Villa Fumarola. Large Pool + Garden. Safe for Kids. Great Location.
Villa Fumarola is a wonderful place all year round which offers lots of things to do for the whole family. The pool is open from mid-April through October. The central garden and pool area are shared with the other house on the plot (a traditional Trullo which sleeps 4 people). Garden, pool and pool area (with large shaded dining area) are very generously sized, in order to offer enough space to each party, in case both houses are occupied. The pool is 10 x 10 meters with ample surrounding area. Each of the two houses has its own outside dining area and barbecue. We are confident we can recommend this property to anyone, including families with small children (our own kids grew up here). The property is a tranquil, safe and child-friendly environment, the pool is protected by a fence. The garden has a great variety of fruit and olive trees, some hundreds of years old. There are many attractions in the area: Lots of little towns with wonderful historical centers, Unesco heritage sites like Alberobello (just 15 minutes by car) and Matera, Lecce with its amazing baroque, lots of beaches on both coasts, countless typical restaurants for all budgets...Upon arrival you will find your complimentary Welcome Kit with useful information about the area, such as restaurants, places to see, things to do etc. We have spent so much time exploring this enchanting area and love sharing our findings and insight with our guests. It is our absolute priority to make out guests' vacation here a truly special one. The property is self-catering and accepting our guests' privacy is paramount. But in case you would like our help with anything at all, we will be more than happy to assist. Whether it's tips for restaurants, horseback riding for all levels, discovering the countryside by bike, picking your favorite beach out of hundreds of miles of coastline, exploring the before mentioned amazing towns and villages, learning all about local wines, olive oil and other local could go on and on...Fact is you are spoilt for choice here and one vacation won't be enough to take it all in, so we will be delighted to help you plan your bespoke ideal vacation and make it a truly special one. This is how we intend our role as hosts. Looking forward to welcoming you!
The Villa, a recent build, has been designed to interpret the original style of the local architecture without trying to look like an ancient building. This is expressed in the small windows towards the front and the inclined outer walls. It is very spacious and light. All bedrooms have their own access to the garden. Equipped with aircondition and underfloor-heating.
Our commitment: Host responsibly in order to promote a more sustainable way of travelling. 1) Save energy - Solar panels on the villa‘s roof supply some of the energy we use for warm water, heating, air conditioning, pool etc. - Help us save energy by using a few simple tricks without, of course, compromising on comfort. Just follow our easy instructions you will find inside the houses. 2) Fight waste - Separate household waste to help recycle as much as possible. Just follow our simple tips which you will find upon arrival. - Reusable shopping bags provided. Refillable bottles for shampoo, shower gel and hand soap. Most of our detergents are organic and sourced from a tap refill store in Martina Franca. Our tap water is of good drinking quality (regularly tested). So no need to buy plastic bottles. 3) Shop local products - Shopping guide for Zero-KM-Food - List of local markets for fresh farming produce

We stayed here with our two children (13 and 10) while friends rented the neighbouring Trullo with their own two kids. We were looking for somewhere which gave both families our own space but also meant we could all spend time together - and this couldn’t have been more perfect. Both properties were beautiful, the larger ‘Casa’ was so spacious and although it’s more modern than the Trullo it felt full of character and charm. Spacious bedrooms and two beautiful bathrooms. The kids particularly liked the indoor/outdoor lounge area. The pool was beautiful and spacious with a fantastic al fresco dining area and the gardens were just lovely. The location was perfect for us too, less than 10 minutes drive into either Locorotondo or Martina Franca, both fantastic places for a daytime or evening wander. We loved our week here and hope to one day be back!
Avons passé une excellente semaine dans une maison spacieuse et très agréable à vivre. La localisation est idéale pour visiter la région tout en étant au calme. La grande piscine est sécurisée et son abord est très agréable (nombreux transats). Le lieu est magnifique.
I cannot fault this wonderful house, in this wonderful part of Italy. We had particularly wanted to stay near Martina Franca, where we had been before and loved, and this house turned out to be the perfect property in an ideal location for not only Martina F, but also the various other places nearby we wanted to visit.
The house is beautifully designed, with comfy beds, air con, lovely eating areas, wonderful bathrooms and a splendid pool. There is even an orchard opposite the house. When something went wrong in the house, the very friendly owners were immediately on hand to help and put it right, and it was such a bonus for us that the house comes with a stack of great toys for young kids. Highly recommended.
We absolutely loved our stay - Ina is such a wonderful host and the villa is simply perfect. It is beautifully designed and has great amenities for kids making it the ideal family villa.

Wonderful family holiday
Thank you so much Ina and Sandro for a perfect week away as a family of four. With two small children we were looking for a family friendly villa and this ticked all the boxes and more. Ina made sure we had everything we needed from the get go (cots, highchair, baby bath, potty etc etc) and the villa had so many great toys for the kids to keep them more than entertained throughout the week! The pool space and garden is fantastic and we felt an extra level of security with the pool being fenced off and the boys loved the swings and slide. The villa itself was perfect, very well furnished and lovely and clean. We have already recommended it to friends (who have since booked for next month!) and we would love to come back and stay again. Ina was also wonderful in recommending restaurants and organising a lovely babysitter (Antonella) for us one evening. Thanks so much, we loved every minute! The Ferber Family

We had a lovely time in the villa. 2 adults 2 kids all very happy!
The villa is very spacious, beautifully designed and clean. Ina and Sandro couldn’t have been more helpful - making dinner reservations, organising a pasta making class for all of us, arranging a doctors appointment with an English speaking doctor when our son became ill. Lots of space, good sized pool and in beautiful countryside. We loved Locorotondo at night - only 15 mins drive.

Truly a memorable experience in Puglia
We loved our stay at the villa. Ina and Sandro welcomed us and made us feel at home. They recommended places to eat and visit in Puglia. The villa was clean and bright and very spacious and private. Since the trulli next door was not rented, we and our travelling companions had the villa to ourselves. Everything was there for us to cook our own meals. My husband loved the swimming pool. Only negative, was our pillows could have been more comfortable. We would recommend it to our friends and stay there again. Thanks Ina and Sandro you have a lovely place.

Thank you for this wonderful review. I will check regarding the pillows. It is very useful to know when there is something that needs improvement. And comfortable bedding is definitely a crucial part of a relaxing vacation.

Alles vorhanden was man im Urlaub benötigt.

Trullo Fumarola, Ina and Sandro are fabulous
The villa and pool are both spotlessly clean and very well appointed.
As the pool area is fenced off, it felt very safe for my 2 year old to wander around.
There are many indoor and outdoor toys for young children, which was a welcome surprise. They kept my son entertained for hours.
The villa has a large open plan feel to it and a lovely outdoor eating area.
Ina and Sandro are great and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The area itself has a few good local restaurants too.
I would thoroughly recommend staying in the villa or at their beautiful Trullo next door.

Pleasant, spacious house in quiet spot
The house was well appointed. Kitchen small and not so well equipped.
The sitting space would have been better with comfortable low armchairs.
The house is full of light from big windows which is nice. Nice big garden, spot is very quiet.
The bedlinnen is beautiful. We would rather have liked a house on a hill
looking down onto the Valle d'Itria, but here it is quite flat.
Ina was very kind and helped us whenever this was necessary.

Thank you very much for this review.
The kitchen is actually fully equipped with large fridge, freezer, oven, stove, dishwasher and microwave, as well as toaster and kettle. We have just enlarged it to provide extra surface.
The house, apart from the dining/kitchen area, has a large lounge giving onto the garden with extra spacious sofa beds.

Luxury villa and pool
We spent a thoroughly enjoyable week here. The villa was stunning and beautifully appointed. The booking process and instructions on how to get there were amazingly detailed and we managed to find the property late at night without any problems. There was a welcoming gift of local biscuits and wine when we arrived and the owners - Sandro and Ina - were on hand to help with any problems and to provide local information. Sadly it was a little too cold in October to use the pool but everything else was perfect. We thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay.

Gloriously spacious villa
The villa is all the photos suggest and more. They don't do justice to how spacious it is. It combines elegance with comfort, with nice bonuses like figs on the trees and (for our sons' benefit) Sky on TV. The pool is big though a little chilly in late September, bracing but irresistible. The location is handy for visiting a number of beautiful towns, our favourite was Locorotondo, and easy enough to get off to the sea. Though you could be tempted just to stay there. We loved the place.
The hosts were very helpful. Welcoming with well thought out directions to get there and a useful booklet of local information.
No ifs or buts, this place was excellent.

Fantastic hosts
We stayed in the villa with our two year old and six month old and Ina could not have been more helpful, setting up the cots and high chairs and even leaving out some toys for our children. She was unceasingly helpful throughout our stay, from providing us with weather forecasts and suggestions for rainy day activities to printing our boarding passes for our return flights. Our daughter loved picking fruit from the trees in the garden for breakfast. Thank you both for being truly fantastic hosts.
The villa is great, clean and smart and has everything we needed. The towns nearby are lovely, Martina France our favourite for lovely buildings, restaurants and gelato!
We couldn't fault our holiday, if only the weather had been a bit better!

Holiday in fabulous villa in Puglia
We arrived at the villa and were warmly welcomed by our hosts who had a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge with cheese and olives. The villa exceeded our expectations. Extremely spacious, comfortably furnished and super grounds with olive trees, an orchard and a lovely swimming pool. We lived off the land on Pomegranates, Figs and walnuts which were all in season. Very nice outdoor area for barbecues. The weather could have been better. We expected it to be warmer and drier, however it was pleasant. Martina Franca, a lovely old town was just 10 minutes away. There were many interesting towns to visit, especially Lecce further south. We visited the Adriatic and Ionian coasts. The seafood was superb and very reasonably priced. Our hosts were very helpful in recommending good restaurants and made several bookings for us. The villa was a peaceful haven to get back to. We enjoyed a very relaxing week in Puglia and would like to return some day.

Perfect house for a family holiday
A lovely property, equipped with all mod cons in an idyllic location. The pool is safe for toddlers with its fence around it and the playground entertained our 2 year old for hours. The owners were so friendly and helpful but never obtrusive. Some lovely towns nearby and not too far to the beach by car. We stayed in both houses at this site and both are great, although the house is much bigger (the Trullo is quite big itself though and has plenty of space for 4 people). Perfect!

Very good
The house is very well decorated, clean, well maintainted and well thought of. The owners are really concerned that you have a good stay, and in case of any problem, they look for a solution. The pool is great, and so are the old olive trees in the spacious garden.

Beautiful villa and pool
We stayed at Villa Fumerola for almost a week in July and thought that it was superb value for this stunning villa. The villa is wonderfully maintained and decorated and all the bedrooms are very large, especially the en-suite bathroom which is enormous! The pool is also huge and in great condition, with plenty of sunbeds. It is also right near the house even though it sounds further away in the description.
The village, Martina Franca, is lovely with plenty of restuarants and a very pretty centre. In general, the villa is well located for exploring that part of Puglia.
The owner Alex (Alessandro) was staying in the trullo and he was so welcoming and helpful. There was a delicious bowl of fruit upon arrival, as well as the essentials such as tea, coffee and sugar.
Highly recommended!!

Exceptional Villa
With trulli being the very common type accommodation in the Martina Franca area it was hard to find a spacious place that would give privacy for two couples but shared living quarters. We were very lucky to find this villa which ticks all the boxes: well-designed and built but with a traditional feel; excellent facilities, internet and tasteful furnishings and all very clean. The area is quiet and picturesque, in a rural area but close to many pretty towns. Our hosts Ina and Sandro were welcoming and responsive to our needs before and during our stay - they were very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and tours. The information packs provided by Ina were thorough and a great source of assistance. We recommend that you plan your arrival carefully as the villa is located in a maze of roads that are not well signposted - look at the villa on Google street so you can recognise it when you arrive. (The GPS coordinates supplied did not work for us initially for us but helped us find our way home on subsequent occasions). Take Ina's recommendations on restaurants but make sure you eat at least one meal at the nearby Masseria Sant' Elia which is superb. We enthusiastically recommend the Fumarola villa which really is an exceptional place.

Thanks for this great review, Maggie. It has been a true pleasure having you as our guests. We have taken on board your comments regarding your difficulty of finding us. The directions I'm sending guests before they arrive have been amended now to give more detail as, oh yes, there are no streetsigns and the GPS coordinates work well for some sat nav systems, but less so for others.
About the host
Hosted by Ina Fumarola
My husband, Alessandro, and I have been living in this wonderful area for several years now. Alessandro was born and raised in Martina Franca while I'm originally from Munich (Germany). The Trullo and land have been in Alessandro's family for seven generations (it was build by an ancestor). We have restored it very carefully, focusing on keeping its original features, such as the exposed stone arches and the century-old limestone on the floor. At the same time, we have built a new house on the land which we wanted to blend in with the local architecture without trying to look ancient. We have spent a lot of time exploring this enchanting region and love to share our findings and experience with people who come and visit us.
Why they chose this property
We truly go that extra mile to make your vacation special. Our guests love the property's location, because it's tranquil yet quite central and within easy reach of beautiful little towns, coastline and lots of activities. And we know how important details are: Toys and equipment for babies and children, a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom essentials or our welcome brochure with lots of local insight into the area are just a few examples. As well as, of course, our continuous availability to assist you while you are on holiday.
What makes this property unique
Fenced Pool. Great Location. Hosts' continuous availability to assist you (in case you want us to). Bespoke activities.
