About the host
Hosted by Sue Jones
I am retired and live with my husband and our five dogs on a farm in Elstree, Hertfordshire. I worked as a PA in large law firms in the City of London for most of my working life but am now happily retired.
Why they chose this property
I have always loved North Cornwall and have often holidayed in Port Gaverne and when the chance came up of buying this cottage in St Teath I had no hesitation - even though it was falling down and in need of some serious tlc. Trevean has been completely gutted and renovated. The original slate floors were found under a thick layer of concrete and tar and the inglenook fireplace was uncovered behind a bricked in electric fire. I love this little cottage and hope you will do too.
What makes this property unique
The cottage has a lovely homely feel about it especially when the shutters are drawn, the fire lit and the candles on. It has been wonderful to see it come back to life again. I love sitting at the kitchen table working on my laptop and looking out at the garden through the big sash window. The far end is a "work in progress" so is fenced off at the moment but it is a haven for birds and wild life and dragons. The shallow pond is home to frogs and newts.
