The house was amazing, exactly what we needed. Lovely large kitchen/ dining room. House was warm (we stayed over new years) and comfortable. Parking was a bit of a challenge but we managed fine.
This is a beautiful well kept quiet village property. There is plenty of space inside and a lovely terrace and garden at the back with a view accros the valley.
Its a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Boscastle.
The road is steep with restricted parking which might be difficult if you have mobility problems otherwise this place is a treat.

Lovely cottage
Lovely, spacious cottage in great location. Our first trip to this part of Cornwall and we all loved it. Cottage has everything you'd need including 4 TVs and now WiFi broadband - you'll need it as there's no mobile signal. Housekeeper is friendly and does a good job of cleaning cottage. Beds are very comfy. Wonderful location just a short walk from shops and pubs/cafes/restaurants and the harbour. Garden is lovely with great views over Jordan Valley - we particularly enjoyed watching birds at the feeder outside kitchen/diner. Only thing to watch is you have to park carefully on narrow road outside.

Thank you for such a positive review.
We have tried to make the cottage comfortable for our visitors. The Wifi was something we felt would be of benefit to people staying in the cottage and are pleased it is appreciated.
My son loves fishing so I wanted a house near a harbour. This house is a short walk from Boscastle harbour and ideal if you want to explore the coast without the car. House is very functional and clean with a beautiful garden.
This house was great for our family of 5, short walking distance to the pubs and shops and boscastle is so much quieter than the bigger towns. Luckily we had booked tables for every evening in the local pubs, if we hadn't it would have been difficult to find somewhere. We used the car a couple of days and could always park on return, just a bit odd parking on double yellow lines, but everybody else does. We had a tesco food delivery on the first day, they did deliver there but the guy was not impressed when he had to climb out his passenger door!! Great house, great location for the bay, great staycation. Thanks Paul & Family.

Thank you for your review, I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your holiday at Tao and hope to have you as guests in the future.
The double yellow lines are not current, although they haven't been erased, they were for road maintenance a few years ago. It's misleading but nothing to be concerned about.
Best regards
Kay
Beautiful part of north Cornwall and a comfortable, spacious cottage.
Lovely patio area overlooking trees and within short walking distance down a steep hill to the village with shops and pubs/cafes.
Only negative is the parking, unfortunately our wing mirror got knocked off!

I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Tao Cottage and hope you will visit again in the future.
Old Road is one way and narrow in places. I will make sure to mention to future guests to fold in their wing mirrors to avoid damage.
Best regards Kay
A very enjoyable cottage to stay in.
Tao Cottage was perfect for our needs.
It's deceptively bigger than it looks from outside, and is well appointed.
Nice big kitchen diner leading to a lovely rear patio overlooking woodland.
A friendly grey cat joined us for a few days.
A short walk downhill leads into the village, where we had good meals and drink at the Cobweb and the chippy.
Uphill from the cottage is the Napoleon, that also does good food.
Parking outside the cottage is a bit tight... Although we always managed to get a spot.
Overall, a great place to stay.. clean and tidy with a lovely relaxed feel.
Really well equipped property in a great, central location in Boscastle, short walk from the harbour. Plenty of space for 6 adults, lovely back garden to sit out in. No parking at the house but plenty just down the road.
Great house in great location. Well equipped, walkable to dinner and pubs, choice of brilliant beaches, good videos (my kids fascinated by these!!) and games. Something for everyone and everything you need for a great week's holiday.

Lovely cottage
This property is located in Boscastle, close to the shops, river and port. It is beautifully presented and exceptionally clean and well equipped. We were able to walk to the centre of the village,to the port and river, and out onto the costal path. We had some lovely meals out in the area. The patio area in garden is lovely, very sunny and sheltered . The owner was available via phone to help with any queries.
The downsides are nit picky
1) there is no allocated parking place, but after speaking with the owner she explained where to park and which road markings to ignore.
2) There is a slight smell of damp - but the property didn't appear damp and after airing well daily it was fine. I would think this is typical of properties in this area
3) We were advised by owner that we have to strip beds otherwise cleaner charges more and this is taken out of the deposit. This is not really highlighted well in the booking information.
4) The cleaner didn't make up the beds exactly as we requested -
5) there is no upstairs bathroom, There is a good downstairs bathroom and separate cloackroom
All in all we had a good stay and would return there

Lovely cottage in a beautiful and tranquil village
We had a fantastic time at Tao Cottage - it was perfectly equipped for a family holiday with everything one needs at hand. It is in great condition and perfectly situated. Boscastle itself is a charming village, with friendly people and beautiful natural surroundings.
Highly recommended!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!
I have been to Boscastle many times growing up and my mum used to go when she was a child too but this was the first time I had stayed in the village.
We stayed at Tao for 3 nights and didn't want to come home! Kay has made the cottage feel like a home from home and you'll feel relaxed as soon as you walk in through the door.
Its very clean and tidy through out and all the pictures & ornaments just give it that finishing touch. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is great and well equiped and it was lovely with the sun coming through in the morning and the view is amazing. We didnt meet Colin the badger who lives in the garden but will certainly look out for him next time we stay.
We managed to park the car near to the cottage, the road is narrow so as long as you put your mirrors in then there's no problem.
The walk down the hill is about 3 minutes, but 5-10 minutes back up (it gets slightly easier each time) great exercise after eating lots of pasties!
The Cobweb does great food, the portions are HUGE!
You must also visit the pottery next door to the Cobweb where you can watch the "Boscastle Magic Paint"
We have already decided we will me staying at Tao again next year.

Thank you for giving Tao Cottage such a good review. We have gradually updated the cottage to a high standard and want our visitors to feel welcome. We love the cottage and Boscastle and try to go there as often as we can as well as letting it out.
Colin is still living at the bottom of the garden - I caught a glimpse of him in July.

super holiday cottage
Tao Cottage in Boscastle is a super holiday cottage. It is well managed and well equiped, with a large sociable kitchen and gorgeous garden. Comfortable, spacious and roomy house is well situated (on a steep hill) in the middle of beautiful Boscastle harbour town, and there is a footpath to the cliff walks across the road, and the harbour (etc) down the hill. What more could we want! This was our second visit to Tao Cottage - and are planning more!

About the host
Hosted by Kay Hopes
Although I now live in Surrey with my family I grew up in North Cornwall and went to school in Bodmin. I left Cornwall after my A levels to go to university in London. Cornwall is a very special place for me and I love nothing better than walking on the cliffs above Boscastle.
Since we have owned the cottage we have been gradually improving it to a very high standard. We hope that visitors to Tao will love the cottage as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
I wanted to take my children to Cornwall as it is a place close to my heart. We spent 5 happy holidays at Tao Cottage before the previous owners told us that they were selling the cottage as they were retiring. We loved both the cottage and Boscastle so were very happy when we were able to buy Tao. Boscastle is a beautiful village in a dramatic setting; nothing can beat the view of the village as you come down to it from Camelford. The local people are very friendly, the cottage is cosy and all in all it is a perfect place to relax and unwind.
What makes this property unique
Tao is a perfect place to stay in Boscastle. It is only a few minutes walk from the harbour and shops yet also quiet and peaceful as it is located in the Old Road away from the traffic coming into the village.
