About this property

Amazing sea views Set in 7 acres of fields Dog friendly On the welsh coast path.

Llwyn Ffynnon Cottage is a stunning 19th century cottage, packed with original features – inglenook fireplace with log burner, beamed ceilings, and with all the modern facilities you could ever want. Drive into the property, over the bridge and into the wooded dell with ancient cascading streams. There is ample flat car parking in front of you. Walk down to the cottage, sit out on the terrace and be amazed at the views over the beaches and harbours of Nefyn and Porth Dinllaen – look out for the Ty Coch pub on the beach, and sometimes if you have the luck of the Irish, the Wicklow Hills – you won’t believe how close they appear. Walk down the footpath from the cottage along the side of the stream down to the beach – no more than 15 minutes, and then you are on the miles of golden beaches, all edged by the Rival Mountains. Walk directly out of the driveway onto the Coastal Path – the Pilgrims Way. North towards the Rivals, and you could be in Switzerland, or South towards Bardsey, and the Island of Saints.
There are three Blue Flag beaches on the Llyn; Aberdaron, Abersoch and Pwllehli. Not to mention beautiful Nefyn beach and the bay of Porthdinllaen.
If you are bringing your four legged friend, Nefyn beach is mostly dog friendly and we have 7 acres of fields for running around in. We keep the grounds around the cottage as natural as possible and are rewarded with wonderful wildlife….. foxes, badgers, buzzards…… and an abundance of wild flowers.
All the rooms in the cottage have a sea view. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the shower room is on the ground floor. Please note that apart from the stairs there are also a couple of internal steps on the ground floor.
As we are on the side of the mountain the area outside the cottage, apart from the immediate garden and parking area, is not flat and there are a number of steps to access the front and back doors. It may not be suitable for the infirm, although we have had a 91 year old staying who had no problems at all and our own octogenarian parents manage perfectly well!
Two well behaved dogs are very welcome as we have two of our own and our fields are well fenced, although we cannot guarantee that they are fully dog proof and you should be aware that there is livestock in the surrounding fields.
The mountain lane to the cottage is single track and is only accessible to cars and 4x4's. There are only five other cottages at the top of the lane so traffic is very light!
We have a number of outdoor games; Jenga, badminton, Boules and there is equipment for the beach, like buckets and spades, windbreaks and bbq bucket.
During your stay you may meet Terry, who looks after the grounds for us. It's not always possible to cut the grass and strim during change over days but he's very nice and friendly, and wouldn't say no to a cup of coffee!
Please be aware that there is a public footpath from the lane at the top, past the cottage and down the field, although it's not signposted and is therefore rarely used, except by locals.
This is not just a holiday let, it is our home from home, we spend as much time here as we can and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

About the host

Hosted by Chris Woodhead

Host profile image
We are Chris and Jen Woodhead and although we live in Derbyshire we spend as much time as we can on the beautiful Llyn.
Chris spent many happy holidays as a child on Nefyn beach which is why we purchased this lovely property and our six children have been lucky enough to have the same experience.
We love it here so much that in 2012 we got married at Nant Gwrtheyrn, a hidden little piece of Switzerland, well worth a visit!

Why they chose this property

The cottage had been on the market for nearly two years and seemed as if it had been waiting especially for us. It was in need of some TLC but we fell in love with it as soon as we came through the gate to the dell and the beautiful stream, the sea view was the icing on the cake!

What makes this property unique

The seclusion of the property is wonderful, with just the babbling of the ancient stream, sound of the waterfall and bird song for company. There are an abundance of wild flowers on the banks of the stream and in our surrounding fields, from snowdrops, daffodils, violets and primroses in early spring, bluebells in May and campions and foxgloves in summer.
Sitting on the terrace above the sea on the mountainside, you can see Anglesey and the lighthouse at South Stack to the right and the double bays of Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn to the left! It's easy to while away the hours sat here, whether we are watching a weather front coming in, an amazing sunset, the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland or sailing boats in the bay.
The Welsh Coastal Path runs right past our gate and you can be up the mountain or on the beach before you know it. For us, there is no better place!
