About this property

Centrally located on Mount Desert Island, the house is conveniently located, less than 4 miles to main entrance to Acadia National Park and a few miles more to downtown Bar Harbor. Also convenient to other hiking, biking, and water activities on the quiet side of the island. We do not require a Saturday to Saturday rental. If you have ever tried to arrive or leave the island on a Saturday, you know there is a lot of traffic because everyone else is coming and going during that day. We give a discounted rate for weekly or monthly rentals and we will add a mid month cleaning at no additional charge for monthly rentals. You are also dealing directly with the owner, not an agent.

We do not accept payment by check of any kind.

The house has a large kitchen, dining room, living room, and 1/2 bath downstairs with deck and outdoor table. Upstairs is a large master bedroom suite (queen bed) with full bath with shower and separate tub. The suite has an attached bonus room over the garage furnished with a full-sized futon and desk. There are 2 other bedrooms on the other side of the house with another full bath/shower. One of those bedrooms has a queen-sized platform bed, the other has two twin beds. There is a flatscreen TV in each bedroom. The washer and dryer are located upstairs.

The house is located on a private quiet road and is surrounded by trees. Relax outside on the front porch or on the back deck.

Great place to stay in Bar Harbor

The home was very comfortable and suited our 6 person stay perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped as were the rest of needed items, like towels, etc. There was a nice size dining table that fit our group and there was a feeling of spaciousness. If we were to come back to Bar Harbor we’d love to stay again. Also Jo was a responsive host and communicator. This makes such a difference to us travelers.

Fox Haven Heaven

While we saw no foxes during our stay, it was a heavenly place for us. Clean, roomy, well appointed with plenty of extras in the kitchen, and the owner was very responsive when we had a couple of questions. We especially appreciated the location. We like to hike the island and access to all parts of Mount Desert was easy from Fox Haven. We hope to visit again.

The size of the house with multiple bathrooms was perfect for 5 grandmas. The property was wonderful with trees and plants and an awesome back deck. Property was exactly like the pictures. Hosts were responsive and very nice. We highly recommend this property.

Wooded escape

The house is on a wooded lot, very private and a total escape - yet convenient to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. It is beautiful and provided more than enough room for our family of four. The beds are comfortable and the living room is a great space. I wish we had stayed longer!

We love the outdoors but when the daylight is done we also love our internet (TV, movies, and baseball).

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the area on various trips that took us by Acadia National Park. Acadia has so much to offer if you enjoy the outdoors: hiking with incredible mountain views of the ocean, biking on the carriage trails, canoeing on a lake, kayaking in the ocean, side trips to nearby islands, plus the convenience of good restaurants nearby (popovers!). You may see a deer wander down the street or a fox or a hummingbird passing by.

What makes this property unique

We chose the house for its spaciousness, wooded surroundings, great central location on the island, the convenience of good internet (cable), and the general sense of peace we got when we walked in.
