About Leslie Bouvier
The owner is a native of NH and has enjoyed summers on the lake with her family for 10 years. The owner's cottage is next door to the rental. It is very important to the owner for travelers to enjoy their vacation stay at Cottage LaBelleLac. The owner will check in guests in at the onset of their stay to assure they are comfortable and aware of all the amenities that cottage has to offer.
Leslie Bouvier purchased this House in 2015
Why Leslie Bouvier chose New Durham
I purchased this cottage because I love the beauty that lake living has to offer and the authentic lake feeling that this cottage has to offer. Crystal clear spring fed lake water, quiet, amazing sunsets, loons, bald eagles and clear nights to view the milky way are all there to be enjoyed. Also, it is located so close to amenities like a large grocery store, restaurants, bars and a concert venue.
What makes this House unique
Quiet, family lake. Sandy bottom. Clean lake for swimming. Close to access to NH white Mountains Perfect for water sports. Dock on property. Use of owner's kayaks and paddleboard. Amazing views of the lake. Closeness to supermarkets and Alton Bay. Cozy cottage feel with modern conveniences.

We rented a Lake house in New Durham NH and it was wonderful. The house was perfect, the owner was very nice, the lake was beautiful. It was a short stay but we enjoyed our quiet time away. Will definitely go back
The perfect place on a beautiful lake
My sisters and I surprised our mother for her 80th birthday for a getaway weekend on the lake. The lake itself was pristine and peaceful. The cottage was both clean and cozy offering all the basic amenities and more. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, relaxing on the porch or dock while taking in the beautiful and scenic views. Leslie the owner was wonderful and easy to work with. We are so happy we discovered this hidden gem and hope to return for a future stay!
Thank you Shannon for taking the time to submit a review.
It was nice to meet your family. It was so special to host you and your family for your mother's 80 th.
I would love to host again in the future.
This is the second year I’ve rented this property, and I’ve already booked my third for next year. Merrymeeting is a special lake with its pristine cleanliness, quiet and scenic location and breathtaking views of the mountains. Au Bel Lac is a special cottage: charming with its cottage feel, rustic but not in an inconvenient way. It all adds up to a spectacular vacation experience. And Leslie the owner is easily accessible should there be a need. Highly recommended!
Thanks John! It was wonderful seeing you again this year! You have already booked for 2020.. so see you next year!
Had a wonderful week with friends and family. We spent our week swimming and reading in the yard. The lake was quiet and serene. It was the perfect, relaxing vacation.
Thank you for your kind review. The lake is really it’s own star. Currently the temp of the lake water is 78 degrees. Five stars for the lake!
And well, the cottage is pretty comfy also!
Our multi-generational family enjoyed the fishing, boating and swimming. The cottage's open floor plan worked well and the deck provided a perfect spot to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee and the sunset with a glass of wine!
Thank you for your kind review. I enjoyed meeting your family!
Cozy cottage on a beautiful lake
Very cozy clean cottage with spectacular views of the lake. What a quiet peaceful stay we had! The kitchen was very well stocked - even had condiments for our burgers! Comfortable living area with a fast WiFi connection and a big screen TV. One of our favorite spots was the dining table with a view of the beautiful lake. We found ourselves just hanging out there talking long after our meals were done.
The one thing that could be improved is the sleeping quarters. It rained quite a bit during our stay, and unfortunately the lower level bedroom was unsatisfactory due to the humidity and dank smell. There was a dehumidifier running down there and we emptied it as needed, but it could not keep up with the problem. When sleeping on the bed in the main bedroom, we tended to roll toward the middle of the mattress, which made it rather uncomfortable for two people.
All in all, a great cottage on a very beautiful lake. We're glad we discovered this place.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and tell me about your concerns. I am sorry that the dehumidifier provided on the lower level did not create an environment that you were seeking. Perhaps one of the settings was adjusted to a setting that was below the level that has keep other guests comfortable during the 1-2 humid weeks that the lower sleeping area can become humid.
Also, I took the time to rotate the mattress and I have not had any other guests comment about the relatively new mattress. Thank you for your input.
If in the future this is a problem, I won' t hesitate to replace it as it is important to me that every guest enjoy their experience at the cottage and certainly a good night's sleep is at the top of that list.
The wonderful thing about the location of the cottage is that it possess the feeling of being away from it all while close enough to amenities to allow it to be convenient.
The lake is perfect for paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming or for watercraft. The Merry Meeting Marina is an easy place to launch a renters watercraft or get the family an ice cream cone. The property has a dock adequate to tie off a jet ski or a boat.
Nearby, on South Shore Road is the NH Fish Hatchery that offers fish food to feed a large array of native NH fish before they are released into area lakes. GREAT FOR KIDS!
The New Durham convenience store is close by (ten minutes) and it features fresh pizza, staple groceries and beverages and worms for fishing!
For a larger selection of food items, a Hannaford grocery store is 15 minutes drive to the Alton traffic circle.
Johnson's Restaurant on Route 11 (10 minutes) has an amazing selection of ice cream and fried foods and their market next door offers a fine beer and wine selection, specialty meats and lobster.
The town of Wolfeboro, located on Lake Winnipesaukee, is a mere 30 minutes drive and features a WW 2 and boat museum, restaurants, shopping, scuba diving, paddle boarding rentals, and the chance to view the lake on the ship the "Winnipesaukee Belle".
