We enjoyed our time staying in this rustic, but updated property. It was close enough to the local sights but just enough out of the way to enjoy the peacefulness.
Cabin was easy to find, communication with the owners was great!! check in and check out was very easy, the cabin was clean, and it had everything we needed, loved that the kitchen had all the dishes and utensils that we needed would definitely stay there again!!!!and it’s close to picture rock national park where there is a lot of trails great beaches, and waterfalls There’s so much to do around there!!!
Looked the cozy feel of cabin, close enough to town and falls..but, far enough away to not be too "crowdy". Loved how many falls and sites were close enough to see.
Was cute little cabin close to many attractions. Perfect spot in quiet area. Bed was comfortable. Host was quick to respond to any questions. Close to the Yak Shack, Au Train river kayak a must.

Rustic vibe but clean thru out! Loved the old school decorating. Nice location making it close to Lake Superior, casino, and lots to do and see in Munising.
The cabin was everything we needed for our stay. It was centrally located to many waterfalls, hiking trails, Lake Superior, and great food. We especially enjoyed the Brownstone Inn. Cory was a wonderful host. His suggestions were very helpful. His giant “notebook” of places to go and see made our choices of where to visit and hike much easier. I highly recommend a stay. I’m a professional Santa Claus and Cory’s cabin is 100% Santa approved
I can't begin to express how pleased I was with this cabin! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have been to the area frequently but have only camped Pictured Rocks and stayed in Munising. I was pleasantly surprised at how close to everything this actually was. Love that Lake Superior is right down the road too...it means I didn't have to miss any sunsets! The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything I needed in both the kitchen and bathroom. It was nice and quiet at night. This place felt like home to me - I will be back!!
I absolutely loved my stay here. The cabin was quaint clean and had every we needed. I loved that it came with a free kayak rental as that experience made our trip extra special
It was a nice and quiet cabin right by all the hiking places we wanted to go see. Would love to come back and do the kayaking that’s all around. Lots to do all around the cabin and had a really great time.
Perfect place for a small group of friends or family! Right off of the au train river which is perfect for kayaking or snorkeling and a good halfway point between Marquette and Munising. Great place to stay if your looking to do hiking around the area and an absolutely beautiful location!
Great place to stay. Clean, nicely stocked linen, towels, and washclothes. A/C and heater works great. Nice river access. Perfectly located near hiking trails and waterfalls. Excellent location to Lake Superior for swimming.
This small but quaint cabin had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. It was very quiet at night! Loved being in AuTrain. This was a great place to stay that allowed us to take day trips to Grand Marais and Munising, and to explore the surrounding area.
Close to all the attractions on the UP! Host had a fantastic notebook with suggestions and links to all there is to do. The place was as shown...not the palace, but a throwback to simpler times when a cabin was a cabin! We enjoyed our stay...comfy bed, hot water, and the inside of the cabin was well-cleaned.
The listing for this cabin is accurate. It is a 100 year old cabin, but it is very functional and comfortable for 2 people to stay. From where the cabin is located it is very easy to access the Au Train river or go to Munising or Marquette for activities or restaurants. There are also plenty of hiking or biking trails in the area. We will definitely be coming back to this area.
The little cabin was ok for a few nights stay. When we arrived the grass was tall weeds. The owner did have it trimmed immediately which made it look much better. The nights were pretty cold so we had to use the gas heater which at first wouldn’t light. The owner came to light it and it worked. However, there was a gas odor so we had to vent by keeping windows cracked open. The microwave is on top the refrigerator which made it pretty hard for me to use.All in all, probably better in the warmer weather. It is a pretty area to spend a few nights.

Plain and simply, I am a Yooper. I live locally year round and am a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exploring our area. I graduated high school and college here and I am an avid outdoors-man, I camp, hike, bike, kayak, ski, snowshoe, ATV, motorcycle, snowmobile and Jeep nearly the entire U.P. and if you have heard of it, chances are I've been there, or done that. I also know some places 'slightly off the radar' if you are looking to get away from the tourist areas. Just ask, I'll be happy to give you advice.
Why they chose this property
I was a transplant to this area during high school years ago and left then came back. I couldn't stay away forever, this area is unlike any other. Sure there are beautiful places all over the country, but no matter where you are from, this place is special beyond words... This cottage is part of a private association with it's own river frontage. The property has a beautiful view, clean water with sandy bottom and plenty of space to relax. There are 10 cottages on this property (it was an old resort) I own/manage 7 of them for vacation rentals. I purchased these cottages with the intention of providing people a great place to stay, and the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful area. Overall, if someone doesn't enjoy staying here, it would be a first.
What makes this property unique
It is within 2 minutes of Lake Superior, one of the best beaches in all of Michigan, 15 minutes from Munising and the Pictured Rocks, dozens of waterfalls, hundreds of miles of hiking trails, biking trails and ATV/snowmobiling trails.(all available right from the cottage doorstep). AuTrain lake is accessible by boat right from the cottages and has tons of recreational opportunities.
