About the host
Hosted by Valhalla Holiday Home
Our father came from Helmsdale, so we spent so many family holidays here to visit relatives and enjoy all the area offers. Whether it was walking the dogs along the Helmsdale River, hiking up the hills behind the village, exploring Navidale Bay, picnicking on Loth Beach, or just soaking up the sun by Loch Brora, this place has always been full of holiday memories. Now, even though we’re spread out across the UK, this home is where we come together to reconnect, enjoy the stunning landscapes, and spend quality time with the extended family.
Why they chose this property
This Highland fishing village of Helmsdale were a huge part of our childhood. We spent so much time with both immediate and extended family, keeping a strong connection to the area. These clan gatherings have been going on for over 60 years now! Our house, Valhalla, right in the heart of Helmsdale, has always been the perfect spot for us to get together, relax, and reconnect. It’s big enough for family get-togethers but still feels warm and cosy at the same time
What makes this property unique
Our house is right in the centre of Helmsdale, with just a short stroll to everything you need. Whether it’s popping to the village main street for provisions, enjoying a meal at the local pubs and cafés, or grabbing a classic fish and chips, everything is on your doorstep. You’ll also find the train station, bus stop, river walks, harbour, playing fields, golf course, and scenic hill walks just a few minutes away. With stunning views over the North Sea and up the Strath, it’s the perfect base to enjoy the best of the Highlands, all within easy reach
We enjoy hosting people to the house so they can too can enjoy all the area offers.
