Ideal retreat for 2 people. Woodpeckers has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard with underfloor heating throughout and a secluded patio garden. The covered private entrance is easily accessed from the parking area and leads into spacious but cosy accommodation. Situated in a quiet area only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Town and 15 minutes to the picturesque estuary. Kingsbridge has many interesting independent shops and excellent restaurants and pubs. It is ideally positioned to explore the South Hams, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. There are many lovely sandy beaches nearby and the coastal walks are spectacular. There is a very good bus service from the quayside which is ideal for walkers and those who wish to let the bus “take the strain”. If you are into sports, there are good local golf courses nearby, paddle boarding on the estuary and plenty of places to fish. There is a leisure centre in the town and local tennis courts.

10/10 Lovely self catered apartment

The owners have done an exceptional job at fitting out the apartment to the highest standard. Well equipped and furnished with everything you need. It was like home away from home. The apartment has its own private access and easy parking for your car. It is in easy walking distance to the town centre. Very quiet location, with great views over the town. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this property! Cannot fault! It's a 10/10 !!

Cosy accommodation

Really well cared for property, cosy and v clean. Good appliances modern facilities and in warmer weather a little patio and table to use. Very private and Liz the owner lovely and helpful . Beautiful countryside at the doorstep.

The apartment was spotlessly clean with a beautiful, relaxing decor. The host provided great communication after booking and before arrival and was so friendly during our stay. There was information in the apartment including leaflets and brochures with ideas for days out and places to visit in the local area. Kingsbridge is ideally located to explore Salcombe, Burgh Island, Dartmouth and Totnes. Highly recommended for both the apartment and the location.

Wonderful Woodpeckers

When looking at the Vrbo website we always look at the photos and there were plenty of appropriate photos of the flat and it lived up to our expectations. Mick and Liz were very helpful, quick to answer any email queries and gave us good information before our arrival. They were friendly and checked that everything was ok for us, recommending the route to walk into town and suggesting a garden centre cafe with great cheese scones with soup for a lunch out. Kingsbridge is a lovely town and it's also central for visiting other places. Thoroughly recommend Woodpeckers for a stay.

Great apartment for two

Mick and Liz were excellent hosts. The accommodation was well-equipped and very clean. They provided information in advance about eating out. Perfect location for a couple.

We are Liz and Mick and moved from Surrey to Kingsbridge in 2003. The area was always special to us and when we decided to retire, it was the obvious choice. We purchased a lovely Georgian house in the town, and ran a successful B & B business for a number of years. Both our children and families followed us down to the area and we now spend time with them and our 4 grandchildren when we can. When not playing golf at Bigbury Golf Club we enjoy our lovely, peaceful, garden and the spectacular views over Kingsbridge.

Why they chose this property

Having spent 8 years running the B&B we thought a move to a modern Eco property would be more appropriate to our advancing years. So in 2010 we purchased 10 Fosse Road, demolished the existing bungalow and embarked on building "Woodpeckers". Were we mad at our age? Yes, is probably the right answer! However, now the building is finished we can appreciate all the benefits of modern technology. We always wanted to stay in Kingsbridge and this property is in a quiet area has wonderful views and is in close proximity to the town,shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

Woodpeckers is ideally located, in Kingsbridge, for exploring the whole of the South Hams, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a good bus service from the Quayside and The Rivermaid offers boat trips to Salcombe. There are many lovely beaches nearby and the nearest one is only a ten minute drive from Kingsbridge. There are also good golf courses in the area and tennis courts at the Recreation Ground.
We have tried to cater for all your needs and provide all that is necessary for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and we offer free WIFI, Digital TV and SKY TV with Sports.

We have ample off road parking space and the accommodation offers external patio areas to enjoy alfresco dining. All the amenities of Kingsbridge are within walking distance.
