We really enjoyed our stay, the property was very comfortable and clean. The location was great, close to everything. And the on-site parking was definitely a bonus! Thank you Matthew, Claire & Maddy, we hope to be back soon 😊
Had a fantastic weekend in the perfect locations the kids and I spent the weekend on the beach and had some great food with all local stuff .... can’t fault it many thanks will definitely be back
Vertical but comfortable lodging near the sea. Weather this December was rainy and windy. Still, we did get in some wonderful walks and sightseeing during breaks in the weather.
A lovely flat to stay in with sea views, onsite parking and opposite the pub. Just what holidays are all about. Very clean flat and a well equipped kitchen. We definitely book again of returning to the area.
Perfect location for either a short or long break, being metres from the beach.
Furnished to a very high standard and extremely comfortable with even a small view of the sea from the sofa! Excellent accommodation with space for 2 cars to park which was invaluable.
A beautiful village on the Jurassic Coast. The apartment was in the Centre of the old town very close to the beach. A great location to catch hiking trails to other towns along the coast and inland. This is a setting not to be missed. Our hosts were very responsive to any questions we may have had. The recently renovated place was nicely furnished with full amenities in the kitchen. Not sure why towels weren’t provided except possibly because it’s a seaside town and guests may take towels to the beach! Our hosts reminded us and we purchased towels before arrival. There are narrow stairs up to the apartment but that’s not unusual for older buildings. There were also stairs to the upper bedroom that may be too much for elderly folks with mobile problems. Otherwise, a very nice place to stay!

A Good Find
Really enjoyed our week in the pretty seaside village of Beer. Bosuns Rest is right in the village and a stones throw from the beach, it felt like a home from home with everything we needed for a holiday. The balcony off the top floor bedroom was a lovely place to sit for morning coffee and evening glass of wine watching the world go by. Lots of good eating places on the doorstep and a nice shop selling fresh fruit, veg and bread plus 3 good beach cafes. It was good to have own parking space.
The only issue some may have with this property is the top floor bedroom being in a converted loft. The one side of the room has a sloping ceiling to the floor so the usable space in the room is limited and you need to be careful not to bump your head. However the en-suite is fine and does not have a sloping ceiling. The parking space is tight with an estate car but we found reversing in was far easier and the road is one way and not busy - which helped.

The perfect property
Our stay at Bosun's Rest was perfect! The location is unbeatable in Beer and being able to park two cars is an amazing added extra. We spent our evenings taking in the sunset on the balcony and playing games in the sun. The property is very well kept and done to a high spec. I would recommend Bosun's Rest to anyone looking for a place to stay in Beer.

Lovely, spacious maisonette
We have been visiting Beer a couple of times a year since I was a nipper. A lovely place to have a relaxing few days away. This was our first time staying at Bosun’s Rest but hopefully it won’t be our last. What a simply wonderful place this is. Clean, spacious, brilliant location and parking as well! Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, ample sitting area and to top it all an amazing rooftop balcony. Sit out for breakfast, then later on before evening meal. The owners are extremely helpful right down to a map and full directions for the strenuous walk to the Anchor Inn. A highly recommended maisonette.

Great location and good places to eat within walking distance
This was a really good property for a short break. The open plan living area works well and the kitchen is well equipped, although there’s not much room for eating at the breakfast bar if there are more than 2 people ( there were 3 of us and we did manage). The beds were very comfortable and the apartment was cosy once it warmed up so overall a really positive experience! Great to have parking spaces too.

Superb accommodation, superb location!
We have all read blurb for holiday rentals that says the accommodation is great, right next to the beach etc.etc. and it never lives up to the hype. But in the case of Bosuns Rest the "blurb" is 100% accurate. This is by far the best place we have stayed in Devon. Exceptionally clean and very comfortable. As for the location, just fantastic. Right next to the pub if that is your thing. Beautiful walks to neighbouring towns. Friendly local people. Just wonderful. Highly recommended.

Fantastic!
We've been travelling down to Devon for many years now and staying a various hotels and B&Bs but Bosun's Rest was by far the best we have ever stayed in. The house is beautifully decorated, well equipped and in an idyllic spot. A stones throw from the beach and benefiting from private car parking.
I highly recommend Bosun's Rest and will certainly be looking to stay again for many years to come.

Perfect location
Bosun's Rest was even better than we'd hoped, the photographs and decription of the property were completely accurate. The owners have thought of everything, there is everything you could possibly need. we loved the attic room, with the balcony access, and the bed is so comfortable. A real home from home. The owners gave us very good directions and instructions for gaining entry to the property. The location is perfect, close to everything, beach, shops, pubs and restaurants. Have already reccommended it to a work colleague. Hope to stay again.

Why they chose this property
On a visit to Devon in 2011 we discovered the wonderful seaside village of Beer. Right in the centre and only 100 metres from the beach, we found a property for sale, which was in the early stages of a complete renovation. We could see the potential and decided to make an investment as a long term pension plan which we now let out for holidays as Bosun's Rest. The scenery over the bay is incredible - you can even spot the odd pod of dolphins from time to time. The village has a laid back atmosphere but always seems to have something going on due to its shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants. Whilst it is only an hour and a half from our house on a good run, it offers a massive contrast to our busy working lives.
What makes this property unique
Bosun's Rest has a fantastic location. Apart from being a minute from the beach, it is even closer to the village shops and pubs. Parking in this part of Beer can be difficult, but it has a double length drive, so you will not have a problem even if you travel in two cars. There is a king sized double bedded room with en suite, as well as a twin bedded room and separate shower room. All bed linen is provided. There is a modern fully equipped kitchen, and a stunning balcony giving views over the village centre. There is a lot to occupy you in and around Beer such as the Pecorama steam railway, the famous quarry caves, nearby donkey sanctuary and of course the beach.
