Right when we stepped in the cabin I was blown away. What a wonderful spot, close to everything you could need. It's a very nice and upkept cabin, and we'll almost certainly be coming back

What a great place! We were 2 couples and it worked well for us. Karen and Merv were fantastic. We discovered that The propane bottle on the grill was empty when we arrived, but Merv was there within 5 minutes with a new full one. Recommend to anyone contemplating a stay in Parksville.

I booked this for my kids & their children (9yrs & 7yrs). This would be their 3rd visit in 4 yrs & once again everything was perfect! The cottage was spotless when they arrived. Check-in & check out, so easy. And of course, the location is ideal. A short drive to so many attractions for the kids, to say nothing of beach access.Highly recommended!!

Large, comfortable cabin that was perfect for two teens and one adult. It’s a perfect place to relax after a day of excursions and there are nice walks directly from the unit.A quick walk or drive to Rathtrevor beach.

Hummingbird Cottage is just what we'd hoped for - a quiet, well-loved home with so many amenities. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of blankets and pillows. The front porch is cozy and comfortable. And there are so many small, thoughtful details - like a hose to wash off your feet, a deck with a grill (which we didn't use), games, maps, tourist guides, a hot tub, heated floors; I could go on. The very best part is that it is about a 10-minute walk to Rathtrevor Beach, which is absolutely amazing. We loved everything about our stay at Hummingbird Cottage!

So, I had made a reservation at a different locate for these dates and they cancelled last minute.It was such incredibly good fortune that I came across the Hummingbird Cottage & it was available! Getting to stay at the Hummingbird Cottage was a treat.This cottage is adorable and perfectly located - access within the development to an indoor pool & hottub, next door to a great mini-golf course, walking distance to Rathtrevor Beach Park & a quick zip into Parksville for whatever you may need. Everything was 5 for me:- Description of property- Value- Communication- Ease of check in/outEverything was perfect. I plan to be back again! Thank you so much.

The house was extremely comfortable and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked, and I was able to cook for myself.All the appliances worked.The bed was very comfortable. We had a very relaxing stay at the cottage and really enjoyed the deck and overall privacy. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, glasses, cutlery and pots and pans. It was a little unexpected that no shampoo or shower gel was provided, but there are plenty of stores within easy driving distance to buy anything you need. The host declined my request to charge an EV, but provided a list of charging stations nearby. The check in and communication was excellent. The resort has a wonderful indoor swimming pool a short walk away from the cottage and we took advantage of that. The beach is within walking distance or a 5min drive away. The mini golf place next door was a lot of fun for our family. The area is very quiet and near a forest, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, it’s great. For any nightlife or restaurants you’ll need to drive to Nanaimo (30 min) or Parksville’s city centre ( probably 15 min?).

We have lived on Vancouver Island for the past fifteen years.
We were drawn to the Island by the stunning beauty, moderate climate and abundance of activities offered year round.
Time spent with family, including our two dogs is what matters the most to us and we enjoy those times especially when we are able to spend them having picnics at any one of the numerous beaches and parks in the area, kayaking or taking in one of the many festivities like beach days and the world class sandcastle competition.
We love to watch the sunset at Qualicum Beach or the Parksville Community Park beach and in the spring and summer viewing cruise ships headed to Alaska are an added bonus to the already spectacular sights of ocean and mountains and wildlife.

Why they chose this property

As we already have one cottage at the resort and enjoy it immensely, it only made sense to purchase a second cottage so that visitors could come to Vancouver Island year round and have the opportunity to experience the beauty of Vancouver Island.

What makes this property unique

Hummingbird Cottage is in a unique location in that it offers close proximity to an abundance of outdoor activities such as beach combing, whale watching, fishing, golfing and hiking to name a few as well as walking distance to restaurants, lounges and spas and very short driving distances to city amenities such as stores, banks. ice skating rinks and theatres.
