The property is located across the street from the Double Musky so it was perfect for dinner and a weekend escape. We both commented on how great the bedding smelled.

Thanks you, this property with 4 cottages is located directly across from Alaska's famous Double Musky Restaurant and offers an incredible hot tub to soak in before or after diner or a great day adventuring.
My wife and I stayed one night and as a hobby wood worker I can't say enough about what a pleasure it was to stay at Carriage House. The timber frame structure was beautiful, the custom cabinets and trim were impeccable, and the gazebo that housed the hot tub has to been seen to be appreciated. Ladies, if your man likes to work with wood this is a place they've got to see.
The Carriage House has a couple of properties to rent, and Tecumseh's Cozy Stall was indeed cozy. The king bed is super comfy, and the fluffy towels made the show a delight. It is an easy walk on a path into the small town, and across the street from the well loved Double Musky.

This was an excellent choice for my husband and I to stay during our vacation to Alaska. The place was clean. The owners were very accommodating. The hot tub was an added bonus. Two thumbs up for The Double Musky restaurant across the street. Couldn't ask for anything more. Just perfect!!!

Thank you!
The Carriage House Chalet Units are nestled in the trees and 2 acres along California Creek. Built by your host and master craftsman Jake Thompson, these cottages will warm you, not just from the radiant heat in the floors, but with rustic elegance and dream beds with superior linens.
Stayed here for a quick overnight getaway with my husband. Super clean, comfortable, and in a nice location. My only complaint is I reached out to the property owner on two occasions, once by email and once by text message, and never heard back from her. Other than that it was an absolutely wonderful stay. The woodworking is gorgeous. Super cozy and delightful.

Nice property, limitations on hottub use
The property was nice with all the basic necessities. Everything was clean and felt brand-new.
We did have a problem with the use of the hottub, which was actually one of the main reasons we selected this property. First of all, it "closes" at 10pm, OK. Prior to our arrival we asked the owner about the hottub, voicing our intent to use it. However, when we got back from dinner at 9:30pm the lights around the hottub were turned off. It was very dark outside with no street lights or anything to illuminate the pathway. We called and texted the owner asking to turn the lights back on, but didn't hear back from them until the next morning. We went ahead and used the hottub anyway, but at a cost of stumbling on objects to get to it. It felt like the use of the hottub was discouraged, which is unfortunate given that it is displayed as the property's main picture.

Were glad you found Carriage House Accommodations new units well equipped. However we are sorry that the hot tub closure at 10pm was an inconvenience, this time is for the comfort of all guests. The lights are on a timer, and with the daylight savings time change they went off an hour earlier from where they should have gone off...our apologies. The hot tub is a beautiful and soothing amenity that we want all guests to enjoy responsibly, not discourage the use of.
Everything was perfect for our short stay in Girdwood. Especially convenient for dining at the double musky. We would definitely choose to stay here again if we are ever back in town!
We had a great experience staying at the Carriage House. I highly recommend the Double Musky, though all of the restaurants in Girdwood were excellent. If you want to go hiking and spot moose, just keep driving north on Crow Creek Road. There are many trails that branch off of the road. I would recommend getting a moose horn, bear spray if you want to hike, we also saw mountain lion tracks.. We saw moose cross the road as we were driving, drive with caution.
I wasn’t sure what to expect as we haven’t stayed there before, but the craftsmanship of the woodwork in the cabin is beautiful!!! The room was cozy, clean, and had everything you needed to cook meals. My husband use the hot tub and then quickly decided that we needed one at home! So needless to say that was an added bonus.. we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.
Absolutely love the place it was clean it was easy and I absolutely love the fact that it was right across from the double musky!

We enjoyed our stay very much. Very nice owner. Loved the history of the place. My only two suggestions would be to have hotter water in the shower and the hot tub.
We loved our stay! The hot tub was nice and very clean. The space was thoughtfully and beautifully designed and decorated. We will definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by Rachel Hatcher
Rachel Hatcher, the last of 7 girls, grew up on a family farm in West Jupiter, Florida, where along with her sisters raised and trained horses and cattle, and showed through the 4-H program. She attended Florida Atlantic University and graduated with a bachelor of Finance with a minor in Accounting . After working in Public Accounting for several years, she realized sitting behind a desk was not her cup of tea. She met Jake in 1991 and soon after took a long sabbatical to travel Australia and New Zealand by bicycle, which opened her eyes beyond the corporate ladder and and eventually brought her to Alaska in 1994
Jake Thompson, grew up in the Panama Canal Zone, and spent many summers in Sabula, Iowa where his mother’s side of the family is from. Jake is the 3rd generation from Panama with grandparents that went to work on the Panama Canal in 1905. A few years after graduating High School, Jake came to the States and lived in Tallahassee, Florida where he played Rugby and pursued a trade education. Jake ended up in the construction field and his love of woodworking led to the desire to build timber frame homes, and the Carriage House Accommodations is a fine example of his work.
Why they chose this property
The Carriage House Estate, acquired in 1996, includes two homes built by your host Jake Thompson on 2 landscaped and wooded acres along California Creek, with great views of the surrounding mountains and forest. The main home/lodge, a 4,500 square foot custom timber frame with massive beams, river rock fireplace and beautiful craftsmanship throughout, has operated as a Bed & Breakfast since 1999. The Chalet, an 1,860 square foot timber frame Barn, originally built in 2005 to be used by owner Jake Thompson as his wood shop and stalls for the two Percheron draft horses, Kobuk & Tecumseh “the boys” used in the Carriage business, with a hayloft above. Once the boys were retired the renovations of this building began, sanding all the beautiful Douglas Fir timbers and enclosing the stall areas. The transformation was amazing and the 3 new private units are all nicely appointed craftsman style luxury. The horses are no longer with us, but there memories are displayed in the Cottages.
What makes this property unique
The Carriage House Chalet is nested in the spruce and hemlock trees on 2 acres, along California Creek with great views of Alyeska and Max's mountain. Located on the edge of the Girdwood townsquare, within easy walking distance to many restaurants (directly across from the Double Musky Restaurant), and shops and only 1 mile to Alyeska Ski Resort. Numerous trails can be accessed right out the door in the Chugach State and National Forests that surround this property.
