About this property

In Town and a Quick Walk to Acadia National Park

This newly renovated three-bedroom and two-bath house on Ledgelawn Avenue features a happy backyard, plenty of sleeping area, and a small office where an internationally best-selling novel was written. Really.

There's a grill outside on the deck, a second oven, a big gravel driveway and it's all in incredibly close proximity to Great Meadow Loop (for a hike), the Park Loop Road and in-town Bar Harbor. Lilacs bloom. Birds sing. And it's an incredibly happy place to enjoy Bar Harbor.

One of us writes books for children and young adults. The other one has spent most of his adult life protecting and serving the people of Bar Harbor.

This house on Ledgelawn is where we spent a lot of happy time, celebrating the awesomeness that is Bar Harbor.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property because we love Bar Harbor and its quirky, outdoorsy appeal. Ledgelawn Avenue has always been a place for families. Even though Bar Harbor is so small, thousands of trick-or-treaters come to our door. On the Fourth of July, the parade stages at the ballfield and finishes on this street. This is small town America at its best. Right here.

And then there's the park. You can run out the door, turn left and in less than five minutes, you are in one of the most beautiful places in the country.

It's hard to beat that.

What makes this property unique

We love the front porch, the neighbors. We love the way the lilacs smell in Spring and the way the cook-outs smell in the summer. The back yard with its deck and trees just beyond the fence, make you feel secluded even though it's just a short jaunt into town.

There are lots of tiny quirks in the house like an occasional old-fashioned light fixture, double ovens, and an overall light and airy feel.
