About this property
Your Windows To The Ocean, Lobstering Village, And Private Floating Dock!
Bask in the natural marine beauty and wildlife of Muscongus Bay on the deck of the fourth generation family home, lovingly named Briarnook. Built in the waning days of schooners, Briarnook was completely remodeled and modernized to take advantage of the spectacular 180 degree water and island views.
The two bedroom, one bath coastal cottage features a full deck with seating for a dozen, a sleeping cabin for two additional guests, and an easy ride to the charming towns of Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Rockland, and Camden. Or stay closer to your summer home and climb Pemaquid's lighthouse for a seagull's view of the bay and enjoy fresh seafood at Shaw's famous restaurant in New Harbor.
The large deck provides a wonderful place to relax, and watch local lobster fishermen haul traps and then return later in the day with their catch. Or... get up with the sun, and watch the fishermen as they leave for the day! The large picture windows continue to provide the breathtaking views as you prepare meals in the well equipped , fully modern kitchen.
Make Briarnook your summer or autumn retreat and return to your life refreshed as these former guests did:
“We spent many days seeing and photographing Maine. It was always so pleasant to think we would be returning each day to such a relaxing and wonderful home situated in such an incredible setting.” --M.H.
“We just loved the view! Spent lots of time in the gliders and recliners enjoying the wildlife.”
--J.C.
“Sitting in the glider on our last morning watching the sun try to break through the clouds, and the birds. The layout is perfect and everything is so comfortable and cozy. You don't mind cooking on vacation with a view like that!”
--A.D.
“It is so serene and beautiful here and the cottage is easy to stay and relax in.”

About the host
Hosted by Laurie C. Allen

Briarnook is owned by four siblings. Laurie, George, Jeff, and Robin. Growing up in Thomaston, about 40 minutes away, we lived and worked on a dairy farm, and went to nearby schools and Maine colleges. We are all still Mainers at heart, and live or spend a great deal of time in our home state. With families of our own, we have loved spending time here with our children, and now introducing our grandchildren to the wonders of the Maine coast.
Why they chose this property
Briarnook has been family loved and owned since 1950. Belonging first to our great grandparents, grandparents, and then mother, it then became ours. As children, many happy times were spent with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins both here and across the harbor on the beach you can see on Hog Island.
What makes this property unique
Briarnook has been completely remodeled with all the conveniences of home. A fully equipped kitchen overlooking the ocean make cooking an enjoyable task. Two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and another with two twins, and one bath with walk in shower. It has an open floor plan with a bar separating the kitchen from a dining area, and a full size living room. A cabin with twin beds is the perfect spot for children and teens. Internet access, and Direct TV are available. A large deck with a retractable awning provides a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the comings and goings of a small lobster fishing village, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, a place to read or.... "it's always 5 o'clock somewhere!"
