About this property

Small Barn - Spacious house close to attractions in Snowdonia National Park

Small Barn is a spacious 4 star holiday let near Dolgellau and Barmouth in Snowdonia, North Wales. The lovely slate-floored sun room has comfy sofas where you can relax and enjoy views across the Mawddach Estuary – often described as one of the most beautiful in Wales.

Small Barn has been newly refurbished in a cosy country cottage style. The house provides modern self-catering facilities and accommodation for 2 – 4 people in a traditional building and outstanding location. There is direct access to the Mawddach Estuary and Trail through our fields – it’s a great place to bring your bike, camera or dog!

Part of a former Victorian slate cutting mill, Small Barn, shares the same roof as three other self-catering properties and the owner's small B & B. The building is set in 45 acres of wild woods and fields leading down to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary. The outstanding scenery of Snowdonia National Park is all around. The self-catering lets adjoin the owner's small, award-winning camping and glamping site.

Despite its name, Small Barn is actually the most spacious self-catering let of four properties here at Graig Wen. The large lounge has a 37″ flat screen TV with Freeview channels, DVD, or you can enjoy the views quiety from the separate sun room. There is free wifi. The well equipped kitchen opens onto the lounge so you can socialise while you cook – and the dishwasher takes the strain! The two bedrooms are set out with one double bed and 2 single beds with colourful Welsh wool throws. You can see more photographs of Small Barn here in the album on our Facebook page.

Outside there is a fenced in decking area with seating and there’s 45 acres of beautiful meadows and woods to wander.

Sarah and John live at Graig Wen with their 2 friendly dogs and feisty cat. We also run the small camp site and bed and breakfast on site so are around if you need us. We left Brighton 11 years ago in a camper van and fell in love with this special part of Snowdonia National Park. Having lived in the city for many years, it's such a privilege to be able to walk through our fields to the Mawddach Estuary or bike along the trail to the shops.

Why they chose this property

Sarah and John live at Graig Wen with their 2 friendly dogs and feisty cat. We also run the small camp site and bed and breakfast on site so are around if you need us. We left Brighton 11 years ago in a camper van and fell in love with this special part of Snowdonia National Park. Having lived in the city for many years, it's such a privilege to be able to walk through our fields to the Mawddach Estuary or bike along the trail to the shops.

What makes this property unique

Graig Wen is a fantastic location for walkers, whether you fancy a stroll along the flat Mawddach Trail, or more strenuous climbs around the hills and mountains. Footpaths lead directly from the site and it's a brilliant place to bring your bike or dog. The views from the site itself are beautiful and there are communal areas for guests to take in the panorama of mountains and estuary. Some of the properties share this view - others overlook woodland across the road. The site is a paradise for bird-spotters and photographers without having to leave the gates. Our adjoining small camp site, as featured in the Cool Camping Guides, offers some great opportunities for family den-building, toasting marshmallows around a camp fire and meeting new friends. Sarah and John, the owners, live on site so are around to help with suggestions for you to get the most of your holiday.
