This property was wonderful. Few small things here and there (wear and tear) but nothing to really complain about. Neighborhood was amazing, and super close to the beach. This place had amazing room for 8 people in our party. Everyone was comfortable. Kitchen is a good size and having an outside “shower” was wonderful for when coming in from the sandy beach. Would definitely book here again.

Hi Jessica,
We are so glad you had a wonderful time and apologize for any wear and tear for the unit. We look forward to having your family stay with us again!
Location was amazing. The pool was a few houses down, and the path to the beach was direct. We travelled with some teens so were very comfortable with them venturing out on their own and not being that far. They did not have to cross any roads to go to the beach or pool and the neighborhood was fairly quiet and felt very safe. The outlet mall was directly across the street along with a Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and beach shops were crowd pleasers. When traveling to meet friends in Fort Walton it was nice to find out that we were against traffic and didn't get stuck in the 5:00 traffic going towards Destin. The restaurants on the beach were very close and highly recommend the Surf Hut. As far as the property, it met our needs but it did have some opportunities for improvement. After arriving we discovered that the description of the property was for another one in Destin so some of our expectations were not met, but hopefully that has been corrected. The basics information for the property 3BR/3BA was accurate. The thermostat indicates to not set it below 72/73 or it will freeze. We did not adjust this during our stay, but the upstairs air never worked and it could get quite hot for sleeping. The remote for the tv in the master would work for power and volume but we were unable to change the channel. Other than that, the kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed, including Tupperware which was convenient. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels.

Summer, thanks so much for the detailed review and for staying with us!
I’m really glad to hear you loved the location and felt comfortable letting the teens explore the beach, pool, and nearby shops on their own. That easy access and safe, quiet neighborhood are exactly what we love about this spot too.
I’m very sorry about the mix‑up with the original listing description and the issues you ran into with the upstairs A/C and the master TV remote. That’s definitely not the experience we want for our guests.
Thank you as well for mentioning the stocked kitchen, comfy beds, and plenty of towels — we appreciate you pointing those out. We really value your feedback and hope we’ll get the chance to host you again so you can enjoy an even better stay next time!
The house is in a good location, easily accessible to the beach and near to a lot of places. The kitchen is a well equipped, but the refrigerator is too small for long stays, is you need the freezer above all. The grill needs an upgrade and the light in the garage doesn't work. It would be necessary to place more towels and blankets, beacause they were incomplete for 8 people. The oven light and cooktop light not working. However the property has a lot of potencial, if those little things are fixed. The community is quiet and familiar, The wifi is super good, much better than the previous year. We will surely return in the future, Aventon has become part of our memories.

Could be a good property with better management and better cleaning
Had the worst experience with the property management. We left behind some items in the dryer because it takes 4 rounds to get anything dry, and even though we called 3 hours after leaving the property, our stuff is not being returned. It’s been a week and the cleaning staff never turned it in, and no one is being held responsible for stealing or throwing away the items. On top of that disaster, the floors were disgusting, left your feet black after being on them for 15 mins. The ceiling fan in the living room doesn’t work, the room with the trundle bed is missing the smoke detector and the ceiling light doesn’t work. There are lots of lightbulbs out as well. The property is not being well maintained and the cleaning staff clearly isn't doing a good job. We definitely won’t be staying at any of the properties maintained by this company again.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the issues that you encountered. We try to gather any items left behind that are not a part of the rental, but unfortunately sometimes they are discarded in the midst of cleaning and setting up the property for the next incoming guest. Items lost or left behind are not guaranteed to be returned and we are not liable for such items. Your concerns of cleanliness were never shared during your stay, as we are first hearing about this within your review. We do address cleaning or maintenance concerns that are brought to our attention in a timely manner. The dryer has been replaced within the unit, which was quickly approved by the property owner to do so. It is unfortunate that you did not provide us with any feedback during your stay, so we could have addressed those concerns.
Very well kept house, small but very homie. Overall a great stay, just wished the ceiling fans worked and the light bulbs weren’t out. But overall frat house to relax with family.
We wanted to love our stay because we love Miramar beach. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of my time cleaning the house. The floors, kitchen and walls were really dirty. The furniture is old and the carpet smelled. We used sheets to cover the furniture so that we could sit on it. The dryer takes forever and some of the railings on the outside porch were broken. The vents for a/c were so dusty and so was the fan above the master bedroom. The shed had a lot of broken beach chairs and floaties collecting water in front of it.
It could be a really nice place if it’s updated and cleaned properly. If you don’t care about cleanliness it’s really close to the beach. That’s about the only good thing about his home.
The house and location are nice. It worked for what we needed. Kitchen was well stocked. Has a few too many tables and knick knacks for my taste, but that’s not a deal breaker We did have some issues.
• Dryer does not work efficiently, clothes take 2 cycles, towels take 3 or 4 cycles. Looks like there are kinks in the dryer vent hose that may be an issue.
• Could not figure out how or if the ceiling fan in the living room worked.
• Ceiling fan light fixture did not work in the bedroom with trundle bed.
• Guest bath shower is very low flow.
• Front door is hard to open from the inside.
• Tile floors downstairs need to be mopped.

Problems with washer & dryer. Bathroom lights kept blowing bulbs. Living ceiling fan didn’t work
Good location for our family vacation. We also had family in another cottage at Gulfside way. We have booked at Gulfside way several times.
The property was perfect for our family. The location is great although it’s a bit tricky to figure out how to get to the street. It was an easy walk to the beach followed by an easy walk to the community pool. Pool was great. Our AC went out one day and a repairmen was out there within an hour. He repaired it quickly. As mentioned in other reviews the lights seem to go through light bulbs like crazy. By the end of our stay several bulbs in ceiling lights and lamps went out. But all in all it was a great stay.

The confirmation that we email to you prior to arrival clearly reads "Emerald Coast Vacation Rentals are stocked with many of the comforts of home, including bedding and kitchen essentials such as dishware and utensils, there are a few more items you will want to pack. Upon arriving for your vacation, you will find your rental has been stocked with an initial supply of toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap and trash bags. These should get you through your first 24 hours, but you will want to pick up additional supplies to get you through the remainder of your stay. Napkins, condiments, cooking spices and coffee filters are other things you may want to purchase while at the store. Other items you might want to consider bringing, or renting from a local company, include cribs, pack-n-plays, highchairs and any other items required by the youngest travelers in your group. And, while bath towels are provided, beach towels are not, so be sure to bring yours from home. "
The pros: Proximity to the beach, shopping, and amenities.
The cons: The lights were low wattage so we had to turn on a lot of lights. The front door was hard to open. If you have great hand strength its no problem, but we learned if we did 2 succinct, quick turns to the left it will open.
Overall it was a great trip and very relaxing.
We've now stayed in Aventon twice for family vacations. We love the location- pool, beach, close to grocery stores and restaurants. There is plenty of space for everyone to sleep. The kitchen is fully stocked for all our cooking. We've loved relaxing on the porches. We will be back!
The place was great. The only slight issue I had was the amount of dirt and sand under one of the rugs but honestly no complaints. Would love to stay again.
The front door handle was almost impossible to turn. We had to use the back entrance to get in and out of the property. The upstairs master bathroom had no lights in the bathroom as we had to change the lightbulbs to make it work, the toilet seat is basically just sitting on top of the toilet and should be repaired immediately, the toilet paper handle is completely ripped off the wall and was laying on top of the sink. A toilet in an adjacent bathroom was clogged and my mother-in-law had to go to the downstairs bathroom and use it the entire stay. I would fix these things before you rent a property to anybody else.
It was extremely hot upstairs which is where all the bedrooms are located. There is a sign that says do not turn below 72 or unit will freeze...we went to Walmart to buy fans and still got hot. The walkway to beach has lots of stairs which is not easy to carry wagon on!
Unit was relatively clean. We arrived and upstairs AC was not working. After 2nd phone call, mgmt responded quickly. Beds comfortable but not 5 star. Not a short walk to beach. Location is close to retail and restaurants.
One of the shortest distances from the beach! It had everything we needed.
The property manager was very accommodating. I emailed questions about beach rental and directions and promptly received answers. I called late Saturday to request extra sheets and someone drove them over within 20 minutes of making the call. Thanks!

Good Location
Decent location, walk to the beach. Had to have pest control come due to the big bugs crawling/flying around in the house. We had bad weather so had to watch some movies....the electronics in the house leave a lot to be desired. TV's, sound, DVD players, etc need to be updated. Wifi was pretty horrible too it was so slow. Also, you'd think they would have some basic lawn chairs or sand toys there in the house but no there is nothing. I know people go and buy those things like we did and leave them if they fly in so where do they go? Leave them there for others to use.
Other than those things it was good. Close to pool, kids enjoyed that along with pretty close proximity to the beach.
