About the host
Hosted by Mark Scott

My Name is Mark Scott. The Log Cabin was built by my Father Michael in 1974 and has been our family holiday home ever since. I run the bookings for the Cabin on behalf of my brother David and my sisters Claire and Serena. We all love the place and holiday there regularly with our own families and friends. We pride ourselves in this being a small family venture, not a large commercial enterprise and we keep the Cabin looking warm and homely, not empty and stark like many holiday cottages. The place has bags of character and many people have been returning to holiday there for years, drawn back by its individual character and charm. If you make a booking you will deal with me directly, not a call centre or an appointed agent.
Why they chose this property
My family has a long and happy association with Dunrobin Estate and as children we were all born and grew up in Sutherland. It is a beautiful area of Scotland, wild and remote with clean air and stunning mountain/coastal scenery. It is also extremely peaceful and unspoilt and one of the few places that I feel I can truly 'get away from it all'. I always return from a holiday there feeling refreshed and invigorated by having been so close to nature and so far removed from the pressures and demands of normal, hectic, everyday life.
What makes this property unique
Relax in a truly unique and very homely Cabin, with lovely views out into surrounding woodland and beyond to the sea and nearby hills. The Cabin is stand-alone and not overlooked by any other property. It has a pretty, semi-wild garden and secluded south facing patio on which to relax in nice weather. The large open fire in the living room is a great draw on cooler days and for evenings in front of the TV, reading a book or playing board games. Roe deer often stroll into our woodland and many sea birds and birds of prey can be spotted from the garden or through the large windows. There are numerous beautiful walks and (mountain) bike rides straight from the Cabin door over hill top or past dramatic waterfalls and down onto wide sandy beaches. And then there are the amazing golf courses..!
