We had a great week in this house. The kitchen is well equipped, and had everything we needed. The bathroom floors could use updating and one bathroom could use some work, but overall we had a nice stay.

Great little house 4 bed, 4 bath is suitable for a good size family. Dinning seats a large number of people and the large sectional is a plus. Beach access is steps away and you get a peak at the ocean between the other houses.The house has dents and dings as any well used home does but I'd stay here again for sure. Proactive keeps you informed and sends plenty of communications. Check in/out is easy.

We enjoyed the property very much. Ideal location and plenty of room for 6 people.There was a bit of a bug problem, but I expect that in the area. The kitchen was stocked with all utensils, pitchers and anything else we could need. Front porch was great!

Rest A Shore had everything we needed and so close to the beach. Very relaxing. Home away from Home. 8 people stayed here and it was very spacious to our needs. Would recommend this to everyone.

We have stayed in Holden Beach several years. We have used local realtors and HomeAway. I liked HomeAway because they used to provide everything: sheets , towels, soaps, toilet tissue,etc. This made traveling far much easier. Now it is just like every other realtor. The house we stayed in had several problems. We had many cockroaches, a broken refrigerator shelf bar, a dirty sheet was left on the floor of the twin bed room, blankets were just thrown on the closet floor, the washing machine appears to have a problem with ballbearings. I would not rent this particular house again. We did enjoy the marsh views and closeness to the beach. The beach is what we come for.

We do apologize for the confusion regarding linens and disposable goods. Our rental agreement, descriptions, and check-in instructions do all reflect this information. It is customary of all management companies at Holden Beach to furnish bed linens within the rental price, but not bath linens and disposable goods. The broken shelf in the refrigerator was repaired. We were not aware of any bed linens being misplaced. There were no cockroaches at the property. This property along with all of our properties have regularly scheduled pest control. The washing machine appears to be working fine with no problems. When we are notified of any problems we do promptly respond to insure that your vacation is satisfactory.

Needs serious maintenance and cleaning

Although we did the best with what we had and enjoyed our family Easter weekend, the state of the property was absolutely disappointing. Upon arrival the linens were in plastic bags and none of the beds were made. While the sheets were washed, the comforters clearly had not been washed in sometime as they were visibly dirty. One of the mirrors in the bathroom was no longer attached to the wall and sat beside the sink. The company was notified and we were told that maintenance would be by that day to fix it. They never came. We had to borrow blankets from family local to HB. Toilet seats were cracked. None of the windows in the house worked so we could not open them to enjoy the weather. There were ants in the kitchen and the bathmats had not been washed and wet seems like several months. They were filthy. Overall the property needed a lot of attention and should not be rented in that state. We were not offered any remedy for the inconveniences. After stopping by the rental office on our way out, I was told that they had received the photos of the different issues throughout the house. I never sent any photos so that was not even truthful.

Great location. Needs some TLC

The location and views were awesome. Very short walk to the beach, oceanview from front porch and marshview from back porch. Bedrooms were large each having their own bathroom. Home was not clean upon arrival. Floors were 'crunchy' and counters had a layer of film and grit. Outside outlet sparked and shot flames when plugging my laptop in. Shock and fire hazard for sure. Toilet seat in back bathroom was split in half and unusable. Only 4 forks so we had to share. Property maintenance (including spraying for bugs) and cleaning needs to be done.

Great location

Holden Beach Island itself and the location of this property on it is very hard to beat. Literally steps away from a beautiful beach. Views of both the marsh and beach breathtaking. However, the property itself was a bit disappointing. The house (and surrounding yard) was kind of shabby and felt unkept. The landscaping pictured is non-existent. Windows so dirty you couldn't really enjoy the views from them. There was actually plaster hanging/falling from a couple of the ceilings. Drywall had holes in it. We dealt with more than a few bugs. (We stay at the beach a LOT and I know to expect bugs, so I don't say that lightly). The bathroom rugs were downright disgusting. Master bathtub clogged so badly it was unusable to shower in. Kitchen was incredibly well stocked with dishes, pans etc with the exception of dinner forks; there were exactly 4. The lights for both sets of (steep) outside stairs do not work, which made them a bit scary to climb/descend at night. But again, the location of the property is hard to beat. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have their own bathrooms which is a big plus. Huge table for family dinners. Living room has a huge (looked new) comfortable sectional couch. The beach was clean. The Island is lovely and perfect for families.

Excellent home

We were very impressed with this house. We were pleasantly surprised to see updated living room furniture. There is a large sectional couch instead of what is shown in the pictures. Kitchen has all the needs to cook. Bedrooms were fantastic. There some minor details missing, most notably the rods to open and close blinds in the living room and lack of curtains in the downstairs bedroom, but that in no way detracted from our enjoyment. Location is awesome for the second row. Clean view to the beach and access right across the street. Thanks for a great week.

A Much Needed Pandemic Escape!

This property was just as described and has everything you need for a relaxing coastal get away. The marsh views on the back of the property were beautiful and the front porch is perfect for sitting out a storm or late night conversations. If you are traveling with infants/toddlers you might want to bring a baby gate or something to block off the indoor stairs, which are quite steep. We had a tough time keeping our 15 month away from them. She's usually fine with stairs, but these were too steep for her to climb safely. Also, the house had a broom but no dustpan, but that was easily remedied by a quick trip to the store. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation week at this property and will likely stay here again.

Overall it was great

Great location! The house had some palmetto bugs running around but given the location that may just come with the territory. The property manager said the houses are treated every few months for bugs. Overall, it was a great time and we would rent this property again.

Overall Stay

We had an amazing stay at Rest A Shore! The issues we wanted to make you aware of is that there could be more chairs on the front porch, and one of the chairs was falling apart. When we entered the house, there were dead bugs on the floor all throughout the house. There was a mildew ring forming around the toilet bowl in the bathroom downstairs. Also, the blinds in the living room only had one rod to open or close all blinds and that was annoying.

A wonderful time at the Beach

We reserved this property 6 moths ahead of time.... March for September ! It was for my Birthday with my kids - all in their 20’s... Not thinking about it being Hurricane season.... as it turned out there was a hurricane headed for NC coast just a few days before our scheduled visit - as it turned out it did not hit & we were able to make the trip - the rental company worked very hard to make our visit possible - kudos to all of them !!! The house was perfect for us ! 4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms - PERFECTION ! And beach access so close ! Great kitchen - but also restaurants & shops close by for a quick meal or ice cream treat ! I think next time we will bring or rent bikes - great place to ride ! Lots of shells - we had a great time !!

Holden Beach vacation

We enjoyed this house. It was clean , well furnished and had a well stocked kitchen. The beach was wide and the beach access was close. Will stay there again in the future.

Nice home with a nice view

This home has plenty of room for a large family or even two families. It was very clean, the kitchen offered plenty of seating and was well stocked. Loved the rocking chair front porch, can't ask for a better view for a second row home. Loved that there were plenty of bathrooms. It's close to beach access, which is always nice with little ones. The view from the back deck was beautiful as well! We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and comfortable home with a wonderful view of the ocean and salt marsh

We very much enjoyed our stay at Rest A Shore. We loved the quick access to the beach (50 feet away) and it was very comfortable for two families with small children. We enjoyed the view of the ocean from the front porch and the salt marsh from the back porch. The home was just as described. Our only complaint is our encounter with roaches that came out at night- the home would benefit from a pest treatment. P.S. the home does not provide towels so make sure you bring your own.

4 stars because some updates on furniture/ bedding is needed but we do like this home. We have stayed here on 2 different trips and enjoy it very much. The location is fantastic to the beach access and with the empty lot across the street it has an ocean view. The rates are very affordable. The house was cleaner this time than the last time we stayed so that was a huge plus. The kitchen is well equipped but could use an update on a couple of the appliances. The blender did not work and the can opener took a little finess to operate. The bedrooms are spacious and nicely furnished but the queen mattress downstairs was squeaky and the master king upstairs was uncomfortably hard and squeaky as well. Overall this home is a winner in our book and we look forward to coming back.

Fall family getaway

My husband, daughter and I stayed in this home for our yearly family October vacation. Holden beach is beautiful, quaint, and quiet. This home is good for the money, but could really use a better cleaning and some updates. The carpet was peeling up in the downstairs bedroom, the ceiling was peeling in the upstairs bathroom, there was a blanket in the closet that smelled like it needed to desperately be washed, the lights on the stairs outside were burnt out and there was a piece of wood missing from the back porch which a small child could easily fall through. Toaster smelled like it was going to catch fire when we tired to use it and made a horrific buzzing sound, air conditioning will not go below 68 degrees and the downstairs bedroom got extremely warm at night. Good location, great view of the ocean, and house is spacious with comfortable furniture.

This privately owned vacation rental was purchased just before your arrival. The items that you mentioned have either been corrected or scheduled to be corrected. We and the previous owner were aware of the pealing paint on the bath ceiling. We also had the HVAC serviced to make sure it was functioning properly. The property will receive a good spring type cleaning at the end of this rental season. We welcome you and your family visiting with us again and I apologize for our short comings. Great place for families

Will definitely look into staying here again. Reasonable rates and a Great place to stay with beach access close by. Easily accommodated our group of 4 adults and 3 children. Nice sized bedrooms. Very nice, modern, well working appliances. The front porch has rocking chairs to relax and with an empty lot across the street, there is a nice view of the ocean. The toaster could stand to be replaced, and there were a few areas in the bedroom and bathrooms that Coulf have been cleaned a little better, but in the grand scheme, no major complaints.
