-Kallimarmaro / Panathenaic Stadium
The Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. One of the main attractions of Athens, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. A stadium was built on the site of a simple racecourse by the Athenian statesman Lykourgos (Lycurgus) c. 330 BC, primarily for the Panathenaic Games. It was rebuilt in marble by Herodes Atticus, an Athenian Roman senator, by 144 AD and had a capacity of 50,000 seats. After the rise of Christianity in the 4th century it was largely abandoned. The stadium was excavated in 1869 and hosted the Zappas Olympics in 1870 and 1875. After being refurbished, it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896 and was the venue for 4 of the 9 contested sports. It was used for various purposes in the 20th century and was once again used as an Olympic venue in 2004. It is the finishing point for the annual Athens Classic Marathon. It is also the last venue in Greece from where the Olympic flame handover ceremony to the host nation takes place.

Incredible venue living up to promise of amazing views
First of all thank you to the host for making us feel welcome. The venue lives up to the promise in offering amazing views of the Parthenon. There are views from the bedroom (amazing to wake up to), there are views from the kitchen. There are views from two balconies. We were fortunate to also have access to the (shared) rooftop which offered a panoramic view of Athens. The apartment is also centrally located and a relatively short walk to the Acropolis and shopping area such as Plaka. The only downside (not the fault of the owner) is the fact that you are on the high side of Athens so yes there is a gradient going to the shops and there are stairs to negotiate. So yes you will definitely get a workout. But that is the price of getting such incredible views. The amenities were great overall and we appreciated the full size dining suite. The kitchen was a little small but functional. Overall a joy to stay and will consider staying again. 5/5.

Mesmerising view
The view from the apartment was a highlight. From every room it was breathtaking. Particularly the evenings were perfect to capture the light on the Parthenon. Very comfortable for a couple. There was a good cafe close by but it was quite a walk to the restaurants and back. Good exercise and worth it for the view.

Acropolis view appartment
Clean and comfortable. Well located for amenities and acropolis. Minor negatives: no lift, had to carry heavy luggage up 2 flights and lighting was dim which made it hard to unpack at night

Acropolis views from every window
The apartment was fabulous and as described it does have mind blowing views from every room, including the bathroom window! The kitchen was well equipped, everything we needed. The air-con worked really well and the auto blinds were great for blocking out light. Extra pillows would be good and larger sized bed sheets, they barely covered the mattress. The location is great, an easy walk to the Plaka area. Lots of restaurants and bars close by. The Acropolis Museum was fantastic and only a short walk. We would definitely recommend this apartment!
