cancellation problem
Two days before check-in I contacted the owner for instructions on how to access the apartment. I was told the booking had been cancelled for non-payment. I had received no notice that a payment was due or that the reservation was going to be cancelled. I don’t know if this lapse in protocol was with the owner or with VRBO.
Strangely the owner had another unit available for 13 days at the beginning of high season and offered it to us, at the same price for a less desirable unit. Since I was in no position to find a different rental on short notice, I had no choice but to take it.
The unit itself was acceptable with one caveat. The courtyard outside the unit was shared with a restaurant that was active at night with loud music and talking till the wee hours of the morning. We finally solved this problem by downloading a white noise app and letting it run all night.
