Beautifully converted and well-appointed gites in the Parc Natural in the Perigord Vert. Set in a hamlet with stunning views, this property accommodates 10 with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 private terraces, BBQs and the sole use of a swimming pool.

Les Vieilles Ecuries (the 'Old Stables') is a beautifully renovated former farmhouse with attached barn and with two adjoining gites: the Farriers Cottage (3 bedrooms, two bathrooms) and the Farriers Workshop (2 bedrooms, one bathroom). The cottages, each with their own terrace with BBQ, umbrella and garden furniture, are well furnished and equipped.

The Farriers Cottage has a large open plan ground floor living space with a 3x3m fitted kitchen and a 7x4m lounge/dining area and a tiled shower room. Upstairs are the three bedrooms and the large bathroom.

The Farriers Workshop on the ground floor also has a large open plan living space with a 4.20x2.20m fitted kitchen and a 6x4m lounge/dining, a double bedroom and and a bathroom. Upstairs there is the mezzanine leading to the 3.20x5m twin bedroom.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez nos hôtes Jan et Ningsih, charmants, disponibles et discrets.Les deux gîtes communiquant étaient parfaits pour notre groupe de 10 personnes dont 2 enfants en bas âge.Rien ne manquait à notre confort et à la possibilité de cuisiner. La piscine, parfaitement sécurisée a été appréciée de tous. Le calme, la nature environnante permet des balades à pied accessibles au départ du gîte. Par ailleurs, nous avons sillonné la région qui offre des points d'intérêt touristique :Rochechouart, Nontron, Brantôme, Saint Jean de Côle... et autres randonnées à proximité : le plan d'eau de Miallet..., le saut du Chalard.. entre autres.Excellente boulangerie à Saint Saud  ainsi que l'épicerie participative l'HO ! Très bonnes boucheries à Miallet et au Carrefour Contact de La Coquille.Nous recommandons vivement cette location en espérant y retourner !Merci à nos hôtes pour ces vacances très réussies.

Excellent séjour chez Yann et sa famille avec qui le contact et les échanges furent très cordiaux. La maison est tes bien équipée ( machines, douches, matériel de cuisine) et les deux gîtes réunis donnent un sentiment d’espace pour circuler et se protéger de la chaleur en cas de canicule. Le lieu est silencieux et tranquille dans un paysage très vert de forêt et de prairie. La piscine donne une très belle vue sur l’horizon et est très agréable en cas de chaleur élevée. Nous recommandons +++

Heavenly bliss

Originally booked for eight of us, only six of us could make the trip. And wow - so, so much space. Even if we had been 10, the amount of space across two inter-connected cottages is amazing. I cannot think of even a single, minor quibble. A great pool, or a short drive to the local large lake with a beach, and the small village of Saint Saud a few minutes away. Remote, but still within easy distance of Brantome - the perfect location. Would highly recommend - thanks to Jan for making this wonderful property available.

Awesome week!

We stayed there for a week, we were 4 adults and 4 kids. The place is very nice, we enjoyed a lot the pool especially the kids ! It was very relaxing. A bunch of things to do and see around. The owners are very kind. We loved the experience.

Très belle surprise

Nous sommes venus à 2 familles (6 enfants) et chacun a pu profiter les adultes comme les enfants. Le gîte est spacieux est très agréable, peut être manque-t-il un peu d'ustensiles de cuisines (fouets, cuillères en bois) et quelques grands plats pour les familles nombreuses. Le terrain est magnifique et completement dégagé, les enfants peuvent jouer en toute liberté. Jan et sa femme sont adorables et font tout pour qu'on se sente bien et que l'on passe de formidables vacances. Nous reviendrons. Merci à tous les 2. Corinne et Yaël

Les propriétaires sont accueillants et très sympathique. Les gîtes sont propres et bien entretenus. A great peaceful rural stay

Our family rented both houses together ( they can interconnect), a party of 8 adults and 6 children. We loved the area, great for walks /cycling, it is very rural and picturesque, so don't expect any local amenities. Though there are two villages about 10 minutes or so by car, These provide most needs, - Tabac, small shop etc. The two bed cottage is very bright and well furnished, It has the larger living area. The 3 bed is well furnished as well with a big dining table . It has two big bathroom / shower rooms with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Owners Jan and his wife were helpful and friendly though discreet. Neighbours are nearby but do not spoil your peace. Nice pool with great views.

Why they chose this property

We love the this part of the Dordogne because of its beautiful countryside. The Perigord-Limousin natural park with forests, fields, rivers and many lakes and ponds create a wonderful setting. Whilst having easy access to all the wonderful attractions of the Dordogne, it is away from the tourist crowd. Limoges airport, which has daily low-cost flight from/to UK, is only 45 minutes away. Because of its rural setting it is recommended to have a car; it is about seven hours by road from Calais.

What makes this property unique

The property is set at edge of the hamlet on a 3.5 acre garden, with lovely uninterrupted views of the green rolling landscape and valley.
Two villages nearby offer basic amenities: baker, butcher, mini market, pharmacy, bar and restaurants. The property has a fenced 10x5 m pool. We provide pool towels and umbrellas so you can travel light and make the most of the pool. For those who enjoy a more active holiday there are ample opportunities for walking and hiking, cycling, horse riding, tennis, fishing or canoeing in the area.

Brantome, known as the Venice of the Dordogne, is only 30 km away and slightly further afield is the beautiful medieval-renaissance city of Perigueux.
