About this property
Spring Gardens, 4-bedroom seaside family home
A family home, 6 minutes walk to the beach and 2 minutes from the shops. This 1900's townhouse has been renovated to provide all modern amenities whilst retaining a quirky charm.
As a family with 4 children, we've spent many holidays on the lovely Isle of Wight and we're happy to now be able to offer this home to others.
We're also foster carers and know what is needed to create an easy, safe, family holiday, with baby equipment, some toys, books, games and a console all there to use.
The space
As we stay here ourselves, we've made sure that the house is well equipped, particularly for children, but also for home working and adult relaxation.
All rooms are recently decorated. There are high-quality mattresses and linen. The house is wonderfully quiet at night with no traffic noise.
The kitchen has a tall fridge/freezer, gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and of course all the crockery and utensils you might want. The sunny dining room can seat up to 8 people (plus high chair) with a TV on the wall to entertain the kids while you cook. Alternatively, you can eat out on the patio just outside the kitchen door: it's quite a sun-trap and is not overlooked.
For babies we include a good condition Oyster 2 pushchair, microwave bottle steriliser, high chair, stair gates, baby bath, changing mat, travel cot, video monitors, sippy cups, weaning spoons, hip seat, and baby carrier.
For young children we include stair gates, booster seat, toddler steps, toys, buckets and spades, plates, bowls, cups and cutlery, toddler bed, and bed guard.
The lounge and dining room have TVs with DVD players and all streaming services (bring your own login), plus a TV in one of the double rooms. There's a games console plus games in the lounge along with a selection of DVDs for all ages, books and games.
The house is connected via super-fast fibre-optic broadband with a good Wi-Fi signal throughout. Mobile phone reception is also fine. If you need to keep some work ticking over while you're away, you can plug your laptop into the dual-monitors, keyboard, mouse, camera and speaker provided via the USB docking station and make use of the super-fast Wi-Fi for any video conferences.
As foster carers we know all about safety! We have radio-linked smoke alarms, fire doors on the bedrooms, emergency escape lighting, stair gates, first aid kit, fire extinguisher/blanket, electrical and gas safety checks, and blind cord safety hooks. The stairs down to the kitchen are steep but we have two solid handrails and non-slip treads.
Guest access
You will have the entire house to enjoy yourselves.
Other things to note
We can arrange cheap car ferry tickets for you on request, often at about 30% off.

About the host
Hosted by Jo Gaul

Our children are all in their twenties now but as foster carers we have other younger children coming and going and having this house in Shanklin means we can have easy quick breaks to the seaside with them.
Why they chose this property
We bought this house to rent out to others and stay in ourselves. We love it because it is on a very quiet street but just 2 minutes from the shops and only 6 minutes from the sandy beach. Having 4 bedrooms (sleeping up to 8) gives plenty of flexibility in sleeping arrangements, and there is communal space as well for working from home and relaxation.
What makes this property unique
The house is very child-friendly and also good for doing a bit of working from home if you have to.
It has pretty much all the baby and infant equipment you would want: an Oyster 2 pram, steriliser, bibs and plastic bowls/plates, stair/kitchen gates, baby bath, high chair, booster seats, toys, games, paper and pencil crayons, cupboard locks, and so on. There is a travel-cot and an infant bed available as well as the 8 adult sleeping spaces.
There is a desk in bedroom 1 with a USB docking station, dual monitors, mouse, keyboard, webcam and speaker. The house has 100Mb/s fibre-optic broadband and excellent Wi-Fi coverage.
