Experience the romance of a BARN. "DO YOU THINK YOU LIVE IN A BARN"YES!!
Enjoy my restored 1849 barn at the end of a secluded road. (it's a 240-acre farm). Remote, quiet location with a 3-acre backyard, firepit included. This isolated location still allows easy access to your college and Columbus destinations. Come back to the barn, snuggle up, build a fire, cook a meal, listen to coyotes howl, watch birds and wildlife and see stars that are invisible in any metropolitan area. It is pure country air. So remote, yet 18 miles from Amazon, Intel, and new companies moving into New Albany.
The barn provides an escape back in time when neighbors were few, the skies were devoid of pollution, and there was land all around you, Experience country peace. Inside, explore the barn's evolution. This 200 year old structure maintains its original integrity with some 21st century surprises. Pamper yourself with a sauna or red light therapy session after a bonfire with smores, or a fire with wine in the huge indoor fireplace.
The location is perfect for college parents' weekends @ Mount Vernon Nazarene, Denison, Kenyon, or Ohio State. 23 minutes driving to Kenyon College- 15.8 miles. It is 14 minutes to Denison- -14.8 miles and 44 minutes to Ohio State- 39.3 miles. It is approx. 45 minutes to Polaris Parkway, beginning of Columbus, mecca of shopping and restaurants. 40 minutes to Easton Town Centre.(another side of Columbus). About one hour to Amish Country. (Mount Hope) Ideal just as a retreat for the week or weekend. Sleep at least nine in total. Two in the private master bedroom(queen) and two in the private bedroom upstairs. (queen), lots of extra pillows ranging from soft to hard, both big and small. Master with private outdoor access and bathroom. Patio doors provide beautiful outside sounds and a breeze! We just installed a 24,000 BTU mini split in the living room. Although there is propane heat, those areas tend to be tough to heat and cool(30-foot ceilings)You should be warm or cool, no matter the temperature. The unit was just put in Oct,24, so hopefully the heat and cooling issue in the big area is solved. Only time will tell The pellet stove provides a visible fire while heati nothing's better than opening the French doors and listening to the sounds of nature, silence, and a crackling fire in the backyard fire pit! When remodeling the barn; we triinal structure's integrity. The stalls were removed for the custom kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom. The cows were housed in the now-remodeled first-floor bedroom with a bathroom. The milkroom is now the laundry room. It has its own toilet and shower. It also has a separate entrance for dirty hikers, explorers, hunters, or even dogs to shower. Upstairs, what were haylofts, are now bedrooms and a game room. The kitchen is fully equipped with three coffee makers, one for ground, a French press, and one for the whole bean. There are. plenty of ground beans and packets of ground coffee for your use. SS newer LG appliances, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, instant pot, air fryer, toaster, spices, condiments, sugar. Bring your own bottled water, coffee creamer, and groceries. Granite countertops, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator. No ice maker in fridge. There is Caraway and Cuisinart cookware. The reverse osmosis water filtration faucet is next to the farmhouse sink. Garbage disposal is a push-button control in the granite. Four bathrooms, Central propane, and 24,000 BTU mini split heating. Central air cooling installed Feb. 2019. Six ceiling fans, USE FANS TO DRAW HEAT DOWN> 30-foot ceiling. 50,000 BTU pellet stove, Senville mini split artic heat, and the cool unit are in the main living area and a wood-burning fireplace. Today we installed Starlink Satellite, so you may stream to your heart's content. The upstairs television and master bedroom TV also are smart tvs. The upstairs gameroom has a poker table, tons of board games, or hook up your gaming system to that tv. All the games are now in the old trunk under that tv in the game room.
The third bathroom on the first floor is in the mudroom/laundry room. This is an original barn. I've fought hurdles to make the barn a one-of-a-kind luxury experience in the middle of farm country. Having said that, Intel is beginning to start its chip factory ten minutes away. My guess is this remote location will be seeing a lot of changes! There is pretty pure water, but we bring water to drink. There is a Reverse Osmosis silver faucet next to the sink. We do drink from there and use it for coffee.
I use a walker, the barn is handicap accessible. just one step into the barn, first-floor master, shower bench and grab bars into the main bathrooms. The doors and hall are not wide enough for a wide wheelchair, but speaking from experience, it works with a walker—no need for steps. The walker stays at the barn in the laundry room if you need it. It is treated for bugs every quarter, but, there very well may be some! The bugs are usually found on window sills dead daily after these treatments. I can’t do anything about that. It is cleaned on Sundays or Mondays, all bugs are swept up.That doesn’t mean you won’t find them in those few days it was empty. I made the choice better dead than flying around! So be aware, spring and fall is the worst for dead bugs. If you’re in and out a lot during the summer flies, will certainly get in the screen doors. This was not a purchased kit to mimic a barn. If I had done that, it wouldn’t be old and authentic, but I’ll bet I wouldn’t of had this bug problem! Wood beams, built with pegs rather than nails, mantle, and structure are the REAL deal. The outside wood had shrunk, so the barn was clad in grey metal last month. Hopefully, that will keep some bugs out.
There are dogs, roosters, cows, and chickens across the lane! There are wetlands on the opposite with fowl, plenty of turkey and deer. Covid helped the coyote population, they are howling every night. I love to hear them, but, if you have a dog, DO NOT LET HIM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT! They may seem friendly, but they are not.
There is a propane Weber grill on the deck. Please make sure the propane is turned off totally and the grill is cleaned and covered after use. There is a fire pit outside, too. I provide one fire, just leave cash in the honor box if you exceed included amounts!
No question is dumb and I welcome the opportunity to provide a unique, one-of-a-kind, intimate trip away from home! Thanks for looking.

Leslie was very helpful both before and after renting. She checked in with us during our stay. She even made the effort to return an item that we had inadvertently left. The house was well equipped and comfortable. Thanks Leslie for a good trip.

We had a great visit at this property! It was a convenient location for us, as we have family in the surrounding area. The barn is spacious but with a cozy feel and all the renovations they have done are impressive. It is stocked with everything you could want for your stay and then some. We will gladly return again!

We had a wonderful stay in the barn. We liked the peaceful setting and the home-like family accommodations. There were 9 of us and it was easy to fit ourselves in for a cozy, family weekend. Leslie was great to deal with all the way. We will be back someday.

WOW! What an absolutely gorgeous place! How Leslie had the vision to makeover this old barn is beyond me! The history of this barn/turned into a beauuuuutiful home is super cool!! We felt like we had walked on to the set of Yellowstone! Located in the middle of cornfields and cattle, there is PLENTY of room for everyone, so cozy, warm, welcoming! A GREAT LOFT with a catwalk to the game room, great porches and fire pit outside. Best part was the dream kitchen in which to open a bottle of wine, cook dinner for some hungry equestrians, and linger over coffee (decaf) to unwind. A perfect place to come “home” to after a full day of competition at Bravehorse (only a 20 minute drive). We will definitely book this beautiful barn the next show!!! I almost hate to tell everyone about it because I’d secretly want to keep it to myself! lol! But truly… you HAVE to check this treasure out! And Leslie is my favorite host of all time.

The barn is far more beautiful in person than the pictures if you ask us! The atmosphere is very relaxing and the owner Leslie is very generous and kind having left us a lovely bottle of wine as we were celebrating our 21st anniversary. We definitely plan to visit again sometime! I’d give 10 stars if I could!

Beautiful updated barn in a quiet country location.
This past weekend our crew of 7 moms stayed at "The Barn" for our college reunion. The owner was gracious and provided us with everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. There were also fresh eggs from the neighbors! We had a wonderful time and if you are looking for a peaceful weekend away, this is the place to stay.

Enjoyed the unique renovated barn setting. Perfect for our weekend family wedding nearby. Could have used better outside furniture on porch. A little too much of the owners stuff in the house. The coffee machine was nice and very cozy.

I am so sorry you were not happy with the outside furniture. I have Adirondak chairs from Frontgate, recliners, and outside plastic chairs for the fire pit. You are right, the barn has lots of eclectic stuff specifically related to the history of the barn. It's a fine line between portraying the barn's history and too much stuff! Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take it to heart!

Restored Barn that lives up to Listing
Leslie was super helpful and accommodating during and after our rental. Large open family room area and kitchen with a modern take. A large loft area with sleeping and tv room is available but we never left the living room couch to enjoy it. The property is very cool and is definitely distinct from the neighbors, so it was very easy to locate from the direction provided. A nice place to enjoy a relaxing weekend.

Awesome property! Very unique and definitely not a "cookie cutter" stay. Leslie was very attentive to every need. She left personal notes and a welcome gift. She also checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was fine.
Awesome area to explore (mounds, winery, Granville, Heath, Alligator Mound,). Was a nice place to get away. We had fun visiting our kiddos at Denison. Looking forward to returning...maybe graduation weekend.
Very memorable stay.

Decided to convert an old barn into a home. it is a romantic, quiet beautiful getaway. I hope you enjoy the get away as much as I do. We do use this, so please treat this as you would your own home! It is more a home than a motel! When we did the renovation, we saved old barn siding from the hayloft and chicken area. We sealed these, and you can see faint calculations and dates on them keeping track of their egg? sales of the day!!!
