We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at the Alamo house. It’s very convenient to everything. It’s a cabin that sits right on the creek which was our favorite part.
Perfect long weekend in Boone! Great location for skiing, hiking and downtown visits. Our family had a wonderful time. The house was clean and cozy. We had everything we needed to grill out. We absolutely loved the river views and hot tub.
This is a fantastic property. Location is wonderful and the river in the back yard really makes the experience. It is an older home without some of the most advanced modern services, but that was exactly what we were looking for. I will stay here again on my next visit.
We enjoyed our stay, we especially loved the river in the backyard. The weather was chilly and windy, so we didn’t spend much time near the river but it was great scenery.
The location was convenient to Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. Around 5 to 6 miles to each. We spent some time in the hot tub over looking the river. It was a great trip. My kids didn’t want to leave.
Every year I spend a week with my four older grandchildren. We call it Camp T-Ma. (T-Ma is my grandmother name) The kids loved the river, climbing on the rocks, swimming and fishing. They camped out, or tried to, one night in a tent. We went to Grandfather Mountain, and then hiked a great trail on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Another day we drove to Damascus to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail. The hot tub was a big hit! We loved it!!!
The house was great ! Rustic but clean. The River was great for fishing and tubing ! The fence could use some work- close to Boone - would love to go back!!
We truly enjoyed staying at this mountain house. Authentic cabin with all of the comforts of modern appliances and furnishings. Plus a hot tub! Ideal location to jump off to Boone, Valle Crucis, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Great cabin with old charm. Wonderful location and very easy access from main roads. The river and boulders around the property create a beautiful setting. Hope to come back in the summer sometime.
My wife and kids enjoyed this cabin. Between the rustic vibe, the river, the rocks in the backyard (great for climbing!), and the hot tub, it was the perfect home base for a Blue Ridge Mountain trip. As an added bonus, it's conveniently located near Boone, Blowing Rock, Sugar Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, etc. Highly recommend!

Just okay for the money
This was slightly more rustic than depicted. Old linens, minimal hot water and an over grown yard were not what I was expecting . The fenced in area for my dog was pretty small and was predominantly a giant slab of rock with tons of leaves and vines. It was lovely to be near the water, I really enjoyed hearing it while sitting on the back porch.
This is a special cabin. It's a little quirky but authentic to the feeling of being in the mountains and on the Watauga. We loved it! The cabin is warm in that it feels like you should relax and just enjoy your time right away. Excellent.
