About this property

Your family's base camp for summer and winter in the home of mountain tourism.

Spacious and comfortable base close to all the Chamonix valley activities

We offer a base which is more like a home than a holiday flat. For both summer and winter seasons we offer just about the most convenient location in the valley. Want to feel like you are at home then this is the place for you.

The Grands Montets lifts are a short walk away, roughly 4 minutes. In summer time there is a path from our back door into the network of hiking trails. The bus and trail stops are nearby too.

Life in the duplex apartment centres around the comfy sofas in the lounge - dinning room with it's large south facing windows. Beyond the windows is the balcony, one of the most appreciated features of our place. It offers a unique panorama with all the fabulous Chamonix needles peaks and Mont Blanc. The room is decorated with original art works and photos of the owners in the mountains.

The master bedroom is spacious with a double bed and plenty of storage. It has a calm atmosphere aided by the wood lined walls. The second bedroom has twin beds, 2 adults in here will not feel crowded. The third bedroom has full sized bunk beds. This room is narrow and without a door. As such it is well suited to younger guests.

On the entrance level there is a bathroom and a separate toilet. The second bathroom on the upper floor has a shower and toilet.

The kitchen is off the lounge. A lot of functionality is packed into a compact space: ceramic hob, dishwasher, oven, fridge, fondue and much more.

The entrance to the duplex is on the 3rd floor, served by a lift. In the basement a spacious ski store is available for all your kit. It is large enough to take several bikes.

The Hautes Aiguilles building has nice lawns and a pool. The pool is not heated so provides a lovely refreshing swim during the height of summer.

Nice place close to best expert skiing.
Great place with parking. Short drive to Grand Montets ski area, grocery store, excellent restaurant steps away (need a reservation). Three separate bedrooms is great for a group.

Cosy but overpriced
Poor check in as cleaning etc not finished until gone 7pm which was not ideal after a 3am start. It’s only a few hours but disproportionately annoying when you have to wait around after a long day and you only have very limited time. Despite friendly manager, not really good enough I’m afraid. Good points: In a good location close to lifts, friendly property manager, small but cosy and two bathrooms a plus (despite persistent noise from pipes). Bad points: the delayed check in (cleaning surely could have started earlier and would be good to have more than one set of sheets and towels?), the lack of any basic cleaning equipment for us to use (eg washing up liquid, clean cloths to clean and wipe down - only basic things needed but would be good to have been provided with them and we would have then been able to do a better final clean ourselves), cupboards full of old/half opened food (just needs a good clear out), smelly dishwasher (which then meant the kitchen had a smell), some dirty cutlery and bowels, makeshift kitchen bin (adding to kitchen smell). Overall a cosy place close to slopes but a bit “tired” and needed a more professional clean up/timely handover. Felt like an imperfect friends place in the Alps that you would be really grateful to stay in if offered but sadly we expected more for the price.

Great location
Apartment was very clean and well equipped. Ian, the host, was very friendly and helpful about both the accommodation and locality. Just one minor point, the top bunk bed did not have a safety rail so probably not suitable for a younger child.
