The house was clean, charming and well supplied with cooking utensils, towels etc.
The location was perfect for our visit to the area.
I would stay there again.
Beautiful farm house, lovely views and we loved the cows! nice fence to keep our doggies in the yard and close enough to town if you need to get something.
Myself and 2 girlfriends spent 4 days here and loved every moment! It was quiet and peaceful...just what we were looking for. The house is very well equipped, so all we needed to bring was our food and wine....of course! We each had our own bedroom which were all comfortable and roomy. The host was most friendly and responded quickly when we needed something. Great place overall!
We travel all over the USA and this, by far, has been our absolute favorite stay. Everything from owner communication, to the property being in superior condition with cleanliness, stocked with everything you could possibly need, to the stocked coffee bar, fresh beef, incredible and peaceful atmosphere and views ~ I can’t say enough great things about this amazing place. We will 100% be back. We left feeling refreshed, revived, and relaxed. It is bar none ~ AMAZING!! You will love your stay here.
This property is a beautiful peaceful place. We were able to relax and reconnect. The accommodations lacked for nothing. The backyard is fenced and definitely dog and toddler friendly. I hope we will get a chance to stay again in the future.

Fall visit
Very nicely decorated house. Outside steps to house are tall and need a railing. Other than that is was wonderful. So quiet and peaceful.
Property was immaculate and cozy! Loved all the unique decorations and picture. A group of us drove up from the Virginia coast to attend a wedding in Peaks of Otter. In between festivities we enjoyed the awesome fire pit and inviting front porch. I wished we had been able to stay at least one more day to soak in the ambiance!
This was the last stop of a week long road trip and it was perfect! Our dog had a blast in the fenced in yard and we all loved seeing the cows every morning.
Beautiful home with thoughtful amenities. The kids felt like they were in a hotel with the bathrobes provided in each room.
Before our arrival to the property the owners were very quick to respond to questions that were asked. On arrival check-in was very easy. The house was phenomenal the owners have not missed anything in this house right down to the small details. Each room in the house felt very comfy in the feeling of being home. The cleanliness of the house was superb. The property what's gorgeous peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be staying there again sooner than later.
This house is truly a gem. The decor is beautiful and all the rooms were so tastefully decorated. The bedrooms all had window AC units so we were all cool and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The living room was large and had plenty of comfy seating for 4-5 adults. We loved the fenced in yard for our fur babies. The host was very kind and accommodating. We highly recommend this home. You will not be disappointed!
The house was perfect for our two families to escape. The house cute and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Our toddler enjoyed seeing the cows every morning . He learned to say "moo" and we enjoyed the mountains and the nightly firefly show. The owner and her husband were welcoming and very responsive when we had a problem with the internet. Highly recommended.
Our family enjoyed 4 nights at the Old Red Inn relaxing on the porch swing, listening to the screech owls at night, and enjoying the beautiful views of the mountains and cow pastures. The house is very clean, the beds comfortable, and the location is convenient to Bedford and the D-day Memorial as well as Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Ellisa was very responsive to our needs and even ordered a pound cake from a friend for our son’s 23rd birthday when I asked about getting one as a surprise. I hope we will be back to visit this house as well as the new house across the street once it is completed!
We received no check-in or house instructions. I contacted owner to receive checkin instructions per VRBO. Elissa got back with me after I received no response to my first two msg. She send me checkin instructions but assured me VRBO would send instructions day before and I would get instructions twice which I didn’t . After our initial difficulties the trip was very nice. The house was clean and well equipped. The beds slept very comfortably. The house has so much character and a wonderful front porch. I personal favorite were the window treatments very nice I love them. The owners special touches like bathrobes in rooms and coffee bar are nice extras. Wonderful 2 day stay.
Great place, easy reach for many sites, beautiful old farmhouse. My dog had a blast with the fenced yard and cows nearby. Every amenity you forgot—and some you didn’t think of. 5 stars isn’t enough. Put away your phone and enjoy the moment!
We booked this home in order to enjoy Christmas with family. It far exceeded our expectations. TWO beautifully decorated trees in living and dining room! We’ve rented many homes over the years and, by far, this was the nicest one. Our hosts thought of everything. Being in the country was a plus…yet only 15 minutes to stores etc. 5*****
It's clean and well stocked. Quiet location.
Any questions were very promptly answered.
Appomattox, D Day Memorial, and Poplar Forest are all excellent day trip activities.
We loved it.
The moment we walked into the house it felt very inviting and welcoming. It is that feeling when you have arrived "HOME" The house is absolutely lovely. The location was very quiet. It was nice to walk out mornings to have coffee and sit and watch the cows in the pasture and in the evenings come back and see deer grazing in the yard or sit on the front porch and chat with the grand kids. The yard and surrounding area is very well kept. If we had had more time we would have taken advantage of the fire pit and grill. Just not enough days this trip as we did day trips with the grand kids but would definitely love to return to this lovely home with the family our just my husband and myself. Every room had its own special touch. The kitchen was very nice and well stocked with everything you would need. The little pantry off from the kitchen with the tea and coffee area is very quaint and a nice touch as well. It is well stocked with everything you would need upon your arrival to start your morning. We had a nice gift of fresh beef waiting for us when we arrived that we all enjoyed very much. The grand kids loved having their own rooms. They also enjoyed playing the games that were there in the evenings. Wifi worked great, I will say though if you need phone service walk out to the driveway and it will pick right up. For us it was a nice way to unwind from all of that and did not miss it at all. It only took us a day to get the lay of direction down. We took the grand kids to the Virginia Safari Park, Natural Bridge Zoo, went tubing on the James River in Buchanan with Twin River Outfitters, ate at Buchanan Fountain and Grille twice because the grand kids loved it and also they walked across the Buchanan Swinging Bridge. We stopped at the scenic views of Montvale Overlook and also Porter Mountain View which are lovely. Saw a Mama Deer and her 2 young fawns not farm from the house as well as a flock of turkeys. There is nature all around, you just have to stay still and let it come out. If you have time don't miss the little town of Bedford that has so much to offer as well with the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford and the Bedford Boys Tribute Center. The Welcome Center there is very nice. We also took a side drive to the Peaks of Otter and watched deer pick apples out of a tree to nibble on. A drive over to Roanoke if you can stay awake from all the fresh air and watch the Mill Mountain Star light up. Seriously so much to do or not whichever you choose
