The lovely water mill

It was such a beautiful stay, in a lovely quiet rural location. The mill was small but perfect for 2. It was well equipped, there is good air con in both bedrooms just above the beds( these aren't shown on the pictures), and theres a lovely little free standing pool, great for cooling off ( again, nit on the vrbo pictures). The outside area is lovely, with a hammock, great parking, the swing! The BBQ and pizza oven, it was such a beautiful place I dont want to over egg it, in case it became too popular, but, we loved it! It is remote, so I guess not for all, but that get away was right for us

Very pretty, homely and well-equipped stone cottage in a quiet but convenient location

I can highly recommend the house and the super friendly welcome by the owners. The cottage is cosy and very well equipped, there is a covered summer kitchen in the courtyard and lovely sunbathing areas on the lawn. Everything is well kept and clean. The house is secluded in the middle of fields, olive groves and vineyards. You can take beautiful walks directly from the house. The very little frequented motorway is easy to reach and you can easily get to other places: e.g. to the many castle ruins near the Spanish border or to the Douro valley. The care by Angelo and his mother-in-law was wonderful! Many thanks for that!

Our stay at Casa de MalhĂ”es was fantastic. The home was clean, spacious, and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need — from a well-stocked kitchen with coffee to an outdoor BBQ area complete with dishes and a sink. The hosts were friendly and very accommodating with our check-in and check-out times, which we truly appreciated. Our kids (2 & 5) loved the small pool — just the right size for a young family. The outdoor space was perfect for gathering and relaxing, though we’d recommend bringing bug spray for the evenings. We only wish we had more time — we would have loved to stay longer! Another thing worth noting is that its off the beaten path - so be prepared to drive down a dirt road and to be 'away' from any neighbours. The drive is well lit and there is cell phone reception at all times so its not so obscure that your off the grid, but it is far enough inland that your in a private space.

Geweldige, landelijke locatie

Zeer gastvrij ontvangen door Angelo in dit juweeltje op het prachtige platteland van Portugal. Veel privacy en buitenruimte. Het huisje is authentiek ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. Goede uitvalsbasis voor (wandel)tochten en stedenbezoek, zoals naar Guarda, Trancoso (vrijdagmarkt!), Pinhel. Maak een boottocht over de Douro, bezoek Porto, Aveiro, etc: de moeite waard. Eten & drinken is overal heerlijk tegen schappelijke prijzen en de mensen zeer gemoedelijk. Het zwembad bij het huisje was meer dan welkom, omdat het een warme zomer was. Een geweldige ervaring!

Very nice place

We stayed a week and found the house very modern in terms of amenities and very rustic in terms of architecture. We had never booked a longer stay but we really enjoy the Trancoso area and this proved to be a very handy location. It was great to have the quiet seclusion in the evenings after touring neighboring attractions during the day. AmĂĄlia and her husband were very accommodating. It was a very pleasant stay.

Maison de caractĂšres tenues aux charmes d'une histoire que les moins de 40 ans ne peuvent pas connaitre. Dans ce coin de campagne, blotti derriĂšre ses Ă©pais murs, des meubles anciens, Vous offrent l'hospitalitĂ©. Maria Amalia Rodigues reste dĂ©vouĂ© pour rendre votre sĂ©jour agrĂ©able et confortable, elle reste consciencieuse auprĂšs de vous. Elle et ses amis qu'elle ne tardera pas Ă  vous prĂ©senter, je pense au Professeur, vous conseillĂšra en tourisme. Grace Ă  elle nous avons parcouru la campagne marquĂ©e par ces impressionnants rochers et ses collines dĂ©nudĂ©es par de rĂ©cents incendies meurtriers. Puis, de nombreux authentiques de la Beira ou de l’Espagne proche vous raconteront au dĂ©tour des vielles ruelles, demeures, Ă©glises ou chĂąteaux une histoire mouvementĂ© datant de l'Ă©poque des templiers ou napolĂ©onienne. Par conviction religieuse deux sites sont indispensable sont Ă  visiter: Fatima et Lapa. Puis, Ă  2 petites heures du gĂźte, les plages de l'ocĂ©an sauront vous attendre pour passer d'agrĂ©ables moment du cĂŽtĂ© de Porto. Pour les amoureux, tout comme Ă  Venise, il existe une ville qui bercera vos cƓurs aimant: Aveiro. Comme vous pouvez vous en rendre compte il y a de quoi faire pour meubler son temps libre dans cette rĂ©gion de Trancoso. Le gite est parfaitement dĂ©crit dans la prĂ©sentation faite par les propriĂ©taires. Il est parfaitement Ă©quipĂ© mis Ă  par un lave vaisselle qui ne nous a pas manquĂ©. La tĂ©lĂ©vision est lĂ  en attendant que vous y branchiez votre dĂ©codeur Canal Sat Ă©quipĂ© de sa carte Ă  jour que vous n'aurez pas oubliĂ© avec vos bagages. Le rĂ©seau Wifi fonctionne correctement ainsi que le tĂ©lĂ©phone portable. L'espace extĂ©rieur est grand, fleuri et comporte un appentis dans lequel se trouve un grille ainsi qu'un four Ă  bois pour confectionner vos pizza et grillades. Il faudra, Ă  l'un des IntermarchĂ©s du coin, acheter le charbon de bois. A Vila Franca Das Naves, il existe un artisan boucher, Madeiro, qui fait d'excellente viandes, chorizo et autres charcuteries. Il vend le Porto pas plus cher qu’ailleurs. Pour l'excellent huile d'olive que nous vous conseillons, elle est issue de la propriĂ©tĂ©, comme ces diverses liqueurs proposĂ©es. Bref la famille de Amalia Rodrigues vous propose un excelle produit et il ne faut surtout pas hĂ©siter de s'y rendre. Attention toutefois aux pĂ©ages des taxes de pollution en vigueur sur les grands itinĂ©raires. Aussi, dĂšs votre entrĂ©e au Portugal, en provenance de l'autoroute, Ă  Vila Formoso prendre la direction N16.

Tolles Haus!

Wir (2Pers.) hatten zwar nur einen 4tĂ€gigen Aufenthalt, aber es war so zauberhaft. Die BegrĂŒĂŸung war warm und herzlich. Die mega leckeren Trink-und Essensgeschenke waren so liebevoll hergerichtet. Vielen Dank dafĂŒr nochmal! Die Ausstattung des Haus ist echt gut. Man hat alles, was man braucht (Jegliche KĂŒchenutensilien; es gibt sogar einen Fön im Bad). Uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Die Betten waren super bequem! Das GrundstĂŒck ist riesig, man ist quasi allein dort. Die Terrasse lĂ€dt zum Sonnenbaden ein. Vielen lieben Dank nochmal fĂŒr die 4 wundervollen, aber viel zu kurzen Tage, in der Casa de MalhĂ”es :)
