with big dog and you won’t be disappointed!
