Excellent. This home was absolutely beautuful!!!!!! Would definitely come back for family gatherings! Thank you!
Great for entertaining
We used this place for a girls weekend for 10 women. The home was clean and had plenty of room to comfortably sleep all of us. It’s got a wonderful set up for entertaining as well. The screened in porch was great to sit and lookout at the river and listen to the trains go by. The home is nestled between Alma and Nelson and great location to go between wineries. No complaints and we’ll definitely come back when we get a chance.
Great weekend on the river!
Our weekend at the Great River Retreat was wonderful. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The rec room and bunk room were an awesome use for us and we had a blast! Perfect spot on the river, and we can’t wait to visit again.
We had a great time. Place was awesome and lots of room for our whole group.
First and foremost, the hosts, Jeremiah and Jessica, were absolutely wonderful! Very accommodating to our requests (checking in early) with very quick response time! As for the property itself, it was absolutely gorgeous and very relaxing! The home most certainly provides a little bit of something for all age groups to get into, not to mention, the train is a really cool feature, especially if you enjoy coffee on the porch. The one thing I would point out/recommend, if you are planning to stay within the winter months, PACK WARM CLOTHING! Although the house has many things to offer, heat is one thing it does lack in.. fairly disappointed that the gas firepit/table pictured in the sun room was not there, as that was one thing we had all been very excited about and would have possibly helped with the heating problem. Lastly, if you’re anything like me and prefer to clean up after yourself apon check out, the vacuum provided did not work :(
Overall, I would highly recommend! Especially for larger groups/families with younger kiddos.
Beautiful large place & so much to do in the area.
Very well stocked with anything you would need. Plenty of towels, dishes & beds were very comfortable. One thing, if you have trouble with steps, please know there are steps to all but 1 bedroom. Only 1 bathroom easily accessible. The location is perfect & such a lovely area. We saw eagles & barges go by-we did enjoy our stay!
Stay on the backwaters of the Mississippi River and enjoy gorgeous views of the water, trains passing by, and the abundant wildlife. Take a day trip to explore the many wineries in the area and wine taste your way up and down the Great Mississippi River Road. While you're here you can hike up to Buena Vista Park and experience the stunning view from a top the bluffs of Alma, WI. Or, if you'd rather, take a nice drive along the river to soak in views of the bluffs, wildlife, and river. Another must see is the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN, featuring live eagles. If you're visiting us in the winter don't forget to bring your skis, snowboard, or snowshoes. If you like fishing, we've got that too! So again, if it's winter, pack your ice shack and warm clothes and Flotty will show you where all the fish are biting. We've also got great biking trails and roads if you are a cyclist. If you like boating, kayaking, canoeing, or just about any other water sport we've got the perfect location for you to do all of those things as well. Feel free to bring your boat and tie it up at our dock or rent our Pontoon or Jet Ski, Into golfing? Yes, we have that too! Like campfires? Perfect, we've got a great fire pit for roasting s'mores. To experience something really unique, add Suncrest Gardens to your list. Suncrest Gardens has the best pizza in the area, live music many nights, and a nice fire to keep you warm as the evening fades away. Only catch is you have to bring your table, chairs, plates, napkins, and silverware but no worries you can borrow ours. You can also explore the many small river towns along the Mississippi, do some shopping, eating, or antiquing. Lastly, if you love deep-fried cheese curds, or if you have no idea what those are, than you must go to Pioneer (a 10-minute boat ride) and you'll have the best hand-battered white cheese curds Wisconsin (or anywhere else) has to offer. Not to mention, the Saturday night prime rib that melts in your mouth. Please also visit our website and visit our Facebook page for the latest happenings:
