Bear Bungalow: A Romantic, Pet-Friendly Retreat Near Blowing Rock
Escape to Bear Bungalow, your private mountain hideaway just one mile from downtown Blowing Rock and the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway. It's the perfect place for anyone planning a romantic getaway, needing to beat the summer heat off the mountain, or are bringing along a furry friend for some mountain adventures. Originally built in the 1940's and lovingly updated just a few years back by a professional interior designer, this charming designer bungalow offers the perfect blend of privacy, comfort, and convenience.
Nestled in a quiet rhododendron grove, Bear Bungalow feels worlds away, yet it's just minutes from shops, restaurants, trails, and scenic drives. You'll be greeted by “Beulah” and “Buford,” two hand-carved bear statues created by artist Chris Smart, adding a whimsical welcome to your stay. Step inside through a custom wormy chestnut door and discover a space designed with intention, warmth, and just the right amount of rustic elegance.
Cozy Up & Unwind
The open-concept living area is perfect for cuddling up by the wood-burning fireplace with a glass of wine or movie night on the Bose surround sound system and 32" HDTV. Leather seating, slate floors, and handcrafted wood furnishings (including "hibernating bear" end tables) create a cozy, cabin-chic vibe.
Cook & Dine In
Prepare romantic dinners in the fully equipped kitchen, featuring solid maple cabinetry, granite countertops, accent lighting, and a sleek range top. Whether you're whipping up breakfast in bed or grilling out under the stars, Bear Bungalow has everything you need.
Rest Easy
The layout is designed for couples or small families, with a plush King bed in one room and a Queen in the other. Both sleeping areas include remote-controlled TVs with built-in DVD/VHS players (note: no cable in the Queen room), and share a clean, well-stocked bathroom with a tiled tub/shower.
Your Private Outdoor Oasis
French doors lead to a spacious, private deck, guaranteed to be your favorite new spot for morning coffee, evening cocktails, or soaking in the Hot Springs hot tub under the stars. Fire up the gas grill, lounge in the mountain air, or wander the gently sloping backyard with your pup by your side.
Yes, We're Pet-Friendly!
Small dogs are welcome at Bear Bungalow, so bring your four-legged friend along for the adventure. There's plenty of outdoor space to explore, and Blowing Rock offers dog-friendly parks, trails, and patios just minutes away.
