Katherine was an awesome host throughout the entire process from first booking to checkout. Excellent communication. The house was charming and perfect for a quiet family getaway. We will visit again.
The house was very nice. Perfectly clean, very roomy, well stocked and for us city people a very unique setting. We greatly enjoyed our stay to attend UL-Va Tech football game(Go Cards). Would like to come back with my wife to relax and hike in the area sometime soon. Highly recommend this place.
Great place, very much as advertised. About 40 minutes from Virginia Tech. Very peaceful and beautiful, particularly in morning and evening. Can be hard to find, but the directions in the welcome email were good. We expect to visit again. Our dog really loved it too.
The accomodations were perfect for what we needed. There was plenty of room for everyone and the setting was amazing. We were able to spend quality time as a family in a comfortable setting.
This is the second time that we have stayed at this property and strongly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet country get away! The property is a beautiful, well-kept farmhouse completely stocked with all amenities that we needed. In addition to the house itself our family, including our Labrador Retriever, enjoyed the beautiful farm scenery with grazing cattle. We were even treated to the arrival of a new-born calf during our stay.
Nestled inside a large farm, this is a very quiet property. No neighbors to worry about yet within 30 mins of Walmart/Dollar General, easy to get what you needed. House was very clean and very relaxing.
We stayed at this beautiful home for a long weekend while we attended a wedding in the area. We were able to accommodate our family of 5 with plenty of space. Even our dog enjoyed the quiet surroundings and watching the cattle and deer in the fields. We plan on doing it all over again for another wedding next fall.
This was our fourth time staying at the Creek House, and as always it was comfortable and welcoming. Kathy is wonderful to communicate with and is quick to reply to an email.
Our dogs enjoy watching all the sights and sounds of farm life from the serene porch! As do we :)
The beauty of this farm cannot be accuratly shared in pictures, the calmness takes over with zero sense of being a visitor. We felt like family staying at a grandparents home. There was no detail, no necessity that was missed. We experienced beautiful weather to explore and a storm. We loved it and miss it already. Thank yoou
Super welcoming! Exactly as advertised. We enjoyed our stay very much. We found the house very clean, spacious, and comfortable. This property had an almost magical effect on us that lulled us into a very peaceful relaxed state providing the perfect counterbalance to the happy but high energy of the Virginia Tech graduation. We are grateful to have the farm as part of our memory!!

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Spotts
Springfield Farm has been a Spotts family farm for five generations. While it remains a working cattle farm, the Spotts family lives and works in Richmond, VA. Springfield Farm has an important history having been a bivouac site for Stonewall Jackson's valley campaign during the Civil War.
The Creek House is the Spotts' Springfield Farm home. Besides housing our family of five and who knows how many family pets for vacations with friends and holidays, the Creek House has welcomed Virginia Tech families for graduations and vacations, Appalachian Trail Hikers for break weeks, College Sorority gatherings, Mission Leadership weekends for youth groups, family reunions, painting workshops, cross-country bikers and more.
Why they chose this property
Springfield Farm is truly special. Nestled in the beautiful New River Valley, it is a scenic 11 mile drive to Radford, VA, an easy 20 mile jump to the Christiansburg/Blacksburg/Virginia Tech area, a next door neighbor to Claytor Lake and only 50 miles South on I 81 from Roanoke, VA.
Nearby, explore the New River, one of the oldest rivers in North America, known for its beauty and fishing. HIke, bike or ride the New River Trail, Virginia's longest linear trail. The views are exquisite. In Pearisburg, WV, just 30 miles north, hike the Appalachian Trail. Take a trip to Floyd, VA and enjoy their Arts/Craftsmen/Musicians or plan to attend any one of the many festivals in the area.
Or you may decide to stay put and enjoy the farm. Over 500 acres, it's the real experience - cattle at your gate, creeks, barns, mountain ridges, even the sound of peacocks drifting over from up the hill. During every season, the space for outdoor activity is extensive - hiking, biking, running, sledding, cross-country skiing and some of the most beautiful photographic & plein air painting opportunities imagined.
What makes this property unique
The Creek House has all the qualities of home. The interior reflects a simple country charm that's both comfortable and relaxing. The living areas are spacious providing guests wonderful flow for large groups. The dining table sits 10 easily. The front porch is ready for visiting together with a cup of coffee or sharing the day's stories while grilling dinner with cows mooing, the creek gurgling and peacocks calling. Our memories from the farm are far and away our family's favorite.
