Our family, young and old, love this house, the setting, and the whole area of the Mad River Valley. There's something for everyone, from the youngest at 18 months old, to the oldest at 89 years of age.
We came back to celebrate another family milestone and had a wonderful time. Found two great hikes (Vista in Warren and Chase in Waitsfield right near the house.) had a nice fire in the backyard and the deck was perfect for outdoor dinner and games. Every bed is super comfortable and the kitchen is awesome for big meals.
This is a house where the pictures do not nearly do the house justice. Everything here is in mint condition for the perfect family ski vacation. The owners have thought of every little thing to make your stay easy and perfect. The views of the mountain, the heat from the fire after a long day, the near slopeside location, and the perfectly equipped kitchen all make this a truly wonderful stay. Add on a ping pong table and games for the kids and plenty of cozy places for the adults, and you have a great vacation. Can’t wait to go back!

We are so glad you enjoyed our ski home, the Mad River Valley and the awesome snow conditions at Sugarbush on your February vacation. It was easy and a pleasure to coordinate the rental with you. Thanks for taking great care of our house.
Our family loves coming to this beautiful home nestled above the Mad River Valley. The views are amazing! The house is so comfortable, there’s plenty of room for gathering and hanging out, cozying up to the fire. The bedrooms are wonderfully decorated with en suite baths, the kitchen is very well appointed with great cookware and awesome island. Fabulous space in the basement rooms and large mud room. Fantastic deck and fire pit. Owners are super!
Staying at this Sugarbush Mt Ellen house is like staying at the home of a dear friend. The house is situated with a beautiful view and a long and wide balcony, a comfortable interior, and everything a lived-in house would have. This is a family's home, not a house "decorated" to rent out.
The house is a big part of the reason we return to the Mad River Valley. It's well located for shopping and activities, and very comfortable in the evenings and rainy days during which we choose to stay in. My favorite time is early morning, watching the sun rise, with the colors changing, and a cup of tea in my hands.
This was our second year staying at this wonderful Mad River Valley home. Because of our stay last year, we knew the house well enough to invite our prospective in-laws and to host some dear friends for dinner on several occasions. Everyone, with no exceptions, including our college aged granddaughters, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the home.
I use the word "home" quite intentionally. In our experience, most short term rentals are just that, not actually anyone's home. This house absolutely is. The furnishings are lovely and comfortable. There is attractive wall art, including vintage posters about the area. There are games and puzzles of all sorts. And my personal favorite - a kitchen fully stocked with high quality cookware and as many hers and spices as one could ask for.
Cathy and Gary are extremely accommodating and very helpful. They're also easy to reach and respond to queries quickly, As soon as I finish this review, I'm booking for next summer!

Thanks for taking the time to write such a positive and detailed review. You and your family are super renters and we appreciate your care of our home. Glad to have you back next year.
Sugar Birch is the perfect home for a Vermont vacation! Super comfortable , many amenities, beautiful views, close to slopes and town. Wonderful beds, fireplace, well appointed kitchen, fun lower level playroom, big deck, mud room, spacious en-suite bathrooms. Awesome layout. Owners are great and excellent with communication and assistance. We love staying here and have made many memories! Can’t wait to return again
This home was all and more than we expected and it made our time together as a family to celebrate our son’s college graduation a time we will all remember forever! Hoping to come back in the winter months as Sugarbush is one of our favorite places to ski!
Amazing house with all the amenities! Well appointed, super comfortable beds, great kitchen. Fabulous mountain views and air. Excellent and generous hosts . Couldn't ask for a better stay.
Our stay was excellent! A beautiful, clean, and well appointed house that truly exceeded all of our expectations. We couldn't have asked for anything more! The owner's communication and overall house directions were excellent. Highly recommend!
We fell in love with this house. It was ideal for our family group of 4 kids ages 12-18 and 4 adults, and the hosts couldn't have been nicer or more attentive and helpful. We took day trips to Burlington and Stowe/Waterbury, and explored nearby Warren Falls, Moss Falls and Lareau Park swimming hole. Would highly recommend this rental because it felt like friends had loaned us their beautiful mountain retreat for a week.
This is a 5 star property with sophisticated rustic charm, modern conveniences and beauty inside and out. Located on Mount Ellen at Sugarbush with fantastic views and only minutes to unique Vermont dining, shopping and experiences.
We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of this property! In addition, the owners were very welcoming providing us with local treats and thoughtful recommendations. We spent most of our time on the back deck admiring the beautiful views and even eating all of our meals outside. The property was very clean and inviting and was close enough to restaurants but private enough to enjoy the beautiful Vermont scenery! We didn’t want to leave and would definitely stay here again!
What a great house! All mod cons, comfortable beds and living areas. Close to the slopes and town.
We had such a great weekend!
Communication was easy, the house was exactly as advertised (if not better). Gary and Cathy made sure we had all the info we needed both in advance of our stay, and during. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great play to stay with friends or family. Kitchen is well stocked with anything you need to cook a meal, and living areas comfortable and easily cater to a larger group. Beds were very comfortable, and the view of the sunrise over the hills every morning was a dream to wake up to!
Thanks again Gary and Cathy.
We have been coming to the Sugarbush area for almost 20 years, and never have stayed in a home as nice as this one. It was perfect for our extended family, including two young grandchildren. The house is incredibly comfortable and well stocked — from high quality cookware to games, movies and toys. Gary and Cathy were very responsive and terrific to work with. I highly recommend this property.
The property is beautiful, exceptionally clean and perfect location. Everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay is right here. Property manager is easily reachable and very helpful. Would love to stay here again.
The very best property as far as beauty of view, actual home and property owners. We had an absolutely terrific time the three nights we stayed. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for view, 4 bedrooms with each a connected bath and very accommodating property owners.
