What a great place to relax and unwind. The creek was flowing fast and the sound was amazing. The location was perfect to be close to the park but still very secluded. What an experience and was exactly what we needed.
This wonderful property at the end of a gravel road and situated next to a stream, was exactly what my husband and I hoped for. It was peaceful and quiet. The only sounds were the creek and birds. Mule deer and elk came to visit along with our resident rabbit who lived under the porch. Close enough (a gorgeous drive) to Yellowstone, but away from the bustle. Perfect!!
Cabin is at the end of a dirt road. Close enough to the highway and just a few miles to Yellowstone National Park. Surrounded by mountains, giving plenty of privacy and quietness. Cabin is a little rustic, but not primitive. Has everything you need to make your stay pleasant. There is no air conditioning, but that wasn't a problem for us as the days were pleasantly cool. Very clean, beds very comfortable. There is a beautiful waterfall that feeds to the creek that flows alongside the house, and is visible from some of the rooms. Communication was excellent, and was very accommodating when we needed to change our dates. They even welcomed us with a bottle of wine and some snacks. We would book again if we ever have the chance to return to the area.
Peace perfect peace! End of the track, rustic property with its own trout creek, not fishable during my stay as it was a raging torrent after high temperatures. Ten miles south of the maelstrom of Gardiner, a perfect base for hiking from the front door; fishing the rivers and creeks if not blown out, but only a short distance to a choice of 3 Spring Creeks; and obviously a starting point for days in YNP without the hassle of the Gardiner crowds and queues. Great hike to the Historic OTO Dude Ranch with, apart from the views and preserved buildings, the bonus for the ornithologically minded of 23 species of bird heard and seen. Even 17 during an evening on the deck. All found for self-catering, treats and wine as a welcome, and everything that I needed to prepare meals. All in all a busy but greatly rejuvenating break in idyllic surroundings.

Hi Candy! I’m so glad you enjoyed the beautiful stream by the house and how clean it was. Just to clarify for future guests, the main issue Candy had was the location of the extra toilet paper. It was difficult for her to find in the hallway closet which is adjacent to the bathroom. In the future I will keep some under the sink in the bathroom for easier visibility. The other issue was that the starter had gone out on the grill from the previous guests ( which I was unaware of) so it required lighting it to get the flame to start. I will be replacing the grill this week. I’m sorry you felt it necessary to give us such a low star rating for such minimal inconveniences. Especially because I handed you cash to make up for these issues… repaying the cleaning fee. I will always strive to make every stay easy, enjoyable and issue free for every guest! Thanks!!
We really enjoyed staying at this mountain retreat. It was very clean and had nice touches, like a note welcoming us with a bottle of wine and snacks for the kids! The beds were comfortable too! Thanks for sharing your home!
Quiet, away from the bustle of the visitors of Yellowstone Park. Easy drive to entrance to park. Creek on the property was wonderful. Very clean and comfy beds.
This place was perfect for our family. The cabin was spacious and clean. We loved having the creek right out the window and enjoyed sitting by it. We went for a short hike on the adjacent trail too.
Nice, quiet location (exactly what we were looking for). Cabin was clean and comfortable and just the right distance to Gardiner and Yellowstone. Hosts were super nice! Would definitely stay here again.
Super location. Close to the north entrance of Yellowstone but just far enough away to feel secluded. Rustic and spacious. The sound of the creek running was peaceful background noise.
Quiet cabin set up into the hills with a roaring creek next to the cabin. Perfect location and cabin for our family. Will definitely stay again if we go back to Yellowstone.
Fun location, very isolated, which was awesome. Everything we needed was available.

My name is Diane Burgard. I am now retired, but was a school teacher, homemaker, and business owner. I ran Mountain Retreat as a vacation rental from 1990 - 2002 before the vacation rental movement became popular. My daughter and her family are now helping get it up and running as a vacation rental again after taking an extended hiatus from it. My daughter's boyfriend completely remodeled the house and hand crafted all the interior finish work. Our family owns the three properties before you reach Mountain Retreat along Cedar Creek Road. We are onsite and willing to help make your vacation memorable in any way we can.
