About Jo Newman
My name is Jo Newman. I first came to Spain in 2003 and bought a holiday home near Playa Flamenca. We used to holiday here and also rent it out to help pay for the upkeep. We loved it so much we moved here in 2005. I work in a bank in the local area. I work in the Los Alcazares area and decided to buy the apartment near Spinosa for family & friends to enjoy!
Jo Newman purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Jo Newman chose Los Alcázares
This property is a fantastic all year round apartment due to its location. In the summer the sun is high enough so that you can get some outside shade. In the winter the sun is lower and you can sit and sunbathe on the outside terraces.
What makes this Apartment unique
Its very unusual to get a property so close to the sea. You can walk or cycle all down the sea front completely at your own pace. A great place for a relaxing holiday and a good base to go an explore local towns and cities.

This is a lovely property which is steps away from the beach and in walking distance of the shops and restaurants (15/20 minutes beachfront stroll). The property was lovely and clean and the communication with the owner was excellent. The owner was also easily available to contact if we had any issues, which thankfully we didn’t. We didn’t use the pool area as it was November, but it looked lovely and well maintained. Would recommend to anyone looking for a beach location.
Clean modern apartment
apartment was clean modern and had everything you need available. the umbrellas came in very handy for our stay. A few steps away from a lovely promenade with beach bars serving good food.
Glad you r had it despite the weather!
Best regards Jo
Nice property good location
Well equipped property, only thing missing was local information about resteraunts and bars. Not too much of a problem as we looked up on the internet. Would certainly recommend. A lot of easy walks near by as the land is very flat
Met our expectations and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thanks Andrew. Glad you had a great holiday!
Great apartment with the best location
This apartment and the location could not be better. We really enjoyed our stay. A little problem with the AC the first week but Jo did her best and solved everything. The beach is great and Spinoza and the other beach bars are lovely. We hope to be back very soon and do recommend this apartment. Thanks Jo!
Eva, it's not often I get to meet the people staying. Under the circumstances we met and would love you both to come back again. Thank you for the review xx

Los Alcazares is a beautiful spanish town with many lovely restaurants and a good variety of shops. The promenade is just a few yards from the apartment and is scattered with lots of spanish bars and places to try local cuisine. It is a beautiful walk or cycle along the prom into Los Alcazares old town, with beautiful views over the Mar Menor.
For a lovely lunch steeped in history visit the La Encarnacion Hotel, located on the beachfront, you can enjoy a leisurely walk there on the prom. It is the most historic hotel in Los Alcazares dating back to the 19th century. They offer an excellent lunchtime menu and stylish evening menu and it is the perfect place to sit back and relax with views from the front terrace straight onto the beach.
If you fancy a pamper Punta Calera spa, is just 5 minutes walking distance of the apartment. It offers a range of spa treatments including massages, jacquzzi and thermal thermal pools, There is a fitness center there and a large outdoor swimming pool.
Across the Mar Menor is the famous La Manga strip, You can get the small ferry from Los Alcazares across the MarMenor and spend the day there. Alternatively, if you choose to drive the Sunday market at Cabo de Palos is a must followed by lunch in the port!
There are many other activities and places of interest to visit in the Murcia region. On the outskirts of Murcia city is Terra Natura waterpark and zoo, a great day out for all the family. If you like shopping Murcia has two large shopping centres, Nueva Condimina and Thader. They are just 5 minutes away from the waterpark, alternatively if you fancy a trip up the coast there is La Zenia Boulevard Commercial Center, an outdoor shopping mall with a wide variety of shops including Primark, H&M & C&A, restaurants, a casino and Bowling.
Murcia city itself is a vibrant and beautiful city. The cathedral is worth a visit followed by a cold beer and tapas in the square! Shop until you drop in Murcia or try one of the many fabulous restaurants. Easter is a very important time in Murcia with several processions over the course of the Holy week, This Holy Week is characterised by the Nazarenes in their tunics of many colours and their giant 'bellies', which are actually a large bag attached with a tight rope, filled with candies, biscuits, hard-boiled eggs and even beans, which are passed out to friends and family along the procession route. There are more sombre processions in which no sweets are handed out, such as the Refuge, the Rescue, Health, the Return or the Recumbent Christ. One of the most impressive processions is the Silence procession held on Thursday. The most important procession is the Salzillo. It is held on Good Friday at 7.00 in the morning with the first ray of sun, called the 'kiss', which must light the standard of the Fraternity of Our Father Jesus of Nazareth or the face of the 'Dolorosa'. Some of the most interesting floats include The Supper, The Prayer in the Garden, The Capture, The Lashes, Veronica, The Fall, Our Father Jesus of Nazareth (not the Salzillo), St. John or the 'Dolorosa'. Also on Friday evening are the processions of the Merciful Christ, the one from the church of St. Stephen, the Holy Sepulchre, and St. Bartholomew. They pass together in procession along Trapería Street. Saturday is the procession of the Recumbent Christ, from the church of St. Domingo, with one of the most impressive moments in Murcia's Holy Week: passing under the Arch of St. Domingo.
