Amazing views of Kachemak Bay & Cook Inlet from modern, cozy "tiny house" cabin
Relatively new, beautiful, Scandinavian-influenced, cozy, 360 sq ft one-room cabin/cottage -- a "tiny house"-- is modern, with all of the amenities needed for your perfect weekend getaway or week-long stay in Homer. Located next to the owners' house, tucked away from the road, on an acre and a half in a subdivision overlooking Homer, the views are fabulous of Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, and the volcanoes. Few places in Homer have views of both Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet. Hardwood floors and Jøtul "wood" (gas) stove give the cabin a warm and cozy feeling. Majestic large windows bring the views into the cabin.
The cabin is consistent with the "tiny house" concept, providing everything you need efficiently in a small space. Beautifully decorated with a modern, Scandinavian design.
The one-room cabin sleeps two in a queen-sized bed. The luxurious cotton sheets, down pillows and comforter make this bed truly comfortable.
Ask about the possibility for extra guests. The cabin accommodates two people comfortably. We have a Pack-and-Play for your baby or toddler, two thick foam twin mattresses. An extra fee of $40 per stay per person is charged for more than two people. Upon approval, one to two guests may stay in the loft, which has a queen-size mattress. Guests in the loft must be able to climb a ladder and be fairly young and hearty. Please inquire for details. No children under seven in the loft.
The kitchen is fully-equipped with a two-burner stove, a small, mini- refrigerator with freezer under the counter, microwave, counter-top oven, coffee pot, and electric tea kettle. All of the pots, pans, dishes, and utensils you need are provided. Any spices you need are available--just ask! And ask if you need anything else. There is no dishwasher and no washer/dryer. There is a laurdry mat in Homer.
There is a full bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. The dining room table seats six people comfortably.
SAUNA: Helen lived in Finland for two years and we are sauna enthusiasts. For an extra fee of $40 you can take a sauna--as good, or better, than any sauna you will find in Finland. We have a Finnish wood Harvia stove and beautiful cedar walls. The sauna is part of the cabin building so you just step out of the front door. Upon pre-approval, we will warm the sauna up for you--we just need three hours advance notice and a discussion with you. Towels are provided. Guests are not allowed to warm up the sauna themselves.
Sadly, the sandhill cranes have not returned to the nesting area for two years. In other locations, they can be seen from May into September, except when they are nesting in late June and early July. Sandhill cranes can be seen overhead, walking along the street, or strolling in Homer. Moose are regularly seen year-round walking through the property or in the neighborhood as well as eagles perched in the trees by the cabin. A walk on the streets in the neighborhood and an undeveloped subdivision offers majestic views of Kachemak Bay. When you are ready to walk the beach, go out to eat, get some groceries, or explore Homer, it is a short drive to downtown Homer (3 miles) and another ten minutes to the Homer Spit and Harbor for fishing, kayaking, and boating or bike riding on the Homer Spit Trail.
We have WiFi and good cellular coverage in the cabin—most days. There is no TV.
Take your breakfast or dinner outside on the deck to enjoy the spectacular views and at some times of the year fantastic sunsets over Cook Inlet with views of the volcanoes.
Coffee and teas, sugar, and honey are provided for your convenience.
Pets are no longer allowed.

We loved our comfy stay in this beautiful cabin on the hillside. The cabin is a delight, decorated and stocked so well, the view is amazing and Homer is a quaint and interesting place.
Great place, cozy, well equipped, exactly as advertised. Helen and Charlie are wonderful hosts, lots of great advice about hikes, food, etc. 10 stars !!
We loved the cabin. Perfect location, with a great view, and wonderful host . It was our first experience with vrbo, and it was an easy process from pre-arrival to checkout. Thank you ! we really enjoyed our 4 nights in Homer.
We had a lovely stay and enjoyed Homer very much. The drive to the spit was only about 10 minutes and very scenic, with multiple sightings of moose and other wildlife. The hosts were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Will stay again if I get the chance to visit Homer.

Thank you! We were so grateful that the weather was good and the mama moose and her two very little calves gave you front row viewing from the deck! That is not something everyone is lucky enough to see.
Great place to stay in Homer! Quiet, serene, lovely space!
Clean, well appointed, attention to detail on providing a lovely space to stay when in Homer—comfortable bedding, beautiful views, lovely towels, well stocked kitchen and more. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Perfect place!!

Thank you, Rona, for your kind words! I enjoyed meeting you so much. You were great guests. I do hope you will come visit again.
We recently spent a week in Homer visiting our son and had a wonderful stay. Helen was a fantastic host—friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and just right for what my husband and I needed. The only thing to note is that the fridge is a smaller, hotel-style unit, but we managed just fine and it didn’t take away from the overall experience. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Helen, for making our visit so enjoyable.

Thanks, Nicole, for your kind comments. I will make it clearer in photos that it is a “mini-fridge.” It’s bigger than hotel fridges as it has a small freezer, but it is a “mini-fridge” under the counter, as shown in the photos. That is helpful feedback. I appreciate it and will include a better photo.
We greatly enjoyed our stay! Everything was provided for such as kitchen utensils, towels, toiletries, dinnerware & pots/pans. For the females, there was a hair dryer & makeup removal wipes. The views of downtown Homer, the bay & mountains was fantastic! On a clear day, you can even see a glacier from the backyard. Upon visiting Homer, we would consider staying again at the cabin.

Stunning views of Kachemak Bay--one of the best in Alaska!
Incredibly comfortable cabin with a ton of light. Sitting on the deck overlooking the snow capped, glacial peaks and volcanos steaming in the distance makes this place top notch.

Hosted by Helen
Charlie moved to Alaska in 1963 and Helen came in 1981. They lived in Anchorage for 35 years. Charlie has been everywhere in the wilds of Alaska as an exploration geologist and Helen has been to many rural villages all over the state as a cultural anthropologist. Charlie and Helen enjoy exploring and enjoying the Alaskan outdoors, skiing, hiking, biking, camping, kayaking, or just enjoying a walk on the beach. Charlie particularly enjoys nordic, alpine, and back-country skiing. They also love Scandinavia and Scandinavian design, which has influenced their taste in the cabin. Need advice on places to hike? Charlie is an expert and ready to give you advice.
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood has fantastic views Kachemak Bay. There are nice walks right from our cabin. The sunsets are fabulous, depending on the time of year. In the summer there are good sunsets -- but after midnight!
What makes this property unique
The thing we love most about the cabin is the view. It also is a beautiful, lovely cabin only minutes away from downtown Homer. The cabin is beautifully decorated and well constructed. We love it that we are close to Homer, yet we often see wildlife on a daily basis.
