Or wind down with nature at our two state parks, sure to provide a memorable experience with hiking, fishing, and water activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking, and search for a Venus Flytrap which is native to NC only. Explore the treasures of Carolina Beach, ranked one of the top 10 boardwalks in the country by Food & Wine magazine. One of the last remaining beach boardwalks on the East Coast, it includes a variety of restaurants, an arcade, shops, ice cream, Famous Britts Donuts, bars, and more! During the summer months, the Boardwalk is bustling with the sound of music, carnival rides, bingo, family nights, and events like the weekly fireworks and concert series. The Neighborhood:
Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, live‑oak‑lined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s two state‑managed coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.
After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside fun—local restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Britt’s Donuts. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every traveler—adventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.
Getting Around:
Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike – they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.

The location of the property was excellent. However the unit was filthy!! The bathroom rugs were full of dirt. The sofa was so dirty that I had to keep it covered. There were juice boxes inder the bed. It would take very little investment to make this unit unbelievable.Sent communication, by text, as directed and never got an response. So we were unable to enjoy the TV in the bedroom.

Location is why you choose this place
The best part of our stay was proximity to the beach and pool. The condo feels a bit outdated and we immediately saw palmetto bugs in the kitchen as soon as we checked in. I know this is considered normal but it was still a surprise to see then in the kitchen counters. Speaking of the kitchen, it is way too tiny for even 2 people to be in and there are very few supplies. Tons of empty cabinets and drawers - dont expect leftover salt or spices or olive oil. It is bare bones - plates and bowls and coffee cups and a couple pans is pretty much it. The sofa bed was totally uncomfortable and didn't feel safe for our 3 year old because of all the exposed metal. The king bed was fine but not super comfy. Pillows were useless. The "towels" are thin and small so I'd recommend bringing your own bath and beach towels. Electrical is very old and lots of light fixtures are connected to random things in the kitchen. Overall a very mediocre condo, but if you want to be on the beach, it could be worth it to you.
Overall our stay was nice. The best part about the condo was the view from the balcony and proximity to the beach. Carolina Beach is wonderful!
The property management company did a great job with answering all questions, check-in, etc. They were very friendly and responsive.
The condo is dated and could definitely use updates especially in the bathroom. Bathroom just feels dirty. Kitchen is small but workable. The electric stovetop was impossible to clean and pans were stained on the bottom, which most likely contributed to the issue. Countertop is also coming apart on the side. We kept getting snagged by it. The bed was a bit firm but comfortable overall. AC is quite loud. It woke me up throughout the night. The balcony is nice but don’t expect to use it when it rains. Many others in the complex added metal to the bottom of the balcony above their units to allow for balcony time during wet weather. I was jealous of our neighbors as they enjoyed dinner on the balcony while we were stuck inside during rain.
The view, proximity to the beach, and ease we had with checkin and the property management company is 5 stars but the overall condition of the condo is a 3 for me. Some updates from the owners would go a long way.

Expected more for the price
Great view ... but.... My visit started without air condition and continued for two days making it difficult to sleep. Cleaning left a lot to be desired. My feet were black after walking on the floor and deck. Wore my flip flops the entire visit. Rug in living room was a tripping hazard. Kitchen utensils left a lot to be desired. For what this place charges you would expect more than one roll of cheap paper towels and toilet paper. No laundry detergent. Again, for the price I expected more.

Beautiful view, very clean, and professional.
We loved this little condo! Very clean! It had everything we needed. There was a problem with the AC and they send a man to fix the problem fifteen minutes after I called. I was very impressed. We will visit again!
