Cosy, comfortable cottage in a good location.
The owners provide everything you would ever need in this old cottage. Welcome eggs and homemade marmalade on arrival and a friendly welcome from the owner. Location good although have to drive to eat out at local pub in evening. Can walk to a small local beach. Fantastic location for exploring the peninsula.
Lovely rural cottage
Idyllic location, beautiful walks to nearby beach and Cloghane village and short drive to Connor Pass/Dingle.
Wonderful garden with plenty of scope for games and adventure for the children.
We loved the cottage and its idyllic situation. The owners were most helpful and friendly and we particularly enjoyed the fresh eggs and utterly delicious cake that greeted our arrival. The spaciousness of the cottage and its garden were a great bonus
There's an amazing local shop 3 kms away and, though we mostly did our own cooking, the local pubs provided particularly fine fish and chips and great hospitality. Thoroughly recommended.
Thank you for your review which will be helpful to future guests. As you say, the cottage and garden are spacious and it is difficult to show this in photographs. I will also pass on your compliments to the local shop who have to constantly strive to compete with the big giants! We are happy you had an enjoyable holiday in the Cloghane Brandon area.
Great family break..
Bats in the roof space added a nature experience to a great break!
There have been bats in the roof space of Direen Cottage for at least 50 years and even remained there when the cottage was reroofed. They go in for the 2 month breeding season and then leave after the summer to hibernate. They are a protected species in Ireland and are completely harmless. Their presence adds to the wonderful natural garden that extends around the cottage. We were delighted you enjoyed your family break in Cloghane.
Wonderful Kerry Getaway
My wife and I really liked this farmhouse. Close to beaches and walks; it is a short drive to decent grocery stores and restaurants; well suited to our interests!
