About this property
Townhouse Art Gallery in Mammoth's Best Location
TThis is our real, actual home. We rent it while we're away.
It's big—nearly 1,500 square feet, and it's comfortable. We spent a year renovating. We installed new floors and new carpets, repainted, installed new toilets, new faucets, new lighting, heaters, wifi thermostats, new electrical panel, high speed internet, etc., etc. Everything works great and looks fresh and clean.
Before you book, please review the Renter Instructions to read our House Rules and make sure you’re in agreement.
The main level is a great room, with a big dining area that opens onto the living area with a big southeast window with views of trees and mountains. There are two large sofas, a 55" HD television with cable, Roku, and Netflix, plus my dad's small mahogany desk and a desktop computer and LED monitor you can use if you need to get some work done.
By the way, we like art so nearly all the paintings and the bronzes are originals. The few that aren't are signed lithographs by Chagall and others. The carpets are antique hand-knotted Persian rugs.
The internet connection is very fast, with both ethernet and Wifi available. Door entry is keyless, so you can check in with the door code we provide you the day of your arrival from 4 pm on.
There is a working fireplace with a cord of wood on the upstairs outside deck—half hardwood that burns hot and long, and half pine that's easy to start a fire with.
Rooms: Downstairs there are two large bedrooms, each with an en-suite full bathroom with new forced-air heaters and vents. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, two dressers, two large chairs, a large modern TV with cable, Roku, and Netflix.
The guest bedroom has an antique canopy queen bed, a large smart Roku TV with HD cable, Roku, and Netflix, a marble-topped antique dresser, a big clothes closet, and a tub in the bathroom..
In the large loft is a queen bed plus two twin-sized bunk beds. It serves as a third bedroom that can accommodate a family with two kids. There’s a wall-mounted large Smart Roku TV with cable and Netflix, plus a lovely blue leather sofa we brought from our last house. The main level bathroom is both powder room and loft bathroom.
We sleep in the loft during the winter, because it’s the warmest spot and we can see the sun gently coming up in the east from the living room windows. In summer, we move down to the guest bedroom the ground floor is about 10 degrees cooler than the outside. Of course, it averages about 75 F here in summer, so a hot day is maybe 85 F.
The full kitchen is equipped with range, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, coffee maker, popcorn maker, toaster, blender, electric kettle, French press, cast iron and non-stick skillets, pots and pans, kitchen essentials, plus some leftover staples that you're welcome to use—sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil, etc.
There is a full-sized laundry inside the unit with a large washer and brand-new large LG dryer. You'll find detergent, dryer sheets, and cleaning supplies provided for you on the upper shelf.
Outside Amenities: The hot tub and sauna are very near to our unit, plus there's a very pretty swimming pool that's heated in summer. The grounds are nicely landscaped and green, and under snow in winter. On the front porch outside there's a locking closet with a rack to hold up to 5 pairs of your skis and poles.
Parking: You can park up to two vehicles in the outdoor parking lot only about 30 feet from our front door (very nice when it’s snowing).
Location: We picked this complex not only because it's super quiet and surrounded by pine trees, but also because we wanted to walk to whatever we needed. We are just a half-block from the center of town, where you'll find the Von's supermarket and pharmacy, the town movie theater, Carl's Junior, Giovanni's, the best pizza parlor in town, etc. Another half block down Meridian Blvd. is the Mammoth Lakes Business Center and Domino's Pizza.
Transportation: At the edge of the driveway is the shuttle stop for Eagle Lodge. On the corner with Old Mammoth Road is the #8 Red Line shuttle stop. It's the shuttle stop you really want to get if you're going to the Main Lodge on a busy weekend, because it's only the second stop and you can always get a seat. The Red Line also stops at The Village, where you'll find the Village Gondola carrying skiers and riders up to Canyon Lodge. It's just 20 minutes from our stop #8 to the Main Lodge up top.
If you're looking for cross country skiing, it's easy to get a shuttle to Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center. But you can also walk or drive over to Shady Rest Park, where there are miles and miles of free groomed cross-country trails that are maintained by the City.
Weather: It rarely rains in the summer--it's pretty much always clear and sunny. Winter is a different matter…Mammoth has the most snow, the longest ski season, the biggest mountain…all of that good stuff. But the occasional big storm does bring powder days.
Restaurants: The center of town I mentioned that's half a block away—the corner of Old Mammoth Road and Meridian—is also the center of most of the restaurants in town. Within an easy walk are Rafters, Jimmy's Taverna, Red Lantern Inn, The Stove, Giovanni's Pizza, Blue, the Tavern, Delicious Kitchen, Thai'd Up, Salsa's Taqueria, Roberto's Mexican Restaurant, and Mammoth Rock'n'Bowl and Brasserie.
We welcome you to book with us! We know you’ll become part of our guest family and come back to stay with us on your next visit.
