This is a perfect house for a group of 8 or 10 people. The house is extremely well equipped, each room has an ensuite, there is a game room with a pool table and a hot-tub! The place is beautiful, with tons of space and is a perfect place to get together with family and friends. Lots of walks right from the house. The owner was very responsive and happy to help out with anything you need.

A Curate's Egg, good in parts
A large property and big enough for eight people to be comfortable. Views from the front of the property towards the River Dart were exquisite. Gardens not maintained as well as they might have been, they have huge potential. The house is furnished with French antiques, all acceptable, many very nice indeed. Bathrooms were modern and stylish. The kitchen is large and had all you would want for preparation of meals. Cutlery, crockery, glassware and other utensils often did not match or were not in prime condition. Lounges were comfortable and TVs were good with multiple channels. The principal Lounge and Dining Room were very impressive because of their size and furnishings.
We enjoyed our stay despite some misgivings.
The property has the most amazing view of the river and had everything we needed for a great stay including hot tub and games room. The owners are lovely and made sure we had all the info we needed for shopping, restaurants and activities. Perfect family holiday!
This is a lovely property with plenty of space for all. There were five of us but more would be fine. The bedrooms were spacious and it was lovely to all have ensuites with plumbing and equipment that worked well.
The games room was a favourite and the hot tub was much enjoyed. The secluded courtyard was a lovely spot and the garden very nice. Views over the valley were super and we greatly enjoyed hearing and seeing the steam trains pass by. Lovely to sit and have tea and cake!
Kitchen was well equipped but a little tired in places and rather a lot of chipped plates (not done by us). Enormous amount of fridge space and the dishwasher worked well.
Higher Greenway Barn is a stunning property in a beautiful location. We loved sitting out in the morning lazily watching the river activity and the occasional passing steam train. We enjoyed plenty of walks through ancient woodland and fields, Kingswear, Dartmouth, Dittisham and Greenway all easily accessible by foot and passenger ferries. The barn is spacious and well-appointed, and the games room was a great favourite. Would love to revisit and explore more of Devon.
Absolutely loved this property. Views over the River Dart were amazing, perfect for a morning coffee or afternoon drink. House much larger than photos suggest - 4 large bedrooms all ensuite, multiple reception rooms downstairs and Gardens front/back. Hottub was a perfect way to end each day. Lots to do in surrounding area. Short trip to ferry to Dittisham/Dartmouth. Brixham/Paignton all close by. Lots to do for children in area. Can't rate this property/location highly enough. Will definitely return when we can.
Very spacious accomodation with own secluded garden courtyard.
Images don't show the grandeur and large scale of the rooms; its a wonderful barn conversion with some lovely furniture. All bedrooms are en suite, and an extra toilet downstairs. Even the smaller 2 bedrooms are adequate size. The family all enjoyed the games room, and luxuriated in the hot tub in sun and rain ! We often ate supper in the garden.
Charlie was the most helpful host, available when needed, with good suggestions too (even shopped when we asked about spices!). Highly recommended.

Great guests, really looked after the house and even though the weather wasn't the best , i would highly recommend them .
Really very pleased with Higher Greenway Barn. There were only 4 of us, but we wanted a large spacious place as we each had our own agendas in the mornings and wanted our own space. Bedrooms are large, comfortable and with good bathrooms (including all with big walk in showers). With a huge kitchen/breakfast room, small family lounge, dining room, large lounge and games room there are lots of choices to spread out. Also two nice outdoor seating /table areas, but the weather didn;t allow for that. The view of the river Dart, with baots bobbing, and the steam train on its viaduct that comes by several times a day with a whistle is charming. Kitchen is generally well equipped with most things needed, though one or two odd things lacking (only found 4 normal water glass, but unlimited wine glasses). Big 4 door Aga with gas stove hob. Multiple fridges. Enjoyed the hot tub in the dusk several evenings. Charles was very welcoming, showed us around, and kindly gave us 4 cuts of ray he had caught himself which we enjoyed with beurre noir. This area of the Dart estuary is beautiful. Lots of walks on paths directly from the Barn to enjoy. Would happily come again, and could easily bring double the number of people comfortably.
The barn conversion is lovely and has stunning views over the estuary and the steam train that passes lower down. The accommodation has everything that you need and has a nice gas barbicue, hot tub and games room.
It is easily accessible for the Dittisum ferry takes about 15 mins. Dartmouth is absolutely lovely and can be reached by walking in around an hour. Alternatively you can catch the ferry.
There is lots to do in the area and many nice places to eat. The owner kindly recommended a few of them
We all thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Fantastic facilities to keep the whole family entertained. Fantastic location for views over the river. Charlie was very welcoming and showed us around the whole house upon arrival, explaining everything in detail.

Perfect for a special occasion
This was booked as a surprise for our daughters 30th birthday. It was so special we could not have chosen better. The view from the house was unbelievable, decor and finishing touches chosen with such care and taste and the games room and hot tub an added bonus. We were met by Charlie who could not have been more helpful and friendly.

A Wonderful Stay
Property was excellent - plenty of space for 3 generations. Immaculately presented by Charlie and Elena who were there to greet us and explain all with tips on where to visit and make the most of our week.
The local area has much to offer with National Trust properties and the icing on the cake being the ferry from Greenways Quay to Dartmouth.
Would definitely recommend this property.

fantastic weekend away
I cannot speak highly enough of this place. We were warmly greeted on arrival and given a thorough tour of the house and all it's facilities, which was considerably bigger and better than what we envisaged from the website. All rooms and facilities were finished to a very high standard.
There were nine adults in the house, and at no point did we feel on top of each other due to the two spacious living rooms, huge kitchen, games room amongst other places to chill out.
the hot tub was a very welcome addition, along with the Sky+ HD box which had both sky sports and BT Sport channels for the avid football fans in our party.
The views and surrounding area is beautiful, and walks are a must to explore the fantastic surroundings. We walked down to catch a little boat at Dittisham, across to the Ferry Boat Inn for a drink, then walked back.
an open log fire and woodburner were lit once we arrived back to warm us up again. The underfloor heating keeping feet warm also!
This place was a great way to spend my 30th birthday with friends, and I would not hesitate in booking it up to go again. Rain or shine, this house, it's facilities and the and surrounding landscape caters for all your needs, and for all ages.
The communications from the owners were superb, and always available if needed to help, but never intrusive.
A well earned 5/5 from myself and my friends. Thankyou!

New Years Stay 2013
What a warm welcome and amazing views immediatley you enter the grounds of the property. Charlie gave a very comprehensive tour of the house so we were able to utilise all of the amazing facilities this house has to offer. With four children from 2 - 8 yrs old we were never without fun despite the heavy rain. It allowed us easy access to the steam train, crabbing at Dartmouth and a trip to Plymouth aquarium. We also very much enoyed the pool and table tennis and the Wii along with several games of hide and seek in the vast expanse of the house which we all enjoyed. Not only did the kids love the hot tub but even in the cold weather a few evenings were uplifted with a soak in the warmth of the tub adding additional fun to holiday and New Year celebrations. The two living areas give a great feeling of space and the open fires were a welcome addition in the winter weather. Great location, great house, great facilities - do visit !!

About the host
Hosted by Mr and Mrs Sayers
We live in the Barn and have been here for three years with our dogs, we travel a lot and have family on the other side of the world. For some of the year we do bed and breakfast, but when we go on our travels, rather than leave this special house and home empty we rent it out. It has a magic that has left all our guests enchanted. We were going to move to Spain originally as we could not find anything that hit the mark, but just driving down the track to the property you immediately fall in love with everything. We have spent the last 2 years upgrading the barn which is over four thousand square feet of living area surrounded by National Trust land and set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. You don't need a car once your here, the walks from the front door are incredible.
Why they chose this property
The reason is magic, the pure magic of Greenway. It is so peaceful, an oasis overlooking the river with the steam trains below, who wouldn't want to live here.
What makes this property unique
Its a large and homely house with lovely rooms and stunning views of the river and woods and the viaduct. You find yourself so close to so much, yet once here - well you wont want to leave we think!
