Charming, spacious cottage with stunning views of Staithes and the harbour

Fully renovated in 2018, Burton Cottage is a traditional fisherman’s cottage sitting in a unique location in Staithes and boasts magnificent views of the old village and harbour from the panoramic living room window. Within the cottage there is a fully modernised separate skylit kitchen, extremely spacious living and dining room complete with multi-fuel stove, 6ft farmhouse dining table, television and DVD player and a classical and retro vinyl collection for you to enjoy. The master bedroom is adorned with a luxurious king size bed and there are twin beds in the second bedroom. Renovated to a high standard whilst at the same time embellishing the character and style, Burton Cottage possesses all the curves and charm one would expect to find in a period property. The cottage is suitable for couples and families, we provide stair gates, children’s toys and books and a high chair and cot on request. This is a pet friendly cottage, with free unlimited WiFi and a car parking permit is provided. Please note that you can not directly park outside the property. You can park nearer for unloading purposes and then the car park is a 5 min walk away.

As a holiday destination Staithes has much to offer, whether it be a rich and thriving artistic scene, a fascinating industrial past, a stunning coast line full of fossils and cliff top walks, fantastic fresh seafood and a number of fine hostelries both on the sea front and inland.

Suffused with the magic of Staithes, Burton Cottage provides the perfect base to discover the secrets of the old village and the North York Moors or simply sit by the log burner watching the ebb and flow of the tide whilst luxuriating in the opportunity to get away from it all.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Burton Cottage. There is a great seaview from the cottage and it is full of character and was very well equipped for our needs. Staithes is quaint and friendly with two good pubs that serve food. Staithes was surprisingly quiet when we were there, as we were so well sheltered from the strong southwesterly winds.

Wonderful view

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location and the most lovely view from the sitting room. Typical old cottage with steep winding staircases and low beams. Very comfortable and cosy.

October half term break

It’s the second time we have stayed at Burton Cottage and again can’t rate it highly enough. So relaxing, such a lovely village and easy access to Whitby, which was great with the Abbey all lit up for Halloween and so many Goths in town, all dressed up in some amazing outfits. A wonderful few days, I’m sure we’ll be back again.

Our 2nd Stay at Burton Cottage. Views over Staithes and the sea from the room window are special whatever the weather. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Communication with the owner is prompt. We shall return.

Wonderful!

Our four night stay at Burton Cottage fulfilled all our needs for an escape from our 'real world'. Everything was clean, comfortable and our creature comforts catered for. We were blessed with sunshine, but on the one cool day we succumbed and lit the log burner, it was super. As everyone mentions the views from the cottage are spectacular, so don't forget to bring your binoculars. The provision of the parking permit is a bonus, and encouraged us to leave our car there and venture out on foot along the Cleveland Way, and to use the local bus service. 3 single to Whitby, a bargain!localservicespeviewsspectacular

Fabulous cottage

Our second stay at Burton Cottage. It’s absolutely perfect for us. Great location and amazing view out of the lounge window. Spotlessly clean as last time we stayed. We ate our evening meals in the cottage as the kitchen has everything you need to prepare them. The bottle of wine and biscuits are a lovely touch……thank you Sinead. Fantastic location

Had a great 3 night stay in Staithes and loved the accommodation at Burton Cottage. The property is in a perfect location only a few minutes walk from the car park and very centrally located for all requirements. The views from all rooms are a highlight but especially in the attic room and living room. All the room's in the property are of high standard and I loved the steps up to a charming kitchen. The property is very clean and well looked after. Communication with Sinead and Richard was easy and they were more than helpful. We will definitely return. Many thanks Andy, Dawn and Eddie the dog

We had a wonderful stay in this cosy cottage with wonderful views of the harbour. The reading nook was a lovely touch and we all enjoyed retreating to it to read or listen to music. Sitting by the fire after a day walking along the Cleveland Way, beachcoming or mooching around the delightful cobbled streets and alleys, sipping a glass of wine was just too good to be true. A lovely touch by the hosts to provide wine and biscuits on arrival. We all hope to Return to Staithes and Burton cottage again soon.

I totally recommend Burton Cottage. Sinead, the owner is very helpful and clear with instructions. The location is amazing with a wonderful view of the bay from the lounge window. Why they chose this property

The moment you walk through the front door of Burton Cottage and see the view from the large living room window you will realise why this is such a wonderful place to stay within Staithes. I have been coming to Staithes for the past 30 years. My father made the brilliant decision to purchase Burton Cottage in the early 1980s and recently my wife and I have worked hard and succeeded in fully renovating the cottage to a standard that befits it’s unique location.

What makes this property unique

The panoramic view from the living room is arguably the best in Staithes. Very recently modernised. Period charm and character maintained. Warm and conformtable. Child friendly.
