Excellent Villa
The Villa was superbly appointed and had everything our family (there were 6 adults) could possibly wish for.It is in a lovely location- a short walk from the beach- but we only went there once because the pool area is so good. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and the showers are fantastic. We will definitely be visiting again. Can't wait!!
We really enjoyed our stay at the villa, the villa could do with a bit of modernising (but who's house couldn't). The kitchen has everything you need and more. The bedrooms are big and the A/C is a godsend in the bedrooms.
The pool area is amazing and many an hour was spent lounging around the pool. The pool is deep so if you have younger children you will need to keep an eye on them, the shallow end is about 4ft I would say and the deep end easily 7ft.
The local supermarket is 1k away and easy to get to and from although I would highly recommend hiring a car as taxi's are very expensive. The bus service is decent but last buses run at 23.00 (ish) which means you have to come back early. The local restaurant Triana is excellent and we walked along the beach to Capopina (25 min), where there are some other lovely restaurants and views. if the tide is low then its no problems but if its high tide there will be a little bit of paddling involved.
Jan was a great host, we had one issue with an AC unit which was fixed really quickly. So all in all I would highly recommend the villa for a relaxing break with family/friends.

Lovely villa but a little tired
La Mirada is located in Carib Playa in Marbesa. The villa is quite old and sprawling with many ways to go outside. She could do with a lick of paint inside and out and the electrics in the kitchen need attention. No point listing a Gaggia coffee machine if it doesn’t work because the only power socket in the kitchen is faulty and it has broken the machine. The bed pillows have seen better days as have the duvets. They really need replacing. The curtains could do with cleaning and re-hanging as most were not connected to the curtain pole properly. The kitchen is good. It has fairly new appliances and a very good dishwasher. To leave the villa, one must go through a pretty vigorous routine with shutters, gates and lengths of wood. I won’t go into detail but the owner needs to spend some money on replacing the patio door lock mechanisms in the lounge area. The outside area is lovely. The pool too, but be aware if you have small children as the shallow end is about 5 feet deep. As with most Mediterranean gardens at the time of year we visited, the plants are starting to shed and their close proximity to the pool, means you need to get the pool net out most mornings although Yan comes every Wednesday to tend the garden and clean the pool. I find netting the pool very relaxing anyway so it never bothers me. Andy’s beach is a little too far to walk during the heat of the day across the dunes and at night it is easier to get a taxi to the marina. We would visit again.

Response from VrboOwner on 15 Jan 2024
Greg has one point. During his stay there was a short circuit in one of the (6) power sockets. Repair took a few days which apparently caused some bad temper. The walk to the beach (600 m) along the street takes 8 min! - Greg describes the longer route along a path through the dunes. Why complain then? And what to think about his other comments if he ends with "would visit again"?
About the host
Hosted by Jan Reneman
We used to have a holiday home in Northern Spain, in Blanes (Costa Brava) for more than 15 years. We sold it a few years ago and started our search for a new house which would meet our most important criteria: along the Mediterranean, close to a nice beach, good seaview, excellent climate to escape from the Netherlands when the sky gets grey, near places of interest, good food and entertainment. We tried Tuscany, the Italian and French Riviera's without success until we found it here, in the Costa del Sol in Andalucia, the heart of Spain. We bought La Mirada in 2011, modernized and extended it so that it can accomodate our children with their families or friends, and of course ourselves from time to time. We find it a very pleasant house with lots of space, and always full of light.
Why they chose this property
location (near beach), seaviews, quiet residential area, climate (best of Europe!), lots of interesting places to visit, cultural events
What makes this property unique
completely modernized house with lots of space, indoors and outdoors, large pool, roof terrace with BBQ, close to Marbella centre, WiFi access, UK and European TV satellite reception
