About this property
Millpool Lodge peaceful haven with 3 acre stunning gardens waterfalls and hottub
Millpool Lodge is nestled in a wooded sheltered valley with 3.5 acres of the most stunning and diverse country gardens. The Lodge is annexe to the Grange it has its own private front and rear entrance and outside seating . A lounge with 50 inch satellite tv, L shaped settee coffee and dining table and chairs. One bedroom with double bed, and second bedroom with bunk beds suitable for children and teenagers.. A well stocked kitchen with cooker, fridge, micro wave and hob. Another small rear lobby with private entrance and washing machine. A bathroom with shower and toilet. Outside there is a seated area for eating and bbq. If you wish to use the Hot Tub this can be pre-booked but paid for on arrival. Price depends upon the length of stay but is approximately £10 a night and is an optional extra.
Outside the Lodge you can access the garden by several walkways and a stone staircase leads down to the fountain and the stream beyond with picnic areas and delightful wooden bridges. The crystal clear stream with bridges and two waterfalls meanders through the garden and on to the orchard and wide open lakeside space. The lake is surrounded by decking and seating for picnics or just for sitting and enjoying the peace and quiet of the lakeside views. Up from the lake there is a pine forest with space for picnics and running and play area for youngsters. And of course plenty of bunny warrens and logs to jump. For the younger children there is a Miss Tiggy Winkles Wooden play house down by the bridge. Ideally positioned so mum and dad can watch play from the sunny terrace area. Below the forest is a meadow and orchard and lake. There is so much to look at, rabbits in the woods, squirrels in the trees, chaffinch and goldfinch everywhere, and even a visiting heron and wild duck to the stream and lake. You will see so many beautiful plants and shrubs for which Cornwall is so famous. Camelias, Rhododendron, Palms, Ferns and many other sub tropical plants. The lake attracts every kind of bird and is a perfect spot to sit and relax. To the left of the house is a hot tub and barbeque area. Fully lit with decking and chairs a great area for evening socialising. You simply will not want to leave this wonderful place Besides the house is a well maintained footpath that leads to Cardinham and Deviock woods, ideal for country walks and biking. There are many footpaths leading from the hamlet up to Cardinham moor. We are equal distance ( approx 13 miles) from the north coast Polzeath and Rock (great surfing beaches) and Fowey, Par and Looe, where the south facing beaches benefit from sun and sheltered boating havens. All very picturesque and unspoilt. Our favourite is the little Bodenick ferry that takes you across from Fowey to the Looe heritage coast. We are also very close to the Eden Project, Lanhydrock House and Gardens, Bodmin Jail and Wenford Steam Railway and centrally positioned to visit our beautiful county. The proximity to the A30 enabling quick and easy access to all of Cornwall and to the shops in Bodmin.

Thank you Jenny, we had a lovely stay at Millpool Lodge, an idyllic setting, very accommodating hosts - even supplied lovely home made scones & Cornish clotted cream on arrival. All amenities you could wish for!! We would definitely stay again.

It was a great pleasure hosting you at Millpool thank you so much for your kind review.
Myself and my 2 teenage daughters had a great stay at Millpool lodge. It was a great location to explore the north and south coast of Cornwall. The hosts were really friendly and chilled, the hot tub was great! Thanks guys x
The lodge is exactly as described and the grounds are amazing. The hot tub was enjoyed on many evenings. The host Jenny was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful week with great weather.
Beautiful place and lovely host, the hot tub could have done with an enclosure of some sort, we chose this place as it had a hot tub but were unable to use it due to bad weather,
Increadibly peaceful, situated within beautiful grounds. It was ideal for my wife, dog and myself. Located in central Cornwall, which gave easy access to both the north and south coasts.

Lovely to have met you both. Enjoy your holiday with your girls. All the best Jenny
Great cottage in beautiful surroundings. Very accommodating host and very helpful. Not too far from Eden Project so ideal for going to the Eden Sessions concerts. Also very close for Lanhydrock parkrun. Excellent. Thank you.
Set in a beautiful Cornish village not from Bodmin with the most amazing grounds you've ever seen. The lodge was very clean and warm. Hosts were lovely and even left us a homemade cream tea which was delightful.
Loved the quiet area and getting to experience a dark sky area was so beautiful. Even during the rain it was such a lovely place to be.
Lovely property, beautiful gardens and walks on your doorstep. Hot tub was a nice touch and so nice of an evening after activity days. Highly recommended. The surrounding countryside, paths and climb up to the Tor had such beautiful views. Thanks for all the advice and info too Jenny. Highly recommended.
This home is everything and more! Inside is exactly what you need and then there’s the outside….WOW!! It is truly like walking through a fairytale. The garden and grounds are just dreamy!! Thank you Jenny for sharing your gorgeous home.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Millpool
What a lovely, magical place! The house is cozy and the space utilized well, but the real appeal is the grounds. Sitting at the side of the creek with my morning coffee was just too good to be true. The location is also perfect for a country getaway. The village of Millpool is tiny and quiet, all the amenities of Bodmin are not too far away, and it seems like almost anywhere you'd want to visit in Cornwall is an easy drive. The hosts were always responsive, and very knowledgable of the area, with great ideas of places to visit. The homemade scones were a lovely touch as well!
A great find and perfect for the 3 of us. Well positioned to explore Cornwall. Close to the Eden project but with such easy access to the A30 getting to places was easy. Not far from the A30 but so quiet and peaceful. Beautiful gardens and lovely hosts, not forgetting lovely Sonny the dog who was just gorgeous. We loved the outside space, nice to relax after a day out. The hot tub was very welcome after lots of walking each day, a real treat. Thank you Jenny and Lester.....only one complaint.....our week went too quickly!

Thank you for your very kind review. It was a pleasure to host you all, just the perfect guests.
It was a,choice of ours after looking at several in the vicinity and it turned out to be an excellent one. We were greeted by Lester and let into the Lodge which was immaculate and because it was a little chilly, he turned on the heating. His wife, Jenny, came in later and explained the grounds which were lovely to walk around, there was a small lake and a stream which meandered through the property. A heater/humidifier had been put in our bedroom so it was nice and cosy and a cream tea had been prepared and welcomed us. We were told of all the local eateries, which we took full advantage of, visiting, The Blisland Inn was our favorite and tended to be our local. We went to the Eden Project twice and visited 2 Castles so we took full advantage of the area.
Our hosts were very friendly and we put the world to rights on many a conversation with them. Everything was as advertised and we will return when we can.
The lodge itself is lovely - comfortable and a good amount of space for us, nice bathroom, well-appointed kitchen, and it was useful to have a second toilet.
The garden and woods were really beautiful. I had a couple of early morning wanders in the garden, which was very enjoyable even though the weather wasn't especially kind to us that week!
The hot tub deserves a special mention! It was perfect for the end of the day - a real treat.
Our host Jenny was very helpful with advice on local walks and places to visit - especially on where to go for kayaking and other water sport activities.
Check-in was very easy, and we arrived to a very nice cream tea waiting for us in the lodge.
It's also a great location with plenty to do in the area. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Eden Project (30 mins by car), The BIG Sheep (1h30 by car), and the Punk Potter Studio for a pottery throwing class (40 mins by car) and some kayaking on one of the nearby lakes. We loved Hội-An Restaurant in Bodmin.
It's hard to find scope for improvement! The only thing I'd suggest would be a clarification in the listing about the dryer listed under "facilities" (the lodge itself doesn't have one - though Jenny is happy to dry items on request).
In summary, it's a strong recommendation from us for Millpool Lodge! We had a really lovely stay - many thanks, Jenny.
We booked here for my sisters birthday just me her and my mum and it was brilliant! The grounds were beautiful and we really enjoyed wondering around. The hot tub was ready for us to use which was a bonus after travelling! The host left us some wine, scones and nibbles which went down a treat. Close enough to everything you could need but also not too close that it took away from the nature and tranquility of our stay. We will definitely be booking again! Thank you!!

Thank you so much for your kind review, it was a pleasure to host you all and so glad you had a lovely time. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Jenny

This review is absolutely disappointing and totally untrue. I owned a 5 star Gold Crown Tourist Board penthouse for 7 years and know my standards. There is no way the Lodge represents a two star review. So let us look at how these guests enjoyed the garden and every night in the hot tub. BUT NO I need a new kitchen. Really? the Lodge is a country house and the kitchen has solid oak doors in a country style, with similar style tiles and is very in keeping. What is suggested here MDF rubbish.? The tiles in the bathroom are absolutely fine and clean and as for the oven!!! I know it is clean as I cleaned it myself before these guests arrived. I do not belong to a throw away society and my standards are well tested...just look at all the other 5 star reviews. As far as I can see our German guests will only be satisfied with a brand new oven on each occasion. I have just taken photos which I will try and add to prove that this review is unreasonable, and make your own decisions about why.

Hi Bettina I am sorry for your remarks it is very strange that you said nothing to me while you were staying. Of course it is possible the cleaner did not clean the oven, and normally it is always cleaned. No one has ever complained to me about this. Also if you did not want to use the hot tub it is possible to say before arrival and I can adjust the price as the payment is always made via the portal.
Marvellous peaceful lodge with wonderful garden! Centrally located!
We had a marvellous holiday in Cornwall. Millpool lodge is really great if you search for a very cosy lodge with really everything you need available (kitchen with oven, microwave, enough kitchen tools,...), a washing machine,... The garden is absolutely amazing! We even stayed once a full day just in the garden, enjoying a barbecue (yes, also available) along the river with the waterfall and ending the day in the jacuzzi with view on the garden. The location is excellent: very peaceful, you only hear birds at night (no traffic!) and also centrally located in Cornwall, 2-3 minutes drive to the main highway of Cornwall. Jenny is really friendly and helpful and she responds very quick to any question you may have. I really recommend this place!
The property was all as described. The host was very engaging and welcoming and makes a delicious scone! It’s in a great location to visit both coasts on days out and this is why we chose it. We had 2 teens with us and they loved the hot tub but the property is not ideally suited to have 2 older kids, purely for space on sofas and bunk beds etc- this was all pointed out to us by Jenny before we confirmed so had no impact on our stay.
Ideally situated for exploring and easy to find with few Cornish roads to navigate once off the A road
Very Clean with all amenities for self catering Thankyou
Beautiful gardens and ideally situated for visiting most of Cornwall! It was great having your own front and back door to come and go as you wanted. Great hot tub but unfortunately the weather was too cold for us!

About the host
Hosted by Jenny Cruse
Previous PE Teacher and Watersports coach. Finally retired end of season 2016. I now look after our 3.5 acre garden which I love. Although it is hard work I am loving looking after all the plants and creating new areas of interest. Hubby builds the walls and the new greenhouse and the new pathways. We have lived in Cornwall for over 40 years and worked in our Outdoor Pursuits centre for 20 years, so know good places to visit. We try to suggest the ideal trips for our guests. We also can offer yoga sessions which can be taken in the conservatory, and watersports on our 7.5 Jeanneau which is based in Falmouth. We can take you out for a days boating and exploring the lovely Fal estuary and all the wildlife. Or we can offer waterskiing and wakeboarding as we are qualified coaches.
Why they chose this property
We are ideally situated for visiting south and north coasts. Also to visiting all parts of our lovely county. Our gardens are lovely, and ideal for pic nics and garden walks. We love our guests to enjoy our gardens, and spend time in them to relax and unwind. The waterfalls stream and lakes provide calming watery noises and there are seated areas everywhere so you can relax and enjoy. There is a bar be que area and hot tub. We have also installed outdoor lighting so guests can enjoy sitting by the stream at night.
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet yet close to the main A30 Opportunity to spend time with nature and beautiful calm surroundings. Tranquil and relaxing spaces
