About this property

Within a stone's throw from the artists village St. Paul de Vence, embraced by the mountains and half an hour from Nice airport and the beach, you can enjoy the authentic Provençal Farm house Domaine La Cigogne. A place to get away from everyday life: walking in the woods that surround the terrain, enjoying delicacies that have the taste of the sun, a day at the sea, a trip to the mountains, strolling around old markets, visiting the many art galleries and museums in Vence and St Paul. The famous museum of modern art Fondation Maeght in St. Paul is just a 4 minute drive or a half hour walk from here.

The 3 bedrooms are authentically decorated in Provençal style. The 2 kitchens with dishwasher, washing machine and electric stove, large table, pantry, 3 refrigerators / freezer, microwave, oven and coffee / utensils / cooking ware. The sitting room with chaise longue, cozy armchair and coffee table and 2 bathrooms with toilet, sink and shower (and fresh towels). The bedrooms Chagall & Matisse have 1 king size and one queen size. The third Hessing bedroom has a king size that can be made up as 2 single beds, as desired. Outside the terrace has a large wooden/iron table (8 chairs) and a second round table under the big umbrella (4 chairs). Lounge chairs to enjoy the sun in the private garden and refreshing pool (17 m2 ).

I'm a web developer and my wife is a singer (french chansons), together with our two sons we live in former farm house in the forest between Vence and St Paul. We travel frequently to the Netherlands, but for a real vacation we go to a country in Europe were we have not lived before. I like to fix and drive old cars although the later is more successful. Micheline is into horse riding lately and loves working in her little vegetable garden, which she proudly shows to anyone visiting the house. I was raised around the hotel restaurant of my parents, hospitality has always been a part of my life.

Why they chose this property

Our renovated old farmhouse breaths the atmosphere of the Provence, it is surrounded bij a large terrain with terraces (restanges) and fruit trees and a view on the surrounding forrest. We once holidayed in this old Mas and we were taken by its beauty and location. Our loved the spacious garden and the swimming pool. The unique light of the ‘midi’ and the mild sunny climate which attracted painters like Chagall, Picasso and Miro to Saint-Paul and Vence has kept us here for 4 years already.

What makes this property unique

First of all the fantastic sunny climate, in a beautiful setting in the forest. Being located at the foothills of the Alpes, close to the sea has it's advantages. You can do almost any kind of outdoor sport here, to name just a few: Walking (Rando), trail running, rock climbing and sailing in the Mediterranean sea. The forrest starts outside or garden, the mountains like Col de Vence (famous route for cyclists) are 10 minutes away and the beach is half an hour away. The the medieval hilltop villages of Saint Paul and Tourretes-sur-Loup are among France’s most beautiful villages. Both are just a 10 minute drive away. In summer we have the bigger village of Vence with festivals of music and art taking place around place du grand Jardin.
