About this property
Loved for Its Tranquility, exclusivity. Central location. Hot tub.
Hayguard Barn is a traditional stone built barn, constructed of old red sandstone which is a special feature of old local Pembrokeshire barns.
It was converted back in the late 90s from a calves-cott and barley store loft. Offering spacious accommodation for 6.
It occupies a beautiful private setting overlooking the pond with an array of wildlife, such as home ducks, migrant ducks, home moorhens, Coots and the odd Heron and Cormorant.
The barn is naturally separated from the working part of the farm with a spacious upside down accomodation. The bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs and upstairs is open plan living.
Its uniqueness includes hand made ceramic tiles and pieces inspired by the sea, which can be seen around every corner of the barn. Made by Alison's late sister Julia, Including coiled and slab built sinks and light fittings made on site. It is designed to make maximum use of the light and space.
Super fibre broadband is provided for free. It's been said that it is nearly as fast as is what people get in the Cities.
This farm, close to the wonderful Pembrokeshire beaches and the old port town of Milford Haven, has been in the family for generations. And it is the family who make it special.
Hayguard Hay Barn, Ford Farm, is situated off the A4076 main road, which makes it an easy drive from the A40 of Haverfordwest, or the A477 from Pembroke Dock which takes you over the Cleddau bridge, with the spectacular views of the Cleddau estuary and the ports of both Pembroke Dock where you might catch a glimpse of the Irish Ferry on its journey to and from Rosslare, Ireland, and Milford Haven, and the small popular marina in Neyland.
When you arrive you will see the lawns and farmyard garden flow into the rich vegetation around the large pond with it’s water lilies and Irises. Around this area you may be greeted by our very friendly dogs Tilly and Mostin. But if are unsure about them, we can put them away.
Check in at the farmhouse, then wander past the hens, and the waddling ducks, into your home for your holiday.
Just below your holiday home, just opposite the pond, you will see the Pond Studio, once a working farm workshop, which was once filled with old vintage tractors such as Nuffield and Fordson. Then it was transformed into a ceramic studio, where all the pieces you will see inside the barn were produced. by Julia. There are still some there, some finished, some unfinished, but sadly none are for sale.
Today it's a Music, Games studio. One side, is a electric organ and piano, which can be used, but only under strict supervision with very young children.
The other side of the studio is a multi games table, which can be transformed from a Pool Table, to an Air Hockey Table and a Table Tennis Table, very popular with all ages, and perfect for those wet summer days or for those days when you would rather just relax in the barn.
On the wall is a Smart TV which is connected to a Bluray player, Surround sound system and a Nintendo Wii.
Below the TV, you will see an array of games for the wii and DVDs for all ages to watch and play. The DVDs can be taken to be used in the accomodation, but please return them back to where you had them
Also on the shelf you will find a turntable which is connected to the surround system, with a selection of vinyl albums for you to use.
Outside the barn is a wood burning hot tub. Introduced in 2021. a 6 seater Cotswold Eco tub, which is heated completely from fire wood. Sadly, the tub is not included in the initial price, as not everyone wishes to use it. If you wish to use it, let us know, so we can prepare it with water, wood and kindling. You just need to heat it.
Takes approximately 2 hours to heat from cold, and hour to heat on consecutive nights.
It can be lit on your arrival for an additional £10 charge, but most want to lite it themselves to get the full experience.
There will be wood supplied for a cost. You can bring your own, but we are very competitive to the sacks you buy in the nearest hardware stores.

About the host
Hosted by Alison Thomas
Hayguard Hay Barn is located in Ford Farm, which has been in the family for generations. We live in the traditional longhouse farmhouse which is set on a large farmyard surrounded by traditional lime washed barns with the distinctive Pembrokeshire red doors and windows. Around 30 years ago this farm was producing early Pembrokeshire potatoes, turkeys and milk to the nearby towns and communities. Today it is farmed for arable crops and offers grazing for sheep in the winter.
Also one of the fields is a home to our handsome Dartmoor Hill pony called Patch. He loves treats, and brushing. Guests are welcome to meet, with either Phil or Alison in attendance.

Why they chose this property
Hayguard Barn is the only holiday letting on site, and we as host are prepared to give you a very special holiday experience here in Pembrokeshire.
The coastline is minutes away. with an array beaches to visit. Previous guests have their owns favourites, which range from Dale, Broad Haven North, Little Haven, Newgale, Broad Haven South, Barrafundle,Marloes, Abereiddy, where the blue lagoon is situated, (Very popular for Coasteering).
Here is what one previous guest said...
"Phil and Alison are wonderful and extremely warm hosts, the barn is a beautiful property and the farm a marvellous playground for adults and children alike. The location is perfect for a whole host of Pembrokeshire's finest sandy beaches: we loved Whitesands and Freshwater West."
The area is ideal for coastal path walkers with Puffin shuttle buses nearby which will take you to your starting point, and will pick you up from your finishing point. Skomer Island is about 20 minutes away in the community of Marloes and St Brides where you will capture incredible live images of the Puffins, Manx sheerwaters
The accomodation is more or less located in the middle of the county with the north about 45 minutes away with places like St Davids, Fishguard, Newport and the southern point around 30 minutes with places like Saunderfoot, Amroth, Wiseman's Bridge, Freshwater West where Dobby from the Harry Potter moviesand East and of course, Tenby.
The red sandstone barn is big, light and upside-down, with the vaulted, open-plan living area gazing out over fields and farmhouse and buildings. Oak floors, local slate, a wood-burner and colourful unique ceramics give it a natural, warm feel.
The Bedrooms downstairs, are simple spaces of white plaster and colourful covers – but mostly you'll be upstairs or out on the lawn with the birds.

What makes this property unique
There is nothing better than getting up to the early sunrise through the bedroom windows, turning the ducks out of their shed and watch them fly over towards the pond, then turning the chickens out to the lawn and watch them compete to catch the early worms with the blue tits and robins. Away from the peaceful farm yard there are an array of things to do. Coastal walking, windsurfing, sailing, coastal botany, golf, castle viewing, watching the bird life on Skomer Island, boat trips, coastal swimming, gallery viewing, and a plethora of arts and crafts in Pembrokeshire
