About this property
Historic Village Setting
Located on the east branch of the Westport River this 1790-built Georgian house is a fine place for your vacation. Seven miles from beautiful Horseneck Beach, set in the heart of the historic “Head of Westport” neighborhood, this lovingly restored three-bedroom home captures a time gone by.
With a fully equipped kitchen and spacious dining room, delicious meals can be enjoyed at a table for 6. The master bedroom has a queen bed, while the 2 upstairs bedrooms have full-size. All the bedrooms have A/C, but every afternoon around 4 or 5 the cooling breeze comes up the river, and makes the sitting on the patio a treat.
Find a quiet spot in the garden to read, or sit on the back yard patio in the morning enjoying coffee and birdsong.
There is a seafood market down the road where the freshest fish and shellfish can be bought to put on the gas grill. One can eat nothing but local fruits and vegetables from farm stands and farmers’ markets (when in season).
Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented across the road. Or you can bring your own to put in at the town landing there. The Head is an ideal place to start a bike ride. Westport has great roads and (mostly) polite drivers.
A short walk brings you to a country store featuring ice cream and penny candy and fresh made donuts. The rolling hills of farmland and salt water rivers are unique to New England.

We felt welcomed and enjoyed our stay. We especially appreciated the offer to shovel the snow but due to our wee hours departure, we asked for and then amiably and quickly received a shovel for us to use as needed. The home was clean. The WiFi was excellent. Communication was easy and prompt. That also meant a lot! My husband, brother-in-law, and myself would not hesitate to return to this home in the future!

This location was perfect for us. Close to family and easy to get to highway. Sasha was quick to answer any questions. Our group was all over 70 and the staircase was a challenge. Other than that we had a great time. Thanks Sasha

This was a charming New England setting in a great central location. The house included many amenities that made our stay very homelike. We had a thermostat issue that the owners addressed right away. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and would gladly stay here again next time we are in the area.

Sacha and Quentin provide for your every need and they make themselves available for any issues that may arise. There are cute, tiny, little bunnies in the back yard, a little store just steps from the house which has ice cream cones, delicious coffee (Jim's) and muffins - definitely worth a visit.

Spacious, bright, and lovely house!
My husband and I stayed here during the week of Christmas and I am so happy we did. This house is spacious, has a ton of natural light, and is super cozy. The location is great and the hosts were excellent, checking in on us from time to time to make sure our stay was going well. This was by far the best rental I’ve booked.

The hosts were very cordial and recognized our every need. Highly recommend this wonderful vacation rental. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful courtyard with comfortable furniture, flowers, and a gorgeous flowering tree. Can't wait to return! Thank you, Sacha

Neat old house with heating and AC units in individual rooms, but this time of year they were not needed. Small store in walking distance. We are boomers and thought the TV instructions were lacking, but perhaps someone younger would have been Ok. Spiral staircase had steep steps but it was how the house had been built. Overall it was great.

Thank you, John, for your nice review. We take all suggestions seriously and will work on directions for the smart tv clicker. You left the house in good condition. Much appreciated.
We absolutely loved our stay in Westport, and felt at ease in this beautiful home. The backyard was perfect for morning coffee from the deli on the corner, and the TV room was quite cozy.
Sacha was a fantastic host and made our stay easy. Thank you thank you thank you!

We cannot say enough about how wonderful Sacha and Quentin are as hosts. Their place is charming . We appreciated the AC option, yard and having a driveway to park in. We’re located right across the Westport river and kayak rental place . We had such a fun and relaxing vacation.

My friends and I were down for a quick weekend away to run the Horseneck half marathon and 3.5. We had a wonderful experience. The property is charming and the yard is beautiful. It’s located near Westport River winery and to the parking lot we started our race from. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful
The house is wonderful and has all the amenities. The best is the shop next door with home made muffins and donuts every morning. The house could use a little cleaning and a bigger TV, but would go back again next time we're in town. Ms Sullivan was a great host with a lot of details.

Awilda,
I am glad you all enjoyed your time here at the two hundred year old Gifford house. Your family group was lovely and left the place in great condition.
I am sorry that you found the house needing cleaning. We strive to have, above all, a clean house. Please give us feedback on areas where you felt the cleaness lacking. We are eager to improve.
We look forward to your future stay.
Best, Sacha and Quentin
We stayed for a long weekend. The first door bedroom was perfect for family with mobility challenges. The fenced yard was great for our toddler, and the patio was perfect for dinners outside. The kitchen was well equipped and things were easy enough to find. Great books and games. We had some trouble figuring out the TV, and didn’t find a stereo so bring a Bluetooth speaker for tunes. Otherwise a lovely setup perfect for family or friends, walkable to coffee, ice cream, kayak rentals, and local trails. Beautiful historic house. Hosts left clear instructions, too! Would definitely recommend.

Much of what I would say has already been said by other reviewers. I would add that the hosting couple were very friendly and helpful. I was travelling with a senior who has mobility issues. The home offered a main floor bedroom and en-suite which worked perfectly for her...with an adjoining kitchen and living room with a TV. The hosts even offered the use of a mobility walker or "Rollator" while we were there. While you need to be fit to access the bedrooms on the top floor if you are travelling with someone with limited mobility these was a great choice for us.
