Charming Ocean View Home With a Community Pool

Mermaid's Tale welcomes you to her adventure by the sea! We are directly across the street from beach access to the amazing white sand Ocean Isle Beach and also across the street from the Summer Place HOA pool. We have 4 comfy bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There are two 2nd floor bedrooms which have private baths with showers and 2 main floor bedrooms that share a large Jack and Jill bath with a tub/shower combo. The large vaulted central living room/kitchen/dining has plenty of space for your family or group to cook, dine and relax together. When we purchased the house we renovated the kitchen with a fresh white and turquoise color scheme, quartz island counter top, and new appliances. We replaced all the carpeting and bedroom flooring. There is a 55" TV in the living room, visible from the kitchen and dining areas. There is also house wide WIFI access. The covered front porch has limited ocean view but plenty of shade for morning coffee and lazy afternoons. The backyard is fenced and ready to hang out in and do some grilling. We absolutely love our home and Ocean Isle Beach for its relaxed and casual beauty and we know you will too!

Can’t wait to come back!

This was our 2nd year at Mermaid’s Tale and we were already planning our 3rd before we left. The house was exactly as described; clean, stocked throughout the house and beach chairs, games, etc. Communication with the owners was very fast and they were very accommodating. A major plus for being just across the street to the beach access and pool since we had some kiddos. Thank you for a great vacation!

Great vacation spot

We enjoyed our stay at this home. The short walk to the beach and parking for so many vehicles was great for our party of 8 since we are coming from many different directions and parking is always one of our main issues when trying to find a place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped. Only thing missing in kitchen is an ice maker in the refrigerator. We enjoyed each night on the front porch. Owner responded quickly to our inquiries. We would definitely stay here again.

Great time.

Family getaway

Perfect house for a family wedding weekend. Close to the beach with comfortable and clean accommodations. Hosts were extremely communicative and helpful. Home away from home

This house is adorable, open and inviting, and we felt right at home. Proximity to the beach is excellent and the front porch with cozy swing was the perfect place to hang out when not on the beach. The hot tub was a perfect end to our days at the beach. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely house

Great stay. I did reach out to the owner and sent a kind email to him as there were bugs (roaches) that we killed while we were there and wanted to give him a heads up. I really wish he would have gotten back to me but didn’t. We loved ocean isle.

Annual March Madness weekend

I believe this has been our fifth straight year that my buddies and I have stayed at the Mermaid’s Tale. The owners are fantastic, always making sure our stay is without a hitch. The house is furnished with everything we could possibly need. When we are preparing to leave there is no doubt amongst us guys that we will look at no other place than the Mermaid’s Tale for our weekend get together.

Great Location!

This was our first visit to OIB and it did not disappoint. The house was in a great location close to the beach, pool and the town/pier. We had a few issues with the house but the owner was very quick to respond to any concerns we had and took care of them right away. Overall I would recommend this property and OIB.

Nice Holiday

Despite frigid temperatures the first couple of days, we really enjoyed our stay. The house had a rough time staying warm on those days but that is expected from a beach house during the extreme temperatures. The hot tub helped on the cold night. Beds were extremely comfortable and the location was top notch. We'd definitely go back.

Always enjoy our stay at Mermaid's Tail. Perfect location and very well appointed. Fully outfitted kitchen with everything you'd need. Disappointed in the new refrigerator since it didn't have an ice maker but we bucked up and made it through. ;o) See you next year!

Takes on the Tale

This place was everything as advertised. It starts with an attentive owner that goes above and beyond to ensure that you are informed on all facets for your stay, as well as updating you throughout the week on key items.The home was clean, well decorated and the kitchen was fully stocked. Beach access across the street made for an easy beach trek. We definitely enjoyed our week on the front porch, and look forward to returning to the MT.

Great Family Vacation

Family vacation with my children and three grandchildren under one! It was amazing! First let me say the LOCATION is perfect! Pool is literally across street and beach access is right in front of house! The home is beautiful and the owners have thought of everything! I was so impressed by the things they had available to us. Bikes, beach chairs, beach toys, umbrellas…the list goes on! The kitchen is fully equipped and even had basic spices and things you hate to buy for a week away. If you need anything don’t hesitate to message the owner he will get back to you immediately! I highly recommend this beautiful home! You will not be disappointed!🏖️☀️🤩

Cute place but a couple issues

We loved how close to the beach the rental was with ample parking available which was a bonus and we all enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Host was very responsive to all inquiries which was nice too. We did have a couple small issues. Electric outlets in bathrooms did not work and were not fixed by resetting them, gas grill was not in working order (problem with leaking tank & rust on the grilling surface), we killed 2 cockroaches and even though the listing said bikes were available from May 1st (we rented 4/30-5/3), they were not on site. Realize our rental date started the last day of April but we were there for 3 days in May. I would have brought my own bike if I knew theirs weren't available. Also we found that there was garbage in the recycling bins so that negated being proactive with recycling and there was an electric griddle that was not clean, grease on top and in catch cup under it. All in all a cute place but could use a little more attention to these details.

We relocated to Ocean Isle Beach, NC from St. Paul, MN and loved it! We have always been avid boaters with a deep love of the outdoors and especially the beach. When the opportunity arose to come to OIB, we jumped at the chance to live near the ocean. We had 2 daughters in college and an empty nest, so we decided to fill our extra time with buying a beach house and making it our own. We spent the 6 months after we arrived renovating our house and turning it into "Mermaid's Tale". We are excited to share it with you!

Why they chose this property

Our family was initially drawn to Ocean Isle Beach because of the call from the ocean after living in the Midwest our whole lives. So, when we started researching the properties on the Island, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to be right across the street from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Not to mention when you want to get away form the salt and sand, we are also directly across from our local community pool. With the kids not living at home anymore, we had plenty of time to renovate Mermaid's Tale and turn it into our dream ocean side home. In addition, an ideal vacation rental with its four bedrooms and three full baths for plenty of privacy and comfort. Vacation groups and families will also enjoy the combined kitchen-dining-living space for games, relaxing, and group meals. Although Mermaid's tale is a rental, we hope you will be able to feel at home and as comfortable as we do when staying here in OIB!

What makes this property unique

The ocean view at Mermaid's Tale and the sound of crashing waves through open windows or from the porch are what initially drew us here. The open floor plan perfectly fits the way we live and entertain. I still pinch myself every time I walk across the street for my beach walk!
